The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon...
Now first off I would like to point out how awesome this title is. Not only is this title epic, but it is completely accurate. Spyro himself is the Legend of the purple dragon, and he's on a quest to defeat those dark monkey things that have been terrorizing the dragons for so long with a dark dragon of their own. This game is indeed The legend that is spyro, and the dawn of the dragons is coming! It's not everyday that I find an awesome game that has an equally compelling title! Anyways, let me get down to business.

Graphics: 9
The graphics are pretty sweet in this game.. The hold up to the true capabilities of the PlayStation 2, and still add to that awesome experience. The graphics that they did for the various types of breaths that you aquire is awesome. Now they could have just used one type of breath and used different colors to depict the different elements, but they did not do that. Instead, they stayed true to each element. Electricity is depicted as almost a stream or focused laser of electricity, while his earth breath resembles the move Leaf storm from pokemon! Also, whatching Spyro’s supercharged moves is just sheerly awe inspiring. Watch as you summon a pillar of flame to engulf your enemies, a lightning storm to shock everyone into next week, a crazy super freezing ice blizzard, or even a leaf storm. The graphics for these are amazing. It makes being able to use these moves that much more satisfying. Another interesting thing is that they show the enemy’s name every time you hit one. No, not their general type name, their actual, individual name...Unless you are fighting some sort of cannon, because obviously the guy inside it has nothing to do with it. Just blame the cannon. Overall, the graphics delivered in this game were awesome. Every world that you went to felt exactly as it should, even Cynder’s tower at the end, it sort of reminds me of Count Bleck’s tower in Super Paper Mario. (Yeah, I know, Spyro came first…) But yes, these awesome graphics truly deserve a 9

Sound: 9
Again, totally awesome! I love that they used voice acting for everyone including Spyro. There are so many games that have dialogue and voice acting, yet do not give your character a voice. That drives me crazy, but again, Spyro the Dragon did not go that route. For that I am truly grateful. All in all the sounds are amazing, your breaths all have different sounds that match what I think they would sound like if it was a real thing. You get to hear the enemies frantic yelling “It’s him!” “Get him!” The sound effects work 100% well, and they even got voices that match the characters. With the electric dragon souding a bit hyper (why wouldn’t he, he’s all charging up), the Ice dragon sounds cool, and the main dragon has that serious elder dragon sound to him. Even Cynder’s voice matched her character. Her voice gave me the feeling that she truly was evil, but it was one of those ones that’s like “follow me” sort of evil voice. Anyways, between the music, voice acting, and explosive sound effects (literally!) this game gets a 9 in the sound department.

Addictivness: 10
This game is so addicting! I had so much fun just running around beating the stuffings out of everything! Every time you learned a new ability, it just makes you feel so powerful and unstoppable. This game really goes the extra mile to make keep wanting to come back. However….

Depth: 6
As much fun as this game is, there really is not much depth to it . There are five incredibly long levels. But beyond that there really is not much to the game. You do not unlock anything upon completing the game, there is nothing special to collect on the way. And when you finish the game, there really is not much to do other than play through the whole thing again, perhaps upping the difficulty.

Difficulty: 4
Honestly, this game was so easy for me. It had one of the simplest concepts that I had seen in a game of this generation. Just run through all the levels and beat up all the evil flying monkeys. Sure, there was a little platforming here and there, and monkey like things are not the only thing in the game. The boss battles could be difficult, but I remeber beating the first two without dying! So, definitely not the most difficult game. It is very friendly for anyone to pick up and play, and it is a game that I would sincerely recommend.
Story: 9

At this point, it probably would not take much to impress me on a story. As long as we are not going to rescue another princess, it’s probably a good story! And sure enough, this one was. It follows the story of Spyro and his dragon tribe. Spyro was hidden away when he was still an egg, and was raised by...fireflies...hey at least they have the word fire in their name! The story progresses as Spyro knows he’s not a firefly and wants to discover what he truly is. He sets out and eventually discovers another dragon...his father. From there, we learn about the evil monkeys and their evil dragon, who is actually trying to break out their evil leader. And you must free the other dragons, help those you meet on the way, and ultimately defeat Cynder.

Overall, this game was awesome. Although I feel that it needed just a little more depth in the gameplay and some more challenges thrown in there, but in the end this game it highly rewarding.

I've never played this one, or I don't think I have. I loved the first Spyro and I tried one on PA2 but didn't like it. This isn't the one where Sparx and Spyro are like brothers is it? I think Spyro was set adrift in a basket like Moses or something. Lol Same game?

If this isn't the same game I mentioned above, how does it compare to the first Spyro in your opinion (if you've played it)?

Eirinn : I think that it is the same game, that is what the beginning sounds like. And also, this is the only spyro game that I got a chance to play. Most spyro games that I saw were like $30-$40. While this one a mere $8.99. I felt like it was a good opportunity to get my foot in the franchise. Sadly, after this it turned to skylanders, where spyro is just the first of many. Way to respect the legend of the purple dragon game creators!
