Eniitan : Good point Even with packed lunches people can get sick if they aren't careful so I'm sure to check expiration dates when I pack my plain-but-tasty sandwiches.

Another thing is that school lunches are probably leftovers more of the time than I realize. Each time I would buy pizza from the cafeteria, they'd pull a box out of a room and give me a slice out of there. I'm thinking that the reason pizza can taste like cardboard is because it's been sitting in cardboard for too long

PacmanandMariofan : Yeah I know but if you do your rounds right by checking how you buy the things for the pack lunch then you won't be sick. And that's just wrong....I know I have heard schools that do leftovers and that's just...uh not cool and healthy for the students whatsoever. '-'

School lunch was great when I was in elementary school, only to get so bad in middle school, to a point where my cousin got sick multiple times from eating the food. School lunch in high school started off okay, only to get worse over time. The meals that used to be delicious are now what I nicknamed poison, and everything looks gross to me. I'm thinuking of just packing lunch for my last year of school.

AriaAngelDream : Oh....thats bad. Isn't that the thing with school nowadays? When you are in elementary school its like the best thing ever, but as you get older to go into like high school that's when the school lunches decided to just not play nice for the people in it. I mean most and some schools come in with 50/50 its either good or bad so its kind of all around type with most schools with these things. And I really do feel sorry for those who end up having the bad ones since its not good at all to eat. I just go safe and have packed lunch instead of having a lunch, that can or could kill me. I wouldn't be surprised if that actually happens in schools. :/

I used to eat school lunch but then one day I saw the chef guy drop a bowl of spaghetti on the dirty floor in our dining hall and he just picked it up and mixed it in with the rest of the food. I was so disgusted that I never ate there again. Even when I forgot my own lunch (only happened like 10 or so times ) I would go without food instead of eating there.

It depended on the food being served. Pizza at school was utter garbage and they used stale bread and terrible cheese. It was so bland that I stopped getting it in like 4th grade. Hot dogs are really bad too, since most of the time the bun is soggy and the actually sausage tastes horrible. Some food like spaghetti and subs or sandwiches were pretty good though. Those were two of the only items I ever got at lunch from school. I brought my lunch 4 days a week and I made sure I only had school lunch on days where the lunch schedule had things that I liked.

Furret : Oh wow....thats disgusting.....whats more worse than a chef doing something like that....clean food and puts it on the floor and back onto the plate?! Goes to show there are cooks you can not trust....well you did a good job to hold up for waiting till like you got home to eat. It wouldn't really encourage you to eat there not with what you saw. RDay13 : Yeah that's pretty true. Oh wow they don't seem to care as well the one thing I hate is bland food....gheeze I mean do any of the cooks at least try? It seems they are just there for there for the money and not to even bothering to care for the students at all. Sorry you had to go through the horrible phase of that experience. >.>

Nope I can't really recall a time when in school that I liked what the cafeteria was serving for lunch or breakfast. To me the food always tasted bland and unseasoned and they didn't really provide any proper seasoning to make the bland food taste better, even on pizza or taco day the food was just bad to me. And we had vending machines but they were all filled with healthy food alternatives so I just either packed my lunch or in high school I would sneak out at lunch and go to mc donalds since we were so close to one.

I did end up liking the food we were served over the years... It's not like we had many different things, to begin with, so in the span of a couple years you saw everything at least twenty times.

Normally, we kids had food which had been prepared in mass very early in the morning. Of course, after 5-6 hours, its properties weren't the same: steaks that were like bubblegum, the soup wouldn't fall off the spoon even when upside down, the bread was like a bouncing ball... And those horrible things they called "patties", the only thing I was ever unable to eat in 15 years in that school.

In my late years, me and a group of friends found a way out of this. Since we weren't served that much food to begin with, we could easily "hide" and take the very last turns to eat. This allowed us to come in time for when the teachers were also coming down, and they did have food prepared exclusively for them at that precise moment. It really was a big change, even more when we could casually talk with our teachers, and made everything look a lot better. 

What gets me wondering after all these years is why the rest of the class didn't follow our example, instead being of the first so as to enjoy "garden time" at its fullest. Listening to them complaining about cold food when I even had to leave the food cooling down by itself made me feel like a sir

Divine Aurora : That's the one thing people hate bland food so there won't be any other option, but to bring your own lunch. That way things would taste a whole lot more better and you would enjoy the food as well.

EX Palen : That's surpising.....the lunches wouldn't taste so nice it shows that they don't even try and like care for the food itself. Let alone have to care about the people and the students who eat them. That sounds like really ruff. Good thing you found a way out of that horrible situation since doing that is the best thing if there is no other way around the problem. Sorry you had to go through that horrible ordeal. :/

I actually like the school lunches. They are normally made with simple ingredients that they know every kid will like, and that's exactly what I want. I used to eat school lunch everyday and actually kind of like it.

I never eat school lunch anymore however because they raised the prices a ton and it's a lot cheaper just to bring my own lunch, and even tho it gets old, sometimes it's better.

Barathemos : I see that's very good to hear normally it would be that they taste bad. I always like to see people if they can make positive posts so it can balance out the negative ones that were on here. I see maybe in some other schools that happened as well. I know this happened with me when I went to school in the past. @.@

My high school had chicken finger Tuesdays and they were the bomb because what kid doesn't love some chicken strips! I didn't usually have lunch money though and my mom never filled out for reduced lunches but most of the time my friends shared with me, I even had one friend who specifically on chicken finger Tuesdays would go get a tray for me because she didn't like them.
In middle school they didn't really have any cool special meal but the pizza was always the best day. The whole district provided chocolate milk was great too because I never got to get chocolate milk when I lived with my mom since I went through it so quick. ): It's just so good.

Cap'n : Glad to hear that you really enjoyed your school lunches. I mean I would if I went to the school you did. I eat chicken strippers. and even the did chocolate milk?! That's just simply amazing, and the pizza I would had eaten as well. I see you miss this a lot sorry to hear of you never got to, that chocolate milk I would be sad as well.

School lunch was ok me, until High School., it just got worse, i would usually eat the same thing everyday because it was the only thing i like which was pizza and it was borderline decent. Im not picky, so yeah, it was terrible.

supercool22 : Sadly that would happen to people. I mean it depends from when you are in grade school that it tasted good before going to high school where it either stays the same by still tasting good. Or tasting really horrible, and its not a really nice experience when that happens. '-'

All of the food at my school was actually really good. Unlike the lunches portrayed in TV shows, where you slide your tray and the food people slop it on, at my school they already have it all on the tray. I really enjoyed Wednesday and Thursday , mainly because breakfast was toast with lots of cinnamon on it for Wednesday and French toast or pancakes on Thursday. But I didn't really like their green beans because they were cold. In general, I enjoyed most of the food I had at school.

Crenino : That's very good that for you it was handled in a professional way. Its really great to hear things like this which was the reason why I made this thread to know the types of replies, and how people felt about it. If I could I would go to your school just for the lunches to enjoy. I'm glad your school had care for their students when it came to lunch time.
