Problem with the TDV nowadays

legacyme3 : I don't think the userbase ever gets worst though, I think it's that the users either get bored with the site or they lose interest because friends of theirs left the site. Users have been complaining about this site getting boring or not being the same almost literally all the way back from the start of the site. What one user refers to as the best days of this community, another user would refer to as the worst days of the site (or that the site "isn't the same" or "isn't as fun" as it use to be).

I agree though that features don't make a great community and that the users are what make it great. The features do help though and a site that is dead and doesn't get updates wont last long.

I agree that the loss of traffic makes it more difficult to compete in the TdV since there are less new threads to post in, but I think it makes it even more difficult to post when it isn't a TdV month. Once the TdV is gone people are tired of posting so much and users often struggle to come up with new threads that generate activity. Also, the TdV gives users more reasons to post so when the TdV isn't occurring users can still post but not have the motivation.

The problem with the TdV right now is how hard the competition is making me work for points.

In all seriousness, I think it's kind of funny this thread was made, and over the past week or so posting has been at an all time high in years (from what I've heard), even if it's only due to a select few users. I'm not trying to say the OP's point is invalid or anything, but irony seems to be a side topic of this thread, and I just wanted to point this out
