So a while back I made a thread about how I had started the Uncharted series recently. I was complaining about the language, and while I still don't like it, it doesn't bother me as much as it did. I think it was more of a shock issue than anything honestly. Though I still don't like swearing in a game.

That said I have now played through the first three console games, and I'm more than a little confused as to why everyone seems to think that Uncharted 2 was the best in the series, or equally as baffling, why many say that 2's opening is the greatest game opening of all time. Personally I think 3 was far and away the best opening of the three Uncharted console titles, and while I found 2's opening to be interesting, I didn't think it was any more special than any other moment in the series.

Finally I believe Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was my favorite solely because the story. The relationship between Nate and Elena was at it's simplest and purest, and it made for a truly engaging tale. Not to mention the mostly surprising twist beginning with "Heart of The Vault". That made for some incredibly interesting (and rather tense) gameplay moments.

I guess each game shined in it's own way, here's how I see it:

Drake's Fortune: Best overall story (even though not necessarily best story quality)
Among Thieves: Best ending (it was at least an eight lol...no one? Okay, moving along)
Drake's Deception: Best Gameplay; Best Narrative (as in best job telling the story. That desert chapter though).

Also UDF and UDD tie for best final chapter.

Overall though, the fight for best title of the first three console games in the series is a close one between Drake's Fortune and Drake's Deception, with Among Thieves not even coming close. Still I pick Drake's Fortune for best solely for the link between Nate and Elena.

So what do you think? Do you agree? Do you disagree? Do you think I'm nuts because Among Thieves was the most amazing thing since amazing things became a thing?

Of those, my favorite would have to be the 2nd one. That was the first one I ever played and I loved some of the parts in the game, like all the scenes on the train, whether its climbing up, or running across, both were extremely fun to play in and to just look at. When it comes to the other games, I have probably already amassed more than 100 total hours in 2, and the rest never really came close for me, just never had the same spark that I got from the 2nd one.

Uncharted 2.  The first Uncharted didn't age well imo, with clunky shooting mechanics, an underdeveloped villain and a very short game time compared to the other two. The next two games were a lot better in that regard, and I think Uncharted 2 is just a little bit better because even if Uncharted 3 has some awesome set-pieces and great characters, it feels a little more-of-the-same.

I have never played uncharted lol. I have always wanted to but never bought the game because I feel like I wouldn't be invested to much into the game. Maybe ill buy the Nathan Drake collection + thief's den. I am not sure yet though.

Uncharted 2 was my favorite of the original trilogy. I never got to play the very last one yet.

I thought the 2nd one had the best story line over all ( from what I remember ), and improved on every thing that made the first title good. It probably did not help the rest of them's case that I played number 2 before the rest of them, so I started with the very best one.

Also, I never managed to beat number 3 before I had to return it, so that took away a lot of points. I got stuck on a certain part, and for the life of me couldn't get past it, so I ended up giving up lol.

zanderlex : Well I feel like 2 was a solid game, but honestly the whole last half of the game (from the train battle onward) felt less than inspired in comparison to the other two. Plus the whole Tibet portion is a good cut below the rest of the game for fun I think. That's just me though, as almost every Uncharted fan seems to disagree.

RunDST : Yeah note that I played all three for the first time in the Nathan Drake Collection, and the shooting mechanic was altered to handle like the other two in that collection. And as I told zanderlex I really felt like the last half of 2 was too "meh" and borderline generic, though I guess that could be said about the first one. I really felt as though the first one seemed more plain in that regard because the characters were still faceless and that game had the task of introducing them. But again, it's all opinion, and I know most disagree with me. I made this thread fully expecting the majority to say 2.

Beastmode64 : If you don't mind the language then I seriously recommend it. The collection is probably the best way to experience the games, plus it's an amazing series. I broke into it with the collection as well.

Mynamescox44 : Let me guess: you got stuck on the globe puzzle? I got stuck there and got so aggravated that I gave up and left for a few hours, and once I came back I solved it in just a few minutes. In my opinion that puzzle is easily the game's biggest blemish. But seriously you need to experience the rest of it, if for nothing else than the Rub'al Kahli desert scene and that awesome caravan chase on horseback. Oh my gosh, that was pure genius. Easily one if the best scenes in any game I've ever played. I play it often. Lol Thank goodness and Naughty Dog and Bluepoint for chapter select. xD

My favourite is Uncharted 2. The gameplay was refreshingly intense with a fantastic intro level (albeit a not-so-great stealth mission after that), fascinating story with interesting locations and unique histories to those locations, not to mention crisp graphics that could hold up even seven years later.

The other two games are good, make no mistake, but they each have fatal flaws that destroy much of their appeal to me. Uncharted 1 has more bland, drawn-out gun battles than actual exploration, and Uncharted 3 has aggravatingly annoying main villains with nothing to their characters other than pure malice. Sure, that's typical of the whole series, but it's especially bad here.
