How do I change the default game controls?
I cannot change the default game controls for a game I am trying to play.

 I have recently joined this site and am still trying to figure everything out. For the most part, I  have found a game I wish to play but the defaut game control settings make it a little difficult to maneuver. I see above the game screen where it says to double click to access the game menu where it displays a list of game controls when I double click. However, when I try to change any of the keys for each game control, nothing changes. Can someone please tell me how to change the controls to different keys? Thank you in advance.

What game system and emulator are you using?

If it's the VBA (Virtual Boy Advance), I'm pretty sure that happens to some users, myself included, but why it happens, or at least how to fix it is currently unknown. 

If it's something different, please give more details so we can try and help with the issue.

Yes I am using the VisualBoyAdvance Emulator to try to play Megaman Battle Network 3 Blue. It says above the game screen to double click to display the menu where it shows the game control keys but wont let me actually change any of the keys.

Yea, from what I understand, nobody has figured out a fix or why this happens (unless I missed it since the last time I checked). It only happens to certain users for one reason or another, myself being one of them.

Unless you're already really far into the game, I'd say just switch to a different emulator since the saves don't transfer between emulators. Mednafen is a personal favorite, and it can generally be used with most of the systems / consoles the site supports. It also has a help menu by pressing F1 which explains how to use it's many features which include changing controls, among plenty others.

Yea I wouldnt say im very far into the game yet, only at the beginning of the 6th boss chapter out of 7 for the story line but there is a lot of other stuff to do after the bosses are beaten. I guess it couldnt hurt to try a different emulator, but if I start a new game file on a different emulator will my old game save file still be saved on the first emulator I was using?

 Dont feel bad I am a total NOOB to this site as well, and when I try to change some of the controls to  different keys it just doesnt change them to anything, but trying the dffferent emulator suggestion worked out just fine, Within the last two days along I caught up to where i was on the same game before switching emulators, and even surpassed that point to the point of beating the actual story line and even progressed a little ways into the "After story" so to speak. Once I switched emulators and was able to adjust the  control keys to the keys I am used to using on an emulator, I was able to make much more progress on this game, MUCH more quickly.
