I was told once "don't shame yourself about your mistakes", because it'll only keep you in self-pity instead of wanting to move on from it. So, I thought it might be a nice idea for us to share where we're at in terms of what our weak points are. This isn't saying we need to change anything (I am not near ready for that yet haha) but just to see that maybe somebody else is having the same challenge as we are.

Are you having trouble staying consistent with exercise? Do you not exercise? Do you have trouble eating healthy? Do you forget to take vitamins when you need to? Anything - "healthy" is a vague term, so I"ll leave it open.

I'll start. I have absolutely no willpower when it comes to food. I feel like I've figured out half of the equation when it comes to a healthy lifestyle - I've got it down when it comes to exercise, but my motivation to eat healthy doesn't last long after I've left the grocery store.

My will is usually pretty strong when it comes to healthy habits. I exercise five times a week, bike to work when I do not have a flat (or do cardio exercise when the latter happens... more times then I care to count) and my eating is usually pretty healthy.

However eating healthy can be hard when eating away from home outside a restaurant (there is always a way to control servings). Either because no such option exists (say, lots of sandwiches or carbs) or because I am suddenly very hungry and can't (seem to) control myself.

Due to my disease, which even took me below 50 kg/110 pounds, I eat whatever I want and in the quantity I want, because it's almost impossible I go overweight. It's quite fun to say this now that I'm at 65 kg/140 pounds.

I don't think I could follow any strict diet. Not because my will is weak, but because I think that there's actually no need to eat healthy. One way or the other, I'll eventually die, and I prefer having a life full of smiles and good times rather than painful memories and bad times.

I don't do any kind of exercise, except some walking and climbing stairs. I do plan on following my cousin into a martial arts school, but I have many other things in mind to do with my free time right now, so probably during/after the summer I could start there. After all, once I get my driving license most of my "exercise" will fade away, and with it the time I invest in getting it, which can be a couple hours everyday, so I'll have to search for a replacement.

My downfall would have to be food because I love it and even though I walk so much, more than 5 miles a day on average, I still can't lose any weight, even when I barely eat I can't seem to.

plasticinsanity : Mine is definitely not staying consistent with exercise. I may do great for weeks then get lazy and barely do anything for one and all the progress is gone.

My downfall when it comes to being healthy would most likely be my lack of discipline when trying to stay away from the unhealthy foods when dieting. I have no trouble eating the healthy foods or exercising because healthy foods are better tasting than the unhealthy foods and exercising on a daily basis has just become mandatory to the point I have more trouble adjusting to the inactivity of exercise.

I'm actually pretty healthy, and eat right, most of the time. I could put on a little bit more weight, but I'm not underweight.

zanderlex :   From your profile pictures we know you're not an enormously huge guy. As long you are content with your current waistband measure, everybody else is fine hanging out with you. If you get insecure about it, maybe not.

How do we actually know that having a little bit of fudge around our middle is unhealthy? If someone says you are unhealthy because of your body shape, just ask them to offer proof that this is true. 95% of the time, they will not be able to offer satisfying evidence of this claim. The one in 20 people that can positively aver such a statement will have researched the question and put real thought into it.

People of larger midsections live about as long as anybody and so long as their quality of life doesn't suffer, I would hesitate to call you or anybody "overweight".

My downfall is not exercising. I would like to have more muscle, more energy and be more flexible. Because I don't get any more than job-related exercise, that means I haven't stretched for significant lengths in years, I don't workout every muscle, every week and my stamina is best suited for crawling into bed when I don't have to work.

Although my pipes are doing all right, I usually don't use them unless the rare heavy item comes my way. Like I say, I'm always tapped for energy.

My eating habits. Now I'm not overweight and never have been, for me it's more about being underweight. I tend to just skip eating dinner or breakfast some days and often eat a lot of unhealthy snacks. It's as one can imagine obviously not healthy in terms of eating habits. I have started going to the gym so in that regard I'm doing alright I guss. As long as I feel relatively fine though, I don't really care. Going to die sooner or later anyway so better live life how I most enjoy it in stead of constantly worrying about what I should and shouldn't be doing.

I have a ton of downfalls, really, but my biggest one has to be my extremely irregular and overall unhealthy eating habits. I make a lot of midnight runs to Denny's (which is only two minutes walking from my dorm), and just in general have little concept of a breakfast, lunch, and dinner time. It just all melts into "I eat when I feel like it" time.

It really doesn't help that I'm borderline underweight, and I fail to exercise on at least a somewhat regular basis, but oh well. That's just how the cookie crumbles sometimes, I guess.

My downfall in exercise would be how skinny my arms are. There is little to no muscle at all in my arms mostly because I don't lift things that much. My legs and everything else is fine, but my arms are just noodles.......just noodles.

I think I am in the same boat as you.
Exercise, I can manage that... but when I go to the grocery store, the cookies and ice cream call my name... I can't resist their siren call...

It almost negates all the good stuff I buy....

My biggest downfall would be junk food. I eat healthy meals, but can't resist the temptation of a few Mountain Dews and Reese Cups every day. I've always had a 6 pack or at least a well defined stomach, so I'm not too concerned about it. Now that I've quit smoking and recently returned to exercising regularly, maybe I can get the whole junk food problem under control as well. Only time will tell.

I have no limit when it comes to foods. The fiendish Ice Cream and Pizza, they call out to me. And they drown me in their deliciousness.
I also need to exercise more. What I do now kind of works, but lately it hasn't been enough. But I am blaming eating just a bit too much each day for this too. lol
I don't really get vitamins because of money issues. So I try to eat vegetables. But that's just more calories I need to count. Counting calories has been the best thing for my health, and also the worst thing for my happiness. Goodbye, peanut butter. Goodbye, lattes... *sniff*

plasticinsanity : Mines would probably have to be a unhealthy diet and much lack of exercise. All I eat most of the time is sweets and other types of junk food. I fear that if I were to continue doing this, I would ultimately get diabetes. Recently, one of my cousins has died from it.

Given that, It would be prudent to start making changes in my own diet.

I'm just going to go right out and say the pretty much everything I do is my downfall.

I'm lazy. I dislike hard exercise and I can barely go five minutes without getting tired out, feeling intense cramps, and with my heart beating at an intense rate.

I also eat a lot. Not a lot in the sense that I eat all the time like every second of the day. But more like I eat in big portions. When I eat pasta I sometimes have two full plates of it. Also I do eat vegetables. I've tried and I just don't like them. I do eat some fruit though from time to time.

Luckily I will say that I don't eat a lot of red meat, which I've heard isn't that good for you, well at least in large amounts. I also don't eat a lot of sweets. Mainly the foods I tend to eat are in the grains and dairy family, with the occasional junk food.

My downfall in staying fit is I'm limited to what I can eat due to a gastro disease. The bad thing is the foods that I can tolerate such as red meat, pork, and ice cream are not the best for me so that is my downfall there. I also have Autism so there is some sensory issues going on when it comes to food too.
