Honestly I didn't know what to think when I bought this game because I saw it in a commercial but playing this game caused me to become attached to it in fact it was very hard for me to put it down. I never heard of the Dragon Quest games before I picked this game up in fact I was completely unaware this was a spinoff. Dragon Quest Monsters Joker was published by Square Enix who you should be familiar with by now because it published games like Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy which define the role-playing gaming genre entirely. Now shall we begin?
Graphics:
They were decent compared to every other game in the DS market however I'm curious to see what Dragon Quest Monster Joker could have been. What could have been a game with great gameplay to go with amazing looking landscapes to explore was clearly ruined by heavily pixelated characters in poor landscapes there's no doubt that console capabilities had played a major role. If only Dragon Quest Monster Joker was brought to any other console besides the Nintendo DS. The monsters in the game were actually nice looking and so was the main character although he had terrible animation when it came to moving. Overall the graphics could have been way better even for this particular console they just didn't make it happen for some reason.
Sound:
Despite having poor graphics we can't forgot that this is a Dragon Quest spinoff can we? Yes Dragon Quest Monster Joker had one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. It just really fit the overall theme in the game especially the title screens and each of the locations within the game. Dragon Quest Monster Joker delivers us with outstanding sound to make up for the unfortunate graphics.
Addictiveness:
This game was pretty addicting because you could defeat, scout, or synthesize monsters to improve your team in the game. There's also a catch as well but the game puts it out there and that's if you synthesize monsters you lose both of them so that means that although you got a higher ranking monster it starts at level one. Experience points are earned when you defeat monsters as well and a monster can learn abilities like heal or zoom which cost magic. Additionally you're gonna need more experience points to level up the higher ranking monsters you either recruit or synthesize too. Dragon Quest Monster Joker also features turn base combat in the game but that's what makes it a addicting RPG.
Story:
So this is how the story goes you have always dreamed to become a monster scout and one day your father calls you to his office to talk to you he acknowledges your wishes to become a monster scout but only if you agree to spy which you obviously do. Afterwards you leave the island to enter the Monster Scouting Competition. It was a great story to go along with a great game with sound. Overall Dragon Quest Monster Joker has a thrilling story that will make you want to keep playing the game.
Depth:
There's enough content in this game to keep you playing the game. With its immersive storyline to go along with its fantastic sound and gameplay there's no reason you would stop playing this game. The game features a long storyline and stuff to do after the post game. With seven islands to explore which are so big I would occasionally get lost. Dragon Quest Monster Joker also gives you different monsters between day and night that will keep you exploring all the locations in both scenarios. Overall Dragon Quest Monster Joker gives you enough monsters occasionally with different color variations in ranks F, E, D, C, B, A, and X to keep you busy.
Difficulty:
Dragon Quest Monster Joker being my first Dragon Quest game I had it say that some boss fights were easier than others however all were challenging and if you didn't come prepared than you shouldn't have attempted fighting one. This game proved to be one of the hardest RPGs I've ever played but it only added to the appeal because it felt really good when I would come out victorious after so many attempts. Overall Dragon Quest Monster Joker isn't a game for people who really hate rage quitting but for those that are looking for a fun turn base RPG game that are patient enough to play it.
Time for part we have all been anticipating!

Dragon Quest Monster Joker will provide a enjoyable turn base RPG experience for those patient enough to play it and are fans of the particular genre. I do not recommend the game to people new to the genre though and I ask that they wait to play this game of they want to enjoy it.
Thanks for taking your time to read my review and I hope you enjoy gaming.
Cheers!
