Hello fellow people of Vizzed, my name Is 18mlivingston or if you want my real name Max Livingston. I live in the state of Utah and am currently 16, and today hi will tell you why I should be a local mod. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why should I be a mod? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a very simple question with a very simple list of answers which I will list accordingly. 1.Very Hard to get angry: A big thing that happens sometimes is that Mods get angry and take out there anger using their mod powers for whatever reason, I however am extremely hard to tick off and even if your opinion of something is different than mine I will most likely respect your opinion. 2. Not afraid to punish rule breakers if necessary: Another job of a Mod is to make sure everything runs smoothly with no problems if they can help it. Though sometimes things happen that require the Mod to step in and make a decision, if the problem requires punishment or the help of higher ups I will do so without hesitation. This stands true even if the rule breaker is my best friend or something of that nature, so I will punish if punishment is allowed and necessary. 3. I am pretty modest: When everything is smooth and no chaos ensures, I will act just like a fellow member regardless of my status. Just because I'm a mod doesn't mean I need to act like I'm special or above everyone else. I think of being a mod as being a member with the power to make sure that the board is a happy place and where you shouldn't be afraid to state your opinion, not just a sort of Class in a RPG game that I show off. 4. I generally care about this site and it's members: I always ask myself why I keep coming back to this site, when all other boards I went to I lost interest and have yet to come back. Though I realize now the reason for that is that I really care for this site. I care about the site, the board, the members of the board, the people like David who created this wonderful site. So if I become a mod, I will make sure to the best of what a local mod can do, to make This wonderful site flourish. This concludes the main reasons why I should be a mod. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Motivation -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A user asked me what my motivation was, well as I previously stated I really care about this site and wish it to flourish for as long as possible. I seek nothing more than to make people happy and making sure chaos does not ensue makes the members happy, which is my motivation to be a mod. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why should you vote for me? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To be honest, I whether you vote for me is really up to you. If you feel that I should be a Mod, feel free to vote for me and if not then vote for whoever you think would be better than me since I really just want to help this site stay happy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why shouldn't I be a mod? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You may be asking yourself why I even put this here, well I'll be honest to say that I'm not perfect and have flaws like everyone else and I will tell you all the problems that may arise with me being a mod. 1. Will be on a little less than I should: I am in school, and I currently get the High Honor role with a 3.7 or 3.8 GPA which is great to have. Though it is not that easy to do so since I need to work hard to keep those grades, and that work might interfere with my ability to moderate since I will be busy working to have all A's. Well, it's appreciated your sincerity about the time you can spend here, but at the same time, with the small team we have now, time has a very high value. Take into account that many staff members promoted to locals have resigned their staff role(s) so they can have more time to dedicate to modding, and even then some have found difficulties in keeping up. Are you fully aware of what the requirements of being a local are? You surely have the attitude, but what about quotas? Sorry if I sound a bit rude, I just don't want you to have false expectations of the position. Are you fully aware of what the requirements of being a local are? I too have some things I'm wondering about. 1. You mentioned reasons why you should be a mod, and those are all good traits that a mod should have, but what is it that makes you in particular stand out, why should the voter vote for you in stead of one of the other candidates? 2. You mentioned being busy with school and how that might affect your ability to be a moderator on the site. Do you still think you would be able to invest the time needed of a moderator and is the posting and CP quotas something you think you'd be able to keep up with? 1. Of all the applicants, you are the only one that I am personally not aware of, and your name sticks out like a sore thumb from the other ones. Your opening statements are clear, that's not what I'm asking. I want to know more about you, and what exactly your motivations are, beyond wanting to just in general help people out, since everyone wants to do it. Your application is out of left field, is there any issue in particular you want to work towards changing? What do you think a moderator really is, and what is their duty to the users of the site? What should a common interaction between mods/users look like? Also about the issue I want to change, I want to make this place that a person can feel comfortable about stating their opinion. What I think mods is is a user that makes sure everything runs smoothly, also everyone has a specific way to speak to users, some formal, some laid back unless a serious situation occurs. What is it that you think is your absolute best quality, in addition to your worst? You gave a list of good qualities, but let's assume you have to choose one. What do you think is the most important quality in a local moderator? A global moderator? An admin? I have a small philosophy question for you, I asked it to deg earlier, but I think it applies to you, now: A train is going 100MPH, on a track that can go one of two ways. It is currently on track to hit one person, who is of great worth to Vizzed, let's say geeogree. You can divert it away from geeogree, but if you do, it will instead hit 1,000 newbies. There is no way to save everyone, someone will die, either geeogree or the thousand newbies. Now, let's say that the situations are reversed, the train is on track to hit the 1,000 newbies, but you can divert it away from them to hit geeogree instead. What do you do in each situation? But since someone needs to die I will answer with what I think is best. Situation 1 While geeogree has done great things for this site and has went above and beyond to make this a great site to visit along with the others, I will have to choose to hit him since while he is a important person my view is that I must save as many as possible and I'm sure geeogree would understand have he survived the hit and only had to get a full body cast. But then again he may have a grudge, but that's not important at this point. Situation 2 For the second situation I will choose the same choice and turn to hit geeogree, since again my look on it is that I want to save as many members of Vizzed as possible even if a important person such as him will be lost.
