Today, I learned on nintendolife.com that a rumor was made by a youtuber called SuperMetalDave64 that Final Fantasy VII remake and Final Fantasy XV will be ported to the NX. Also, they both might be the definitive versions. According to nintendolife.com, SuperMetalDave64 is "a youtuber with a reasonably solid track record when it comes to rumours", meaning that it's very possible that this could be on the horizon. If this rumor is true, then those games would be the first mainstream Final Fantasy games to be released on a Nintendo home console since Final Fantasy VI (aka Final Fantasy III in North America at the time) for the SNES back in 1994. This would be huge for Nintendo's next gen console, and could make more 3rd party developers more likely to start making games for the system, something that the Wii U severely lacks.

Personally, if both Final Fantasy games do come out for the system, I probably won't buy a PS4 since the only other game I'm interested in on the system is Persona V. Compare that to all the 1st party titles that will eventually come out for the NX, and that would make the decision for buying a new console very easy for me.

It seems like Nintendo is always behind the curve in technology and focuses more on gimmicks.
I am sure it would help to have these games ported to the systems, but it seems like they are playing catch up with PS4 and Xbox One so they are already behind.

I have a feeling the ports won't be as good as they are gonna be on PS4/Xbox or missing features because of it.

Nintendo hasn't always been behind on technology. In fact I wouldn't say they're behind at all, they just made mistakes with the creation of the Wii U. All of their other systems have been extremely good and beloved by many gamers. Also Nintendo always strives for the pinnacle of quality. The return of mainstream FF games to Nintendo will be a huge win for Nintendo, and I am welcoming it and want it to happen.
