Has anyone ever heard of Game Dev. Story? It is a really fun app where you make your own game development company.

I have, it was one of the rare games that I bought on my IPad after its demo got my attention. I never put so many hours into a mobile at once but this one just wants me to keep going. After all I need that game of the year award that's really annoying to get despite making 8 bug free, 10/10 games in a single year. Yeah, I really did enjoy it, I'll probably end up getting it again.

The developers behind Game Dev Story has also made other games, they are quite similar but have different styles. I'll probably end up getting those too.

Nope never had until you made this thread. It seems...really interesting game to play. Those types of game I don't normally play. Because of how it would come out to be like either good or not good. I'll check it out to see how it is like to see if I will like it or not. '-'

Nope, I never heard of it, but it sounds a lot like Game Dev Tycoon which I love so it sounds like I can be a pretty cool game.

I remember seeing that game long ago, actually. It looked pretty cool, but Tycoon games just aren't my thing.

I think that I'd otherwise like it a ton.

Yeah, I've played it a bit. Honestly, I like Game Dev Tycoon better, but this one has the mobile market covered. I like the graphic style a bit better, but the controls are a bit strange on a modern Android phone. It's like you can choose to either play entirely with touch controls or you can use a virtual clamshell phone style d-pad with two virtual soft keys, which is weird, especially when the touch controls work perfectly for this kind of game.

I also feel that the game balancing isn't the best. When you start off in the first office, you can never make a game that the critics will like. You can try all you want, but you'll never get a collective score above 20 out of 40. But then, when you get into the second office, critics suddenly like your games, and you'll get decent ratings on them. It just felt so strange to me.

And then there's the randomness, which really hurt the game for me. You can randomly get a "burst of inspiration," which gives your game a sizable boost in every category, or you can have a blackout or hardware failure, which causes your points in every category to drop. The thing I always wondered with all the game dev simulations that I've played is "Why can't I just increase the development time?" I mean, that's what would realistically happen in a situation like that. If you lose part of the project, you would increase the development time.

Sorry if this is a long post, but that's just how I feel about Game Dev Story. It's still probably the best game dev sim you'll find on mobile phones, unless you have a Windows Phone, in which case you can get Game Dev Tycoon on there.
