Davideo7 : unfortunately that's how it is likely to be. Especially with how big the change will be it might take even longer.

Although, I believe there were significant changes between 1.7 and 1.8 that made things even more complicated server side than there were before.

We'll see, either way you are aware of this and when a release date for 1.9 comes we can look at it again.

I like the idea of a new 1.9 world without having people be able to bring items between those worlds. That brings a new name to hardcore.

I vote for the new world to be named something starting with G, to keep up with the trend.

geeogree : It wouldn't bother me to have the map reset, but I would like to get the items I collected from there before that happens.I have been playing around in a snapshot world, the new updates are going to make the game harder. On another note,  I seem to take a lot of fall damage and that natural regeneration really comes in handy. 1 thing I would like to be able to use is the "Depth-Strider" enchantment, sadly though the server "thinks" I'm trying to fly whenever I wear that enchantment in water.

David1217 : I will likely do the same thing although I'm not sure what I have left in Genrody. Likely Genrody will continue to exist and we will have access to another portal to another area. Probably won't actually need to collect anything.

I am looking forward to this though. I've played the snapshots a bit too and I'm liking it so far. Playing the snapshots alone and playing a survival map on a server with other people are 2 totally different things.

Just read an update from Jeb that 1.9 won't be out in 2015. I'm not surprised considering how late it is.

Apparently there are enough bug fixes left that they don't want to release during the holidays and have stability issues when people have time off to play lots. Looking to an early 2016 release date instead.

I'm not sure I understand why we would want to make it so we can't bring items into gen.
Wouldn't it be better to add a new hardcore world instead of changing an existing one?

Also, I think there aren't many structures there because at some point fairly early on, users weren't allowed to make permanent structures in gen.

Vanelan : I don't want users bringing outside items in whatever the new world ends up being because it would make that world more difficult. Instead of being able to bring in fully enchanted armor, weapons and tools along with all the building supplies I could ever need (which I currently have in greenerous) this would be a fresh world where people would actually need to work together a bit more and struggle a bit more to accomplish things.

I also asked for the Nether and the End to be restarted so that the entire game could be played properly but only through the new world. Any new world without the item restriction is a joke to play in from the very beginning rather than a challenge. I know Minecraft isn't really challenging but I prefer struggling to find resources and caving and fighting monsters to creative more where you have everything you need at your fingertips.

I dunno if there are still some unfinished projects on the server, but if there are, couldn't we use those instead?

Vanelan : that's kind of what I had in mind.

However, I don't think there is a whole lot of unfinished stuff on the server that is likely to be finished.

If I had my way I would wipe everything but Vizzed Ville and the Creative world (both have most of the construction that has been done) and start fresh with a 1.9 world/nether/end to play in. However, not everyone likes my idea of a total reboot of that much stuff

There are a lot of unfinished structures/pixel art at the bottom of the waterfalls.

Although I wouldn't be completely opposed to a gen wipe, I'm just not so sure I would want a hardcore map.
People buying items and bringing them isn't so bad imo. They wpuld spend mviz, so I think it should have some purpose.
I still think a new map should be added or another one should be repurposed. I was going to log in earlier to see some potential maps I could suggest, but the auth server was down for maintenance and now it seems David will be migrating the Minecraft server... so that might have to wait.

Vanelan : well, I'd also love to have a CTM map or something like that on the server as well.

There is a lot I would like to do but getting David to make the changes is a challenge.

geeogree : Question about all this....what about enderchests? Would they not let people bring things though I thought I would ask seeing how you were saying to not let them bring items though to the 1.9 world.

Sonicolmstead : I guess they would do that. Although if that is the case then the same should be true of the creative world but I think there was a way to disable them there so likely we can disable them in the new 1.9 world.

This is something I'll likely test once the server is back up

geeogree : hmm I guess I just have not played a round in creative enough to have tested that.

Sonicolmstead : I think that was one of the main concerns with regards to the creative world. Would it be possible for people to sneak things out. I think not having access to ender chests is a small price to pay for a totally clean world to work in.

geeogree : yeah I can agree with that. Some people may not but I think it would be nice.

Davideo7 : FYI. 1.9 is out now for Minecraft. Not sure how long the plugins and what not will take to update to 1.9 versions but I figured I'd let you know so we can start looking into this and updating the server overall.
