Are you a fan of the Call of Duty series? Do you own a Play Station 3 or Xbox 360? Then prepare yourself for some possibly upsetting news!

Today, we found out that the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 port to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will not feature a campaign! Now, if you really enjoy the campaign, this is most likely a deal breaker. If you are more into the multiplayer and want to know what was affected on that side, luckily it seems that the campaign was cut to support the multiplayer. If there's a bright side financially, it's that the price is supposed to be set at $49.99.

So let's look at why this is happening.

"The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware."

So it seems as though they didn't want to give a lower-quality experience, so they instead decided to make sure that the multiplayer and zombies gameplay would be still good to go! With the cut of the content, they'll have more focus and an overall better ability to deliver a similar multiplayer experience to the PS4 & Xbox One systems. They later go on to say that the port will still include the Specialist class system, "Chain-movement" system, and the new zombies mode "Shadows of Evil."

So, I ask you Vizzed: What are your thoughts? Do you like this, dislike this, or do you feel indifferent? I'm curious to see how others feel about this. I personally think that if the developers chose to make a higher quality product instead of a low quality product with more filler, and with a reduced price tag on the higher quality, I'm okay with it.

Even if the muliplayer was done a little better as a result of losing the campaign, I don't think a $10 drop would be enough. I would never pay $50 just for an online game and Zombies. I wouldn't have a problem with it if the game was more like $40 or so because if you're just getting slightly better graphics and new maps, I'd much rather keep playing the previous ones and get DLC.

Ready for a shock, everyone?

I think this is good. Please don't hate me. But yes, it's good for a big company who can fully embrace the new hardware to do so on at least some of their titles. If not, then why do we even have a new set of consoles? All of that extra power and those new features aren't there just to look at. And the PS4 wasn't made just to run PS3 games at 1080p and 60fps.

People cannot be satisfied. And if they could, they would be miserable that they couldn't complain anymore, and so would again be unsatisfied. All I've been hearing for two years from the cynics are "Have you noticed that all of the best games on new hardware are also on the old systems too?" and various other complaints about how the new generation of systems aren't doing anything that the old ones didn't do. And now that a company is moving a big name title on to a point that justifies the new hardware and shows off what it can do, everyone starts complaining about it? Make up my mind, folks! lol

So yeah, this stinks for PS3 and XBox 360 owners, but it was inevitable, and it's necessary. If we sit in one spot and never try to improve things and move forward, the industry won't be able to thrive. An industry that idles is an industry that will die. This is just the way gaming has always gone: a few years into the next generation of hardware the old generation begins having it's support dropped. It had to happen eventually, and we all knew it. Once everyone does this, we will finally be able to move into true next generation gaming. We'll all be grateful for it one day...after we all have new gen systems.
