After the success of RCT and the first expansion Pack known as Corkscrew Follies were released, there was a 2nd expansion pack that was being worked on and it was released on September 30, 2000, making it the first RCT game of the 21st Century. How would this one be different from the games before it, and would this expansion be better than Corkscrew Follies? I'll tell you by making this review.

Graphics: 9/10
Like the RCT and Corkscrew Follies, Loopy Landscapes has the same graphics as before. However, it does offer some interesting new scenery, such as ice, in fact one of the parks is made of icy islands, which is very unique and helps make RCT an even more unique experience than it was before. It also offers some interesting new rides as well, which help make your park even more wonderful to look at than before. Overall, the visuals in Loopy Landscapes haven't changed, but the new scenery and rides make it slightly better looking than without the expansion pack. For these reasons, I'm giving the graphics a 9.

Sound: 8/10 Like the graphics, the sound in Loopy Landscapes hasn't changed from previous titles. The music that plays for each of your rides is still very similar, and the sound effects for rides and the guests screams as they're going down a hill on a roller coaster also sound the same, though still very realistic. Overall, I'm giving the sound in Roller Coaster Tycoon: Loopy Landscapes an 8.

Addictiveness: 10/10 Just like with the original and Corkscrew Follies, Loopy Landscapes offers some of the most addicting gameplay you'll ever find in a PC game, or in any video game for that matter. The biggest shining point in Loopy Landscapes is the variety of objectives in the new scenarios. Instead of the usual having a certain amount of total guests or having a certain Park Value by a certain time, some of the parks offer unique objectives. One example is one of the parks has 5 different roller coasters partially complete. The objective here is to complete the roller coasters with an excitement rating of at least 6.60. Another example is certain parks require you to have a monthly profit from rides be a certain amount of money. These unique objectives give Loopy Landscapes some of the most addicting and interesting gameplay in the series. Also, there's new rides such as the Water Coaster, which give players a new coaster to master building. Overall, Loopy Landscapes offers gameplay and creative freedom that's just as amazing as the original and Corkscrew Follies, while at the same time adding new features and objectives that make getting the game worth the money. For these reasons, I'm giving the addictiveness a 10.

Story: N/A
Roller Coaster Tycoon: Loopy Landscapes doesn't have a storyline, therefore I'm leaving this category blank.

Depth: 10/10 Loopy Landscapes offers the most depth out of the original RCT games/expansions. There are a total of 30 new scenario's to complete, but this time, some of them have completely different objectives than scenarios from the original or Corkscrew Follies. If you have this as well as Corkscrew Follies, you'll have over 80 scenarios to complete, which will give you hundreds of hours of gameplay. There are also new rides to build as well as new scenery. When it comes down to depth, Roller Coaster Tycoon: Loopy Landscapes offers enough depth for me to give this category a perfect 10!

Difficulty: 7/10 In Loopy Landscapes, some of the new objectives the game offers make the game more challenging to complete, such as the one where you need to finish building the prebuilt roller coasters. That one requires a good amount of brainpower since one of the roller coaster you need to build is a bobsled roller coaster, which is one of the harder ones to build. Some of the other parks are also challenging, whether it's their objectives or the size of the parks themselves, Loopy Landscapes will challenge you more than Corkscrew Follies or the original did. For these reasons, I'm giving the Difficulty a 7.

Overall Score: 9.5/10
Roller Coaster Tycoon: Loopy Landscapes is a better expansion pack than Corkscrew Follies in every way. It offers many new scenarios with unique objectives, a bigger challenge, and new rides and scenery. If there's you only had to pick one expansion pack for the original RCT, this would be the best one to pick. It's still to this day one of the best expansion packs for any video game I've ever played. For these reasons, Loopy Landscapes is getting a 9.5 out of 10 from me.

gamerforlifeforever2 : Pretty good review man. You've definitely whet my appetite to play some amusement park sims. And jeez, it's been 5 years I think since I've been on an actual roller-coaster. Need to get to Six Flags Great America and go on the American Eagle again while it still stands. lol

Ferdinand : Thanks! I'm glad you liked my review! It's been to long since I've rode on an actual roller coaster too. I'd like to be able to go back to Cedar Point or Kings Island at some point.

NintendoTails : Yup, out of the original expansions, this is the best. Out of all the expansions in the series tough, my favorite would probably have to be Soaked from RCT 3.
