Overall, this has got to be one of my favorite games ever.

The graphics are really good, well, good for its time. I mean, just look at Atari games, you'll see the difference. Go ahead. I'll wait. Back? Good. However the graphics really aren't that different from other NES games.

The music of this game is something that will get stuck in your head forever. Very cute, and probably has it's own YouTube channel (lol).

Addictiveness is a big part of this game. Because there is no saving, you will be forced to keep replaying until you can finally get past the part where you keep dieing.

Story isn't that great. The usual damsel in distress.

The Depth on the other hand, is great. A bunch of levels, plus the same thing but harder.

Despite how great this game is, I still consider it to be the second hardest game ever (the hardest being Contra).

Slime Squasher : Nice attempt with your review. I certainly would call this game as one of the most revolutionary games of all time. Not sure about Fame or whatnot, but it certainly has influenced gaming in a VERY positive way for the past 30+ years.

I do have to dispute some of the things you said though in your opening paragraph and encourage you to do some research before posting stuff like that.

Nintendo was already making games before the NES/Famicom was released. They realized that Arcades were popular at the time so they were developing arcade machines for a few years before they thought of making their own console.

The NES wasn't marketed as a Game Console, but rather an "Entertainment System" Early advertisements even had it marketed as a "Home Computer". as early prototype versions of the NES had a keyboard and other peripherals. Also the Famicom was named thusly for "Family Computer"
By 1989 NES games were much larger than most home PC games. They in no way really wanted this to be marketed as a toy. Rather Nintendo wanted the public to know that their system was MORE sophisticated than anything else on the market at the time.

They even had an early agreement with Atari to bring the console into the US with a join venture in 1983 with contracts to be signed at CES that year, but Atari backed out because they saw the new Coleco system was running Donkey Kong and they thought that Nintendo was working with their rival. I could go on and on regarding this, but I will avoid doing so...so I don't bore everyone to death lol

With Regards to Atari and the video game crash, this happened not just because of ONE game, nor was it because Atari didn't have good graphics. The problem was the low quality nondescript titles that were flooding the market. There were way too many games released for the system and no quality control. ANYONE could release a game for Atari.

How Nintendo really revitalized the market was to only allow high quality developers that were "licensed" To release games for their system. Although eventually certain non-licenesed developers figured out how to get around the lockout chip on the NES, this still provided the map as to how game development should be moving forward.

Keep up with the reviews. The more you do it, the better they will be!

It's an OK first review; your structure is already very good. However, you should go into MUCH more details in order to attract gamers' attention. What makes it so difficult? Is dying so much actually addictive? What about all the shortcuts?

Jordanv78 : Wow, that was quite a lesson in video game history. I keep learning so much on Vizzed!
