So for the last 5 days I've had some sort of food poisoning and I'm not really sure what it could have been from. Before the first incident on Friday, the only thing I ate a few hours before I got sick were stuffed hash browns which had egg and pork. I ate them about an hour after I got them and they were cold.

I still had symptoms but I didn't get sick again until 2 days later and this was a few hours after eating cold empanada bites which also had pork and egg and it was from the same place too.

Is eating the pork cold bad or could it have something to do with the place?

Eating cold pork is bad, but since you ate at a place that mixes food, I wonder if they don't wash their utensils cleanly, and you got your food contaminated.

Try this link to see what you think applies best.

Odds are it's either cross contamination or the lack of sanitation on utensils or hands. I had food poisoning for the same reasons. (Beef and veggies, and rice... beef bowl)

zanderlex : Years back, I worked for a catering business. The rule for cooked food left out is 2 hours. Think of a deli tray. That's pretty standard everywhere I think. I'd say it's likely to do with the restaurant.

legacyme3 : I'm not exactly sure if they make it themselves or take them from wherever they get them and just keep them warm. Plus I've been having the same thing almost daily for years. Though cross contamination and sanitation makes a lot of sense, could have worked with the other parts of the food right after working with the pork before they cooked it. Makes even more sense since it happened with multiple food items, not just the same thing. Thanks.

Also it was 7-11. Lots of people I know have had complaints with them but I've been eating their food since I was like 8 so I kind of got used to their food.

Unless the pork 1) was very old, 2) badly cooked or 3) contaminated, there is generally no danger in eating cold meat in general. I find that reheating makes the meat tough and hard to chew.

However if your stomach is more sensitive, you might want to re-heat it properly (microwave, stove) in order to kill the bad bacteria - refrigeration only slows down their proliferation. Speaking of which, always refrigerate leftovers promptly in the fridge to stop bacteria proliferation (making sure it's not TOO hot if you are using a plastic container). I have never been into convenience store food so I can not make comparisons, but that is the general trick for home-made food

If the pork was fully cooked before getting "cold" then it should be fine. Depending on what the circumstances were between the time when it was cooked and the time it got cold.

If it was sitting out on a counter uncovered, than maybe that would point towards a clue, but if it was covered and not in direct sunlight or something. It should be fine.

Might have had something to do with the ingredients being bad before cooking the dish. Who knows.

Cold pork, or any cold meat from a restaurant is no good; it even sounds gross.

Either way cold meat/pork is bad especially from a fast food place. It's really gross as well... I'm literally sick already just thinking about it. Sorry you got sick.

zanderlex : Food poisoning is the only logical explanation I can come up with. Either that or they served you food that was out-of-date.
