INTRODUCTION

Before I begin my walkthrough, I always like to give a little description of the game first. If you are playing this game for the very first time, I'll give you a little insight on what to expect from it, as it will hopefully make you more comfortable while playing. Castlevania II: Simon's Quest is a really fun game to play, of course. Your character's name is Simon Belmont, and he's trying to destroy Dracula and remove a curse that he has placed upon him. The only way to properly destroy Dracula in this game is to gather all of his body parts, go to his castle in Castlevania, resurrect him, and then kill him again (interestingly enough). Also, there will be 3 different endings to this game: one good ending, one normal ending, and one bad ending - all of which depending on how long it takes you and how many continues you need to do to complete the game in its entirety. Don't worry though because I won't tell you what the endings are...yet. And don't worry if it takes you a while to get use to this game. If you get through everything, the bottom line is its an accomplishment in itself and you should be proud regardless. With all that said, lets move onward with this quintessential game.

WALKTHROUGH

So you start your quest in the town of Jova. Before you do ANYTHING, I should tell you that while you're playing this game, day will eventually turn to night and then back to day again. At night, all of the people will turn to zombies that you can get Hearts from. Hearts will be used as your currency in this game. Another thing is you won't be able to go into and shops or churches at night. Now that I've told you all that, let me tell you about the pause menu (in this guide, I will call this a status screen). Simply press the Start button to bring it up. The "T" at the top is your Game Time, in which pausing the game will also stop the game time. Below that is an "E" which is your Experience. Next to that is a "L" and its your experience Level. Beneath that is a heart icon which is obviously your heart count and it will always have a maximum of 256. The next block is your item block that tells you what items you currently have activated. The block below that is where you will store the Dracula body parts you come across and your crystals as well. And finally, the last block will contain any weapons and/or tools you acquire throughout the game. Now lets officially get this mission started by returning to the game and immediately talk to the person next to you by pressing the B button. He gives you some wise advice by telling you to purchase a White Crystal. Go to the right until you get to a set of stairs and simply walk down them by pressing Down on the D-Pad. Talk to the gentleman in the cloak as he offers you the White Crystal you just heard about for 50 Hearts. Even though 50 Hearts is all of what you start out with, go ahead and buy it as you will most definitely need it later. Don't forget to bring up your status screen and select the White Crystal you've newly acquired. This is very important for you to do. It won't have any effect otherwise. You can choose to talk to the rest of the people in this town but its totally optional, not mandatory. For instance, one person claims that there is "a flame on top of a tree." Now if you ask me, that sounds like someone giving out misinformation to people, so be careful about what some of the people say in this game. If you walk around at the very bottom of this town, you'll notice a sign that tells you what the adjacent areas are, but you won't be needing that since I'm telling you where to go anyway When you come to a building with a cross on it, this is a Church and you can go inside and talk to the priest there as he'll replenish your health. Not every town has a Church, and you can NOT enter them at night, so try to be mindful of where you are and what you're doing. The guy that sold you the White Crystal isn't the only one in this town selling something useful to you, but you don't have any Hearts to get anything else, so I guess that means we need to get more. Head out of the town to the right as far as you can go, to the next screen.

Don't panic as you'll see your first set of enemies here. They're a couple of lightweights, trust me. The skeleton only takes one hit with your whip and the werewolf will take two hits. If you get too close to the werewolf, he starts jumping at you. Still not that hard, right? Make sure you collect any Hearts that they will leave behind. Throughout this game, you'll see 3 different kinds of Hearts. The small, full heart is worth 2 Hearts, the big half hearts is worth 4 Hearts, and the big, full heart is worth 6 Hearts. Keep making your way to the right until you get past the forest and come to a bridge on the next screen. Try not to go too fast at this part because these fish people jump out of the water from right beneath you. If you don't kill them fast enough, the shoot fireballs at you which can be very bothersome when you're this close to the water. Falling in the water in this game is an instant death, so just try your best not to. At this point, its probably close to turning to nighttime if it hasn't already. It will always be preceded by the message "What a horrible night to have a curse." The night has good things and bad things that come with it. The good thing is that when you defeat an enemy, the reward will be greater than that of the daytime. The bad thing is the enemies will become harder to defeat and take more hits to kill, but its still fairly early in the game to where it shouldn't take you too much more effort. As you keep making your way to the right on the next screen, you'll eventually come across something that looks like purple/pink water. It isn't literally water but its a poison marsh, which means you can enter it but your health will slowly be depleted the longer you're in it. Keep heading to the right until you come across your first mansion...Berkeley Mansion, where you'll find the first of Dracula's body parts. It doesn't matter if you enter the mansion during the day or during the night. The enemies inside will be the same difficulty regardless of the time of day. Also, you should make a note that the Game Time stops when you enter a mansion. When you leave the mansion, the Game Time will resume from where it left off when you first entered the mansion. With that said, I recommend you spend as much time as you need in each mansion...collecting as many Hearts and experience as you can as you'll need both as you progress.

So, welcome to your first mansion! The first thing you have to do in each mansion is find another guy in a cloak similar to what you saw when you got the White Crystal back in the town of Jova. He sells you an Oak Stake that you have to use on the glowing orb that you'll find later on in the mansion, then grab the bag it leaves behind containing one of Dracula's body parts. Once inside the mansion, if you do NOT have your White Crystal equipped, then you'll probably feel helpless because all you see in front of you is a huge lake with no way to cross (see screenshot).

You need to bring up your status screen
and make sure you have the White Crystal equipped first. After you've selected said crystal, the invisible platform should appear and then you'll have an idea of where you need to go next (see screenshot).

Jump up to the platform with the knight. He's not so hard to defeat either because all he does is charge at you with his lance. A couple of hits with your whip and he's done for. Make your way to the right. You'll encounter your first skeleton with a sword and shield but they're not much more different than a normal skeleton. When you come to your first set of stairs, do NOT go down. Instead, head up the second staircase and go to the left
. On the way, you'll come to your first enemy blob and gargoyle respectively. The blobs can also be bothersome as they stick to the ground and the ceiling while jumping around, so its best to kill them as quickly as possible. Same way with the gargoyles except they take two hits and they shoot two fireballs at you at a time, while also jumping up and down. And these enemies aren't even the most annoying thing in this mansion. We'll come to that part rather shortly. Hopefully you didn't take too much damage trying to get by these guys. When you get to the end, start jumping up the platforms as you kill the skeletons and knights as you make your way up. When you reach the top, head up the stairs and to the right. You'll eventually come to a point where you have to jump up to the next platform. THIS is the most annoying thing I mentioned earlier...fake floors. If you tried to skip a step and went too quick, you probably fell through the floor and hopefully you didn't hit any of the spikes that are below this floor. Spikes don't cause an instant death, but they take a pretty good chunk of your health, so beware of them. If you see this next screenshot, then you'll notice that the first block is obviously fake. I tried to take a picture of what it would be like when your character went through the first two blocks, but it was really tough to do all at once (see screenshot).

Here, the first
two blocks are fake so you have to jump high enough and far enough to get to that third block past the column. Keep heading to the right to the next screen. You'll encounter what looks like a normal skeleton here. But when you get closer, he jumps back while firing a bone at you that bursts into flames when it hits the ground (for some reason). Also, you'll notice a guy in that familiar looking cloak below you. He's the Oak Stake salesman that sells you the stake you need for 50 Hearts. You should have at least 50 Hearts at this point. If you don't, feel free to keep going back and forth to keep spawning enemies and kill them until you do. When you get to the end, head down the 2 sets of stairs and go to the left. Jump up to the next platform and head up the stairs, past a couple sets of spikes, and talk to the salesman. Buy the Oak Stake and head back in the direction from which you came but instead, take the 3 staircases all the way down. Start making your way to the right and STOP when you get to the second enemy skeleton. Don't kill him yet, but watch his movements. As he comes towards you he...turns and goes the opposite direction? Why in the world would he do such a thing you ask? Its because there's really no floor in front of him. You might see a floor, but its another fake floor. A good way to tell if there's a fake floor is to watch the skeleton's closely. When they just randomly change direction for seemingly no reason, that means there's a fake floor in front of them. This particular fake floor is, again, only two blocks long, so you should be able to jump over it with no problems. At the end. head up the stairs and you'll come to your first glowing orb. Make sure that you're right next to it as you bring up your status screen and select the Oak Stake. To fire the stake, you have to hold Up on the D-Pad and press the B button. It'll make a weird noise and a glowing bag will appear. You now possess Dracula's Rib...or that's what it should say at least. No you're not crazy, and no there's no "r" in the word possess even though they spelled it that way. Anyways, that's all you came here for and now its time to leave. I recommend you hang around at least until you get your experience to level 1 AND do yourself a huge favor by collecting the maximum of 256 Hearts before you leave the mansion. You can't go higher than level 1 yet, but make sure you get there. You'll notice that if you have your newly acquired Rib selected, Simon will have a shield whenever he's not moving. All the shield does is protect you from those pesky fireballs that you were probably cussing at earlier XD You can take a shortcut out of the mansion by falling through the fake floor.

When you leave the mansion, head all the way back to the left to the town of Jova where you started. If you just keep going to the left, you should eventually get back there. Remember when I said that there's more than one person that sells something important in this town? When you get back to the town, head up the stairs, head to the right, and go through the doorway. Also, make sure its the daytime here or you obviously won't be able to enter. Talk to the salesman in here and he sells you Holy Water for 50 Hearts. You can also visit the Church to heal if you wish, but do NOT do or buy anything else. You can purchase a Thorn Whip here, but don't bother. We will get an even better whip very shortly, so save your Hearts for now. Head back out of the town to the right. Keep heading to the right until you get to the set of stairs that goes down that you've been passing up. Now its time to head down these stairs. Try not to waste too much time when you keep heading right until you get to the town of Veros. Make sure its still daytime when you get here. Head inside the first doorway you come to. Wait a minute...this place is empty! Well its not really, and this is where your Holy Water comes in handy. Bring up your status screen, equip the Holy Water, and make your way to the far right wall. Hold Up on the D-Pad and press the B button to throw your Holy Water at the wall to break through it. Here, you'll find the hidden salesman that sells you some Daggers for 50 Hearts. Buy one and head back out of the building and go to the right. Visit the Church if you're hurt, then head up the only staircase in this town, and go in the doorway. Its another seemingly empty building, but this time the far right wall is solid. You have to throw your Holy Water on the ground to find the secret passage to the salesman. Go down as far as you can go to get to him. He sells you a Chain Whip for 150 Hearts. This whip will significantly increase your attack power. After you're done buying it, its time to leave the town to the right.

You will now be in Dabi's Path. Here, you'll be able to gain more experience towards level 2. Make sure to watch out for the flying eyeballs that follow you around, but they don't prove to be too much of threat since they only take one hit from your newly acquired Chain Whip. Head as far right and up as you can go to get to the next screen. Continue to the right until you can go down. You'll need your Holy Water to break through the two blocks at the bottom to go left. Keep heading left as you kill the eyeballs and bats as you go, until you get to a wall. When you reach the wall, throw some more Holy Water at the blocks to break them and uncover the Secret Flame. This flame is one of the most powerful weapons on the game, and make a note that it uses one Heart per use, so use it wisely. Proceed all the way back to the right to the next screen. You will now be in Aljiba Woods and the spiders here can be very annoying because they move around quickly and shoot webs at you. Keep making your way to the right a couple screens, ignoring the stairs that go down, until you get to the next town of Aljiba. If its night when you get here, than leave immediately because the zombies here can be very dangerous. Just go back into the woods, gathering experience and Hearts until it becomes day time. Go into the town once day breaks and hopefully you'll have at least 150 Hearts by now. Enter the very first building you come to here, and break the floor with Holy Water like you did before. Talk to the salesman at the bottom and he sells you some Garlic for 50 Hearts. You get two pieces, and this is also a very valuable weapon in the game that you'll need later. It stuns and kills enemies but try not to use any of it for right now. Head back out of the building. As you keep making your way to the right, you can enter the next building but it isn't necessary. Instead, keep going until you get to some stairs, head up, and go through the doorway that's right there. Again, use Holy Water on the ground to get down to another salesman that sells you some Laurels this time. They temporarily make you invisible, so be sure not to waste any because you'll need them for later. Head out and walk up the other stairway. Make your way all the way to the left and talk to the guy dressed in black and silver at the very end. He will exchange your White Crystal for a Blue Crystal, which you will automatically accept since its a good deal. The Blue Crystal can do everything that the White Crystal did and it has an additional power which you'll find out later. Exit the town to the right and you'll end up in a cemetery. Drop a piece of Garlic when you get here, and a salesman will show up who will offer you a Silver Knife. That's all we can do here for now, so turn back into Aljiba, and exit the town to the left this time. Keep going left until you get to the stairs you passed before. Now you'll go down these stairs. Head to the right one screen and you'll end up in Yuba Cave. Make your way through this cave as painlessly as you can until you end up at Yuba Lake. Immediately bring up your status screen and select your newly acquired Blue Crystal. All you have to do here is kneel by pressing Down on the D-Pad and hold it for about 5 seconds or so. Eventually, you'll see a passageway that opens up for you downward. Make your way down and go to the right to get to the next mansion...Rover Mansion!

The enemies in Rover Mansion are largely the exact same as the ones you experienced in Berkeley Mansion. The only difference is they only take one hit with your Chain Whip. Don't get too cocky though because there is a trick that you need to keep your eye on right at the beginning. Don't go up any stairs just yet. Make your way to the right until you get to the water. Jump to the first platform. Now you're probably thinking "I can't go any further" or something similar to that. I promise you, you can go further. Trust me when I tell you that you can jump through the next wall. Pretty sneaky, huh? In the next screen, jump over the water and pass up yet another stairway. When you get to some more water, jump to the platform and jump over the purple moving block. You'll want to take the lower path here because the guy selling the Oak Stake you need is there. Jump over the spikes and purchase the Oak Stake for 50 Hearts. Head back to the left until you come to the first stairway you see that you passed earlier. You'll go up a total of 3 staircases here until you get to the top. Go to the right until you get to another stairway that goes up. Go up it and go to the left. Here, you'll need to do some creative jumping to get all the way to the top. This time, go to the right and go down the stairs at the end. Head back to the left and go down as far as you can go when you get to the edge. Make your way to the right until you see the next orb. Just like last time, select your Oak Stake from the status screen and hold Up on the D-Pad and press the B button. Then grab the bag containing Dracula's Heart! Before you head back out of the mansion, make sure you get to level 2. If you're not yet there, kill some enemies until you are and while you're at it, get your Hearts total up to 256 again. Go ahead and leave the mansion when you've done all that.

Now you get to, yet again, backtrack ALL the way back to the town of Jova (the very first town you started the game in). I won't spend a bunch of time telling you every detail on how to get back because its pretty straightforward on how to get back. Just keep going to the left as far as you can until you get back. Once you eventually reach the town of Jova again, remember to visit the Church if you need to heal and this time, go through the town and exit to the left. Here, you will encounter some new enemies but they won't be anything you can't handle. Another thing to note here is you can begin your trek to level 3 in experience. When you get to the left one screen, you'll come to a HUGE poison marsh. This is where you need your Laurels for the first time. I don't recommend you try crossing the marsh without the Laurels. You'll quickly realize that you won't even come close if you do. Right before you enter the marsh, bring up your status screen and select one. You only have a limited amount of time to use this, so start crossing as soon as you use a Laurel. Don't worry about the enemies here since they can't hurt you anyway. After you're done crossing, keep making your way to the left one screen until you get to a guy on a boat. Once again, bring up your status screen and select Dracula's Heart here to make the guy "show you the way." Don't panic as the fish people jump at you. They won't hit you so long as you stay still. Make sure you jump off when the boat gets to the other side because it immediately turns back if you don't and it will result in a death. Keep going to the left until you get to the next mansion...Brahm's Mansion. DO NOT ENTER THIS MANSION YET! Keep moving to the left as we'll come back to it shortly. First, we have to get something important. The next part is arguably the hardest and most annoying part on the entire game. You have to make yet another series of tricky jumps to get to the other side of this lake you come to. The only thing you have to keep in mind here is to be sure to jump only while the platform is rising, or you are sure to miss the next platform and die in the water. Proceed to the left as far as you can go until you get to a cliff. On the way, you'll pass a couple new enemies, but just hit them with you whip once and you should be fine. The man in the cloak will give you a Diamond when you talk to him. This is another very powerful weapon that utilizes one Heart when you use it. Unfortunately, now its time to enter the mansion you just passed, and that entails going back across the platforms over the water. If you're having too much trouble crossing these platforms, you can choose to skip getting the Diamond altogether, but I don't recommend it. Enter the mansion when you're ready.

I should warn you that once you enter the mansion, most of the enemies here take two hits to kill. But this mansion is an easy one if you use common sense, so it shouldn't be that difficult. Take the first staircase you see that goes up. Then take the next one up, then take the next one up. When you go up the third staircase, go to the left until you get to yet another set of stairs that goes up. Here, you'll take 2 upward staircases. Move back to the right to take 2 more stairs up. When you finally see a gargoyle, then you're journey to the top of this mansion is complete. Hopefully you didn't get too tired of just seeing Simon constantly walk up some stairs XD Anyways, this would be a good time to go back and forth again to keep spawning enemies and killing them until you get to level 3, if you're not already there. Remember that if you stand still, you can block the gargoyle's fireballs with your shield. When you're done doing that, make your way to the right to the next screen. Go down the stairs after you've killed the 2 gargoyles, and kill the knight as you go to the left one screen. You should immediately notice the Oak Stake salesman. After you've purchased it, make your way down as far as you can go, and go to the next screen to the right. Just go about your business as you walk across the hallway (don't worry about the bats) and you'll come to the game's first "boss." This guy is pretty easy to defeat and I'll describe how to the best I can. Basically, you just walk under him before he gets too low and turn around and start whipping him like crazy. When he gets too close, just back off a little and start whipping some more. You should be able to destroy him before he gets you cornered. But just in case you haven't killed him yet, you can quickly throw some Garlic on the floor that will freeze him and that should give you enough time to finish him off. Make sure you pick up the Golden Knife that he leaves behind when you've killed him. Its yet another very powerful weapon, but this one consumes 2 Hearts when you use it. And hey, look! They spelled "possess" correctly this time! Head to the right one screen and you'll see the next orb containing Dracula's Eyeball. Oh...well, it looks like they accidentally spelled "possess" correctly last time XD Note that you don't really need to use Dracula's Eyeball at all because all it does is make you see riddles through the walls, which isn't a necessary ability (again, because you have me). So for now, I would keep Dracula's Rib equipped. Start making your way back out of the mansion. Ah! The Grim Reaper is back! Thankfully, you don't have to beat him again, so just quickly run underneath him. While you're leaving the mansion, visit the Oak Stake salesman again, and purchase a 2nd Oak Stake from him. Also, remember to make sure you're at experience level 3 and go ahead and fill up your Hearts count before leaving.

After you've left the mansion, make your way back to the right to the guy on the boat. Before you talk to him, make sure that you're NOT holding Dracula's Heart this time. When you start across the lake, make sure that you do NOT get off on the other side. Instead, let him take you back across the lake and get off on the other side, making this look like you're going back where you just came from. When you get off and to the left one screen, you'll be in the town of Aldra. Make sure its daytime when you enter the town first. If you need to kill some time while its dark, just keep going back and forth like normal, and kill enemies until daybreak. In the town, you'll want to go up the stairs here and go to the left when you reach the top. You'll notice a guy walking around that looks just like the guy you exchanged your White Crystal for the Blue Crystal. Well this time, you'll exchange your Blue Crystal for the Red Crystal. After you've done that, you really don't need to do anything else here. Just make sure you have at least one piece of Garlic before you leave and heal at the Church if you need to. There's a guy that sells Garlic in this town if you need some. Exit the town to the left whenever you're ready. As you make your way to the left one screen, take the first stairway down. Instead of taking the next set of stairs down, just jump off the ledge to the left to avoid some fake blocks. There are some more fake blocks when you get to the ledge with the poison marsh underneath it. Proceed to the left until you end up in a graveyard. Keep making your way left until you get to a cliff. You'll want to throw some Garlic on the ground here to reveal a guy that gives you a Silk Bag. The only thing this Silk Bag does is double your Laurels and Garlic count to a maximum of 8. After that, head back to the right until you get back to the poison marsh. Use one of your Laurels to cross it. Take the 3 staircases up that you come to, and head to the left when you reach the top. Keep making your way to the left, through the woods, until you get to the town of Ondol. Again, make sure its still daytime here and if its dark, just hang around until the sun comes back up. When you first enter this town, walk up the first 2 stairways you see. Then, make your way to the left until you get to a doorway. Go inside and at the bottom, head to the right one screen. You'll find a salesman that sells the Morning Star for a whopping 200 Hearts. If you haven't been fooling around recently that much and you haven't made any frivolous purchases, you should have enough money to get this now. After you purchase the Morning Star, exit the town to the left. Keep going to the left until you seemingly can't go any further. When you're at Deborah Cliff, make sure you have your newly acquired Red Crystal equipped, and all you have to do here is kneel for about 5 seconds just like you did at Yuba Lake. Don't be afraid of this little, weird looking tornado that shows up. Let it take you to the next mansion we have to go to...Bodley Mansion. When the tornado drops you off, head inside.

The very first thing you'll want to do here is get your experience up to level 4. If you're not there yet, go ahead and keep moving back and forth like you've been doing until you kill enough enemies to get there. When you're finally there, head to the right until you get to the wall. Let me just mention that there was a reason you bought an extra Oak Stake at the last mansion. In this current mansion, you have to go a long way around to get to the Oak Stake salesman. Now that you should already have an Oak Stake, you don't have to do that. When you get to the wall, jump through it by standing on the first two blocks. Then proceed to the right and don't panic when you see those spikes. They won't hurt you if you hit them, but they will make your impending platform jumping a little more difficult. Equip your Holy Water and break through the top set of blocks with it. You have to combine jumping and throwing the Holy Water to be effective here. When you break the blocks, jump to the next set and just keep repeating that process until you eventually get to the other side of the water. When you do, go as far down as you can go, and you'll get to the orb. Use your Oak Stake on it to get Dracula's Nail. Now we have 4 of Dracula's body parts! Leave the mansion, and proceed to the left.

When you come to Uta Lake, make sure you have your Red Crystal equipped and kneel for about 5 seconds like you did at Deborah Cliff not too long ago. Head down the passageway that opens up and to the left one screen. Head up the platforms and use Holy Water to break through the wall. Go to the left as you make your way across more platforms until you get to the last platform. Let yourself fall down to the purple moving platforms just above the water. Again, use your Holy Water to break through the wall to get to the gentleman. He will give your Morning Star an even greater power by using a flame on it. We will now call your whip a Flame Whip. This whip is the most powerful weapon on the game, and of course you're going to need it. Head back to the right, and jump across the moving platforms over the water. You'll go up the platforms when you see them like you did before. This time, go all the way to the left as far as you can until you get to the next screen. You may encounter some pesky enemies here...mainly an enemy who is on fire and shoots fireballs at you that you can NOT block with your shield (for some reason). But keep making your way to the left to the next screen. Before you get to the next mansion, you'll come across an even bigger poison marsh...one that you've never seen this big. Use as many Laurels as you need to reach the other side and hopefully you have enough to do so. You'll probably get hit at least once or twice but if you're quick about it, you should be okay. When to get to the next and final mansion, Laruba Mansion, enter it whenever you're ready.

Just like the last mansion, the first thing you'll want to do here is get your experience up to levels 5 and 6. It'll probably take you a while but as always, it'll be worth it. After you've finished pounding enemies over and over again, take the first stairway in the mansion that goes up and to the left. Head left and go up the short stairway you come to, then proceed to the right until you get to the next screen. Do not take any stairs otherwise. Here you should start making your way up, so take the stairs. Go to the right and you'll eventually see the Oak Stake salesman. Buy one from him, and then head up the stairs that are right there. When you get to the wall, go as far down as you can go. Be mindful of the enemies here on your way down because they're placed in places that its almost impossible NOT to get hit. Keep heading down until you see some spiders coming from the left, then head in that direction. When the path splits, head down and talk to a guy who gives you free Laurels. That was nice of him, wasn't it? Anyways, you'll need to go across the spikes here. Some of these spikes actually shoot up in the air, so watch out for that. Feel free to use one of your Laurels you just received if you have to. Keep heading to the right to the next screen. The game's second boss is in the next room here, so prepare yourself. This guy, Vampira, might look menacing but again, he's another boss that's really not that hard to defeat. All you have to do is deflect the fireballs with Dracula's Rib, then jump up and start whipping him. That's really all there is to it. Grab the Magic Cross he leaves behind when you've defeated him as its necessary to kill Dracula. Proceed to the right when you've done so. Use your Oak Stake on the orb to collect Dracula's Ring. Now we have all the necessary parts to resurrect Dracula! Like the Grim Reaper earlier in the game, Vampira will show up again when you reenter the room. Just like last time, run underneath him as quickly as possible, and keep making your way back out of the mansion. Remember, make sure you've reached level 6 before you leave.

Now we're off to Castlevania! When you exit the mansion, head to the right back across the huge poison marsh from which you came. In fact, you'll want to make your way ALL the way back to the right until you get back to Bodley Mansion, and then you'll keep going to the right even more. Go all the way through the next town that you come to. Make sure you visit the Church to heal up if you need to because it'll be the last time you get a chance. The next screen to the right consists of normal looking enemies whom you've seen before but this time, the fireballs that they shoot go way faster than before, so beware of that. You know what to do when you come across the next poison marsh...bring up your status screen and use a Laurel to get across it. Keep heading to the right and take the staircase down when you see one, then proceed to the right to the next screen and go through the town of Yomi. Head through the graveyard to the right. When you come to the bridge, use Holy Water to break through the blocks to proceed across it. Make your way to the right to the next screen.

Well this is it, the Ruins of Castlevania. I bet your thinking that this will be one of the heaviest guarded places in the game...you cannot be more wrong about that. There are exactly 0 enemies here, so no need to start worrying now. Head to the right and when you get to the wall, break through some more blocks with your Holy Water and head down, down, down...ALL the way down. Make your way to the left until you can't any longer, then make your way to the right until you get to the last part of this game...

Dracula! Head up to the altar and place your five body parts on it and watch Simon burn them. That's it, game ove right? Hehe, no. Of course, you'll have to see everyone's favorite Prince of Darkness before you're done! But again, no need to worry too much. You can even use your Laurels against Dracula if you absolutely have to. But you won't have to. The best way to beat Dracula is to equip your Secret Flame and just start burning and whipping him like there's no tomorrow. He won't even have a chance and he'll eventually perish. Now, its game over and the only part that is left is the ending. Here are the 3 different endings (remember, this is going by Game Time not real time):

1. If it took you no longer than 7 days to complete the game, you'll get the good ending. Simon kneels next to Dracula's grave and he is free of the curse. When he walks away, Dracula's hand pops out of the grave.

2. If it took you anywhere from 8-14 days, you'll get the normal ending. Again, Simon kneels at Dracula's grave, but he does not survive long after the battle between the two.

3. If it took you longer than 14 days, you'll get the bad ending. You see Dracula's grave but you do not see Simon because neither of them survived their last battle. The people are still free from Dracula's curse, however.

CONCLUSION

So that game was fun, right? Fun, but also very challenging for you I'm sure. Obviously, it was probably pretty difficult for you to get used to especially if you had never played a Castlevania game before. In my opinion, I always like to play games that makes you think if you want to progress more into the game like this one does. But like I said in the beginning of this walkthrough, if you got through the game completely, it doesn't matter how long it took you to finish it. It doesn't matter if you got the bad ending or the normal ending. The point of playing this game is hopefully you got some enjoyment out of playing it and I hope you got even more joy out of making the journey with me, and reading this guide.

Thanks for reading!
