Man, I could not wait to do this one. I absolutely love Bulletstorm. It is one of my favorite first person shooters, and brought in some stuff I have never seen before! There is one thing I want to say before I start the review. And that would be, even though this is the PS3 version, and I only played the Xbox 360 version, this is the closest I can review. The reason why is that there is only, Bulletstorm PS3, and Bulletstorm PC on vizzed. Now, without further a do, let us get on with the review!
The game play of Bulletstorm is amazing. Possibly one of the best times I have had in a video game. Now, there is your campaign, and your multiplayer, which is like Halo Reach's firefight in a way, mixed with Gears of War's Horde mode. I love this game mode. I have put in over a hundred hours in the multiplayer in the first few weeks I played the game. There is also a very good story with lots of difficulty game modes. But I will talk about the story in the next section. There are a few key elements which made Bulletstorm feel amazing. One, is the detailed story. The second, is the cool weapon system and upgrade system, which lets you upgrade and buy weapons, after gaining points by doing what is known as skill kills. The higher the skill kill and combo, the more points you get. I loved this system. It made me want to keep doing all sorts of stuff to get those points.
The story is also amazing. With there being a deep story, with hilarious moments throughout the game, it makes it feel like a new genre of First Person Shooters. The characters are also really cool, and the main character Grey, is ridiculously funny. A lot of spoiler related stuff happens so I will not go into any more detail with the story.
The graphics in Bulletstorm are beautiful. The game was made by the same people that made Gears of War, Epic. So you already know there how beautiful it is. Sadly, there are quite a few loading screens, but thankfully, you play way more than you get loading screens. I love this. Unlike Skyrim's constant loading screens, Bulletstorm puts you in action 90% of the time.
The sound is also beautiful. You can hear every little detail if you listen closely and the gunfire and explosions sound realistic. Only down side, is how much of that there is in the game haha! Anyway, like I said, this game has some of the best sounding sound effects I have heard in a long time. Epic really knew what they were doing huh? I think so.
This game is very addicting. With there being so many difficulties to play through, the never ending fun of the multiplayer, and collectibles and achievements/trophies, you will never get bored. Or at least I never got bored. There is just so much to do in Bulletstorm how can you get bored? And with the collectibles, you have news bots to destroy, drink all the booze, or destroy all the booze, and destroying all the fire flies. Even though most of these are destruction based, I still count them as collectibles due to you get achievements for them. Or on the PS3 trophies.
The difficulty is actually pretty easy. The controls are easy to figure out and they work very smoothly. For Epic to make a first person shooter and do this good at it, I am shocked, considering they do mostly third person shooters from what I can understand. I might be wrong on that though. Also, the difficulty does get really hard when you play on a higher difficulty but your first play through should be on the first difficulty to breeze through the story and get used to the controls.
Overall I rated this game a solid 10. It is one of the best first person shooters I have ever played hands down. Thank you for reading my review, and as always, I wall see you in the next review. |
