Ok so this is my second review I have ever done so there will probably be errors and not that good at explaining the game detail so feel free to give me tips on making my next review better. I may be bad at this stuff but I love doing it and will work to do a better job next time. Be honest and a little blunt to show how bad or off I am.
Hello all and welcome to The Legend of Dragoon. To me, this is probably one of the best PlayStation one games I have ever played since I was little. Sadly though I can put my full thoughts out cuz I just started disc 2 but will do my best.
Graphics:7/10
For a PlayStation one game the graphics are pretty great. I love the detail they put into the buildings and the background. Not too bright colors and at the same time not too dark. The way they drew the characters is nice and not too bad of detail. The way they drew the characters face, body, weapons, and armor shows that they put effort in making the game good. You can see the players facial expressions(maybe not all the time but I see it. Each town you go to has a completely different look than the last making each one unique also making the one playing the game feel I guess the word would be interested in searching the towns and exploring every building they come across. The creatures were each unique in their own way. I have played many games on the PS1 and the enemies on here were drawn pretty well. Each had their own attacks, colors, shapes. Each enemy I saw and defeated just made me want to see what the other one looked like.
Sound:3/10
Not much I can think to put here. The music while you were on the world map was I guess soothingish is the right non-word to use for me. It kinda gave me the feel that I was doing ok but at the same time it has that tune where I felt like I should be ready for a random battle to pop up. The battle music was kinda odd though. Every time I heard it I felt like I was in a cave and the party was in the back. It just didn't sound like I was fighting. It was really annoying hearing Double Slash every time I did the attack sequences perfectly which was about 9 out of the 10 times. They shouldn't have put that in there. I did like the boss battle music though.
Addictiveness:10/10
This game is very addictive. From the beginning of the game to the end of it I didn't want to stop. Each battle I fought I wanted to do another one. Each town I visited I wanted to explore and seen another. Each area I went to looked different than the last and more and more exciting to see. Mostly all I wanted to do is explore and just beat the crap out of any enemy that got in my way. The only other games I got this excited about was Final Fantasy 7 and 9. The graphics, fights, cutscenes, areas, and even the attacks wanted me to continue on. I wanted to see what the next attack I get would be like.
Story:8/10
The story so far has been pretty good and unexpected at the same time. You start out running through what I think is a forest and you are about to fight some guys and then get attacked by a dragon. Just like books the introduction needs to pull you in and that right there got me wanting to play more. After a girl saves you from the dragon you go to the village Seles. Have been destroyed by soldiers and after defeating them you find out that Shana was taken by them. After that the story just gets better and better. There are so many twists and turns that I felt like I was on a roller coaster. The only thing I thought that sucked so far is that it likes getting me excited and sad all within a few minutes. But that is what makes a game great am I right?
Depth:8/10
The gameplay is like a lot of other turn based rpg games. You can change gear, learn new attacks, fight odd looking creatures, and explore multiple areas. I don't know how to explain exactly what it is like so will just stop here.
Difficulty:5/10
The difficulty I would say is about moderate. If you know what you are doing or have played games like this one before you won't have too much trouble defeating enemies and getting through the game. The boss battles are pretty easy at first but seem to get harder as you play. Basically as long as you keep updating your equipment and keep some potions handy you should be ok but should still be careful.
