Okay then, time for another thread.
In the events of Sonic Boom, Shattered Cyrstal, Metal Sonic, for the first time in like, a millennium, would appear as an important character and rival to Sonic in a Major console release. Although originally planned for Sonic 06, sadly, or, not so sadly, he never appeared.
But before I go on, I'd like to explain what I mean above.
I mean, think about it. Metal Sonic appears in virtually no major console releases, since Sonic Heroes, and even then, between you and me, It wasn't really him. Just a giant monster and nothing close to the traditional fight that he might give us. Metal Overlord should have been it's own robot or something. In fact, I think Sonic Hereo's should have been something different with the story line almost altogether. (At least not making characters fight each other for pointless reasons and visiting the exact same levels. I mean really. Sonic Adventure and Adventure 2 please.)
But That aside. Metal Sonic finally has appeared in a major Sonic Console game. albeit an alternate Universe. And while we could say, "Yeah, but he was in Generations." It doesn't feel right just making him a forgettable rival battle for the sake of. . . . well. It was Sonic Generations. It wasn't anything new or complicated. Just a look at Sonic's past anyways.
And that Was Classic Metal.
But Sonic Boom, actually characterizes Metal Sonic and uses him in a unique. Albeit only a little.
So buyer beware, as I exclaim caution! Spoiler down below.
. . . .
I watched all of the Metal Sonic Cutscenes in Sonic Boom, so I think I've got the picture. Still debating if I want to get the game or not, but that's other news. The gameplay looks fun, at least. And I have plenty of siblings that can get me through the boring stuff. (Or outright play through the whole thing while I'm not looking.
)
But the way Metal Sonic was used intrigued me in this game. Take a look or yourself if you want. I caught something pretty interesting.

In our first scene, (video) Metal Sonic comes out of nowhere to join countless robot in the surrounding of Sonic's friend. Despite Stick's terrible character it seems the creators knew what they were doing. Metal Sonic lands, points, and walks forward. A silent killer zeroing in on his enemies. I'll admit. It was awesome to Metal Sonic commanding all these robots and walking forward- in HD. Taking part in an important story like this is something we haven't been treated too since Sonic OVA. He just nods at them before pointing. All marching in on them like lifeless zombies wanting to add the gang of heroes into their despair. It's so epic. Awesome.
Beautiful.
Metal Sonic, in all his glory, for once taking control as Supreme sub commander under Dr. Robotnik. Marching on all his foes-
Without hiding in the shadows through the whole game only to be fought in the form of a monster at the end afterword.
After backing off, Sonic and his friends are separated from Metal as the doors to the temple or whatever close behind them. (I don't know, I'm sorry.
) And Metal Sonic comes to the entryway.
All that separates him from entering is the imprint of a blue hedgehog's hand.
It's a reminder. . . .
That he isn't Sonic.
*pound fist in door.*
Metal Sonic, they definitely got his character right here.
