Introduction:7/10

WWF SMACKDOWN! 2: Know Your Role can go from (One) to (Four) players and it is a action 3-d pro-wrestling game published by an ex-video game making company called "THQ" developed by "Yukes" which was released for the Sony Playstation console in the late winter fall on the month of October ,of the year 2000.As the logos of WWF and THQ ends, itll take you to an oldschool Wwf intro video that will start playing with the first ever Wwf smackdown theme, while the video is showing and introducing all of the top Wwf superstars ,who were the divas, jobbers, commentators ,the faces and the heels of the Wwf attitude era at that time. The intro video will last about a minute, which will then take you to the title screen with the wwf smackdown logo on it..After you press start on the title screen, you will be on the menu screen where you either choose options, season career mode, create a wrestler mode,or just make a quick matchup of your own choosing ,where there is a variety of so many different types of matches to choose from .You can play One on one exhibition with manager ,or no manager match, tag team matches, hardcore matches, falls count anywhere matches where you dont even have to start off in the ring, casket matches,I quit matches ,slobber knocker match where you face the entire roster ,while enduring every single superstar, one at a time ,ladder matches for titles, table matches ,cage matches ,handicap matches , triple threat matches, and fatal four ways.TLC is also a match to choose from, but will have to be unlocked in season mode.

Game Play and difficulty:3/10

Okay, now there has been a lot of Wwf failed attempts back in the day to make a decent wwf wrestling video game with comfortable and understanding controls,as wwf games debuted for the playstation one, in the late nineties such as ,WWF in your house, wwf the arcade game, wwf warzone and wwf attitude. All those games were a pain to learn the controls ,and didn't really deliver that much fun for the Wwf fans at the time ,but thankfully, Wwf smackdown one,and Wwf smackdown! 2: know your role for the playstation, finally got it right with simpler controls that are really smooth and easy to preform all different kinds of wrestling maneuvers  weither you're standing in front of your opponent, from behind,on the turnbuckle,on ground ,easy to irish whip, taunt ,pinning, normal signature moves that you don't need to earn the special for, and also the special finishers are simple to preform which is simply (L1) and not a button combination, as if you have to put in a code or something just to do a finisher like all the other wwf games were. The controls are as easy as one, two, three, and doesn't confuse the gamers with frustrating controls, such as the previous Wwf wrestling games that didn't do so well for good game play. The game play in smackdown 2 isn't like the modern day wwe wrestling games you see today, wwf smackdown 2: know your role, is  fast paced, arcade style, and that's not a bad thing in my opinion.

Sound F-X and Soundtrack:8/10

As for the sound f-x in wwf smackdown 2,the sound f-x of the game sounds pretty good. The ring sounds great when an opponent is being slammed on it,the sounds of the select screens sound good, and everything else sounds okay. The soundtrack of this game is amazing ,where all of the superstars themes sound very clear ,and also the kind of bgm soundtrack music for the matches in this game, fit very well during the matches that has that arcade feel ,while the two ,or four superstars collide till the finish.

Story ,Season career mode:4/10

The Story career mode in wwf smackdown 2 is very limited. There are some cut-scenes every time ,but only last about nine seconds ,and sometimes a little more closer to 1 minute ,and doesn't really deliver an interesting storyline like wwf no mercy for Nintendo 64 delivers ,wwf no mercy had its story line which makes you read and has an interesting script for a video game, but dont count smackdown 2's story mode out! it does has its moments at times but smackdown 2 lacks of making a well made decent story line .Another flaw that really ruins it for season mode is ,on every show,Smackdown or Raw is war ,there will be a line up of eight matches that are booked and your match is at the top of the screen. You will have to first go through every ones match before you can get to yours.(Not having to look at the match, but forced to look at both superstars pictures with two life meters ,waiting till one drains out to reveal the winner as it takes about nine seconds to finish, you will have to keep doing that repeatedly for the next 6 more matches ,and also the loading screens and cut-scenes ,just to get to your match. One reason why i barely play season mode ,except if i wanted to unlock someone like, "Stone cold" Steve Austin ,or the "heartbreak kid" Shawn Michaels.

Create a wrestler and create a stable:

In the create a wrestler mode, you will be given lots of parts to either build one of your own created wrestlers,or the chance to build a wwf wrestler that is not even in the game, where you'll actually find pieces to match them up like, superstars heads, upper body attires ,and lower body attires. You'll find goldust peices,Double J Jeff Jarret ,the version of the rock with sunglasses and backstage attire, and many more ways to be creative as you explore all the different pieces to match,or to build your own way.Note: most of the wwf superstar pieces you will have to unlock. After building your character ,you will be given the choice of different move sets.Titantron video, entrance animation, and even create a stable ,where you'll decide their allies,or managers. You can create a stable of four different wrestlers, for example, lets say you wanted to create ravens flock from WCW,you will create all four of them, and name them "The Flock"  or anything else that comes up your mind.

What i think of the game Wwf smackdown! 2:Know your role, what i didn't like, and what i would have prefered:

The sony playstation game console, always amazed me back in the day ,when playstation was at the top of video games showing a new era of gaming with 3-d cinematic movie scenes ,since i used to always play "Royal Rumble" for the super-nintendo entertainment system in the mid 90's and always thought of a future wrestling game, where there were superstar entrances, title belt celebrations, and even backstage interviews.Knowing what the sony playstation was capable of,i expected a wwf wrestling game where it had these features, unfortunately, there never was any of that back in the day for playstation one.We had to wait for "Wwf Smackdown Just bring it" and "Wwe Smackdown Shut Your Mouth" for the playstation 2 two years later to be able to see all those kind of things.I would have prefered the makers of wwf smackdown 2 know your role, made the wrestlers entrances better ,showing the wrestlers in video game form walk down the ramp and into the ring flashing their taunts while their theme music plays in the background ,instead of just a titantron video with the character model, walking in the same spot for just twenty four seconds. Also at the falls count anywhere matches ,i would have prefered at least a screen shot picture of the backstage area you are about to go to before you get there instead of a dark screen that last about eight to nine seconds everytime you decide to change areas. Also all the pay-per-view arenas are all the same, just with a different logo on the middle of the ring.I would have liked different arena sets for each pay-per-view,as "Wwf No Mercy" had it for Nintendo 64,and that was just a nintendo console,i thought at the time that playstation could have been  more capable than that, seeing how good the levels were in "Metal gear Solid " and many other successful titles. But despite those kind of flaws,i'm still grateful for the simple gameplay, and doesn't feel dull like the other world wrestling federation games in the past ,that had ridiculously awkward ,and complicated controls.

The Options menu :

The options menu plays a big part in the game ,keeping it how you want the rules to go in the game.If you want to change the difficulty settings to hard because you find the matches way too easy (And it is) then you can change that. You can also change the match rules ,weither you desire no  from the superstars ,or you want your arena to always be raw is war , smackdown,or a certain pay-per-view arena without having to change it at the versus screen, you can do that too. Also you can change the rules of no submissions,or even no ring out ,any of the rules you change in the options menu, you will no longer have to fix it at the versus screen which gets tiring.I always turn entrances off, interference off, and leave it at the raw is war arena ,as you change the options in the options menu ,you save the data and you will never have to do it again. If you dont, youll always have to fix them in versus screen. It's your choice how you want the game to be ,with the rules that you're used to.

To top it off on my review of Wwf smackdown 2:Know Your Role.

The game delivers a lot of arcade style fun,and there is always replay value for those oldschool gamers who know about this game, that has owned it in the past to be able to choose from all your top favorites of the attitude era of the world wrestling federation .It's a pretty good game ,and it's the best wwf wrestling game for the sony playstation one besides wwf smackdown one for the playstation.I dont think there is any other wrestling game for the playstation with a huge variety of matches like smackdown 2 has ,and that is why i consider this to be the best wrestling game for the playstation .For wrestling gamers that enjoy this game ,i also recomend  "Simple 1500 Series Vol.52 - The Pro Wrestling 2" that is very similar like the smackdown games ,but with japanese wrestlers, not a huge roster like the wwf smackdown games, but still as fun with the same controls. To top it off,and end this review ,i'll say that wwf Smackdown 2 know your role,is always fun to revisit, despite the flaws of this game , i would have prefered at the time that the makers of smackdown 2 spent more time making this game before it was  released  ,but it's still a good game,i just let it pass.It is also on my list of playstation ones greatest hits and best wrestling games for the fans of oldschool retro gaming.Overall:8.5
