I actually can't stand 1st person view in racing games. I find the view just seems limited to me. Whenever the option is there, I switch it to 3rd person, if not, I wont play the game.

Same goes for non-racing games as well. I just prefer 3rd person, because it feels like I can see more and I'm not limited to seeing what's directly in front of me.

I enjoy racing games much more when they are in 3rd person view. I dunno why, it just seems more fun to me. Examples of this are Mario Kart and the Forza series. Good times...

Honestly, 3D shooters are the only times I prefer First person camera views because it allows for more accurate aiming. Otherwise, I don't care WHAT genre it is, I want to see as much of my surroundings as possible, and that means a third person camera. Immersion is great and all, camera-wise, but I find having a better idea of what's going on (visually) is more important.

I tend to prefer different things depending on the type of game. On the one hand 3rd person mode gives a lot better overview of a games enviroment which can help when navigating or playing games where being aware of your enviroment is key. On the other hand I like 1st person mode like in skyrim because it can help immerse you more into the world in my opinion not to mention it's a lot better for aiming in games like shooters.

Generally if I have the option to pick I'll probably go for 3rd person but there are games such as Skyrim or first person shooters like Counter Strike where I definietly like having 1st person mode :V

In the early days of Playstation/N64 I was still "old school" and wanted to always play games in a 3rd person type viewpoint.

Over the years though, I've gone 180. Now I prefer to play modern games in a first person type mode. Although it does kinda depend on the game.

I know in the early days of Gran Turismo I would like to play in 3rd person so I could see my car placement better on the corners but that was just with that particular game.

orionfoxgibson : Depending on the game, I'm sure I would enjoy it just fine. Not really sure where you are going with that statement.

I was just saying that I used to prefer to play most games in 3rd person like 20 years ago but these days I prefer 1st person for the most part.

Jordanv78 :
I thought it was Strait Forward.
I am considering Making Saints Row Style Game but with Dungeons and Dragons Settings and Themes.
Monty Python Gags and New Spins on Gangs/Or Guilds that would be around.
(Mages Vs Thieves Vs Barbarians VS Clerics and Such.)
(Mount Horses, Mechanical Monstrosities, Ogres, Ghosts, Flying Carpets, and other Beasts or things that sound Funny)
(3D and I'll Rule the Day. But Why Not?)
Why not go Game Dev?
I'm Tired of waiting for games that I want to play.
If it takes 10 years for a sequel these days? I would rather Build or Heavily MODD my own creation and be done with it. Too many Assets and Concepts being Wasted these days.
I already have a Story Loosely In mind. For the Plot to make sense.
(I might need a Writer anyway. But Meh)
(I have a Richard III idea for the King. That explains the Gangs or Guilds Behavior of wanting to take over a bit and other matters.)
I put this question of Camera Perspective out for kicks.
See you later Dude.
Good Luck To All.
Peace.
