Way back then, most of the time my parents would take video games away from me as punishment. As I started to get older and more mature, that punishment didn't really work anymore, so they would take driving privileges away. My parents always had some kind of punishment for whenever I did something wrong or stupid. I didn't know any better in middle or my early years in high school.

One time, my dad tried to punish me for something ( my mom did most of the punishing ). We got into a huge argument, and it ended with me and him on the ground wrestling. We were in my room right next to the hallway, and my mom walked by and saw us and said "What in the world are you doing?!" It was funny the way she said it, and actually...thinking back on it now, I'm laughing myself.

Usually my parents just take away my electronics for a certain amount of time. The worst punishment I've got was that I had my ipod taken away for over 6 months. I'm not saying why, though

Well I still get punished now, and usually one of three things happen. Either I am forces to go outside for the whole day which is almost every day, no computer, or no ps3.

Moral lessons.....Sometimes I'd rather just prefer getting smacked in the face. Moral lessons and having no privacy are horrible punishments for kids....Learned that in Psych

The worst punishment I think I've ever had was getting grounded from the N64 for a week. That was it. My parents are awesome parents. They still take care of me and teach me right from wrong but still have a sense of humor (Except for my dad :)

Singelli :

Wow, I'm a pretty hard guy, but even I found that a bit much!

Ah well.

My parents commonly punished us by spanking, but video games being taken away was another one, or the computer. (We didn't want our parents to know which we enjoyed more, there were times when we could care less for one or the other, so we were just fine with such punishment. But only if they grounded us from what was NOT our current entertainment interest.)

We played video games every friday night. All 7 of us. We each got one precious half an hour. Our parents did not want us getting sucked in like so many other children, but man, I remember so many problems with just that!

We got to play so rarely, that it was a real treat, and something we didn't take lightly. We totally enjoyed it. Probably a lot more than most kids our age, which was almost a problem in itself. Mario was something like an idol, in fact, I don't think a day went by I wasn't constantly thinking about him or roleplaying him. (I didn't know what roleplay was at that time, I was just doing what normal children did as far as I was concerned.)

Mario

Mario

Mario

It was all that was important to me.

And religion.

Man, I didn't like people down talking the Bible, Even though I was young, I had to pick a fight with one kid at a daycare because we were playing Josh and the Big Wall. He wouldn't let Joshua knock down the walls of Jericho, and he insisted on launching missals at the Israelites. I obliged with my arms. We got in a fight, which had to be broken up.

LOL.

Good memories.

Video games were such a big part of my childhood for how little time I spent playing them. It's almost sad, but, it made me an incredibly creative person, which I'm proud of to this very day. If I had all the entertainment I had wanted when I was young, I wouldn't have built the mind that I have today, which always seeks to create.

It's all thanks to my parents, and how they raised me. They cared a lot about how I was raised, what with homeschooling and such. It makes me a different individual from others and I'm very happy for it. It was worth any unfairness, misery or whatever some silly people would call it.

Spare the rod, and spoil the child. Be hard on your children, for their sakes. And be hard on yourself. It's like gold being refined in the fire.

Aren't children 100 times more valuable than gold?

Well that's a loaded question. I'd have to say most of my punishments depended on the severity of the problem I was being punished for and who was doing the punishment. At the very least I would get a lecture, have to write something over and over again ( usually between 500 - 1000 times ), stand in a corner, lose television or video games or just be grounded for whatever amount of time they deemed appropriate. I've also had my butt spanked with belts, boards, tree branches, wooden spoons, metal grill spatulas, fly swatter ( minus the plastic ), a shoe, a broom, a mop, and many other items. Those were usually for the medium to severe troubles I got into such as : School issues -> skipping, drugs, alcohol, fighting, etc.., also on the few times that I would talk back to them or stand up to them when I thought they were very wrong. I did many things that got me into a lot of trouble and a lot of punishments.
In the end I know they cared because they were always the first ones to defend me if they knew I was in the right. That being said I would have to say the worst punishment I ever got was being kicked out of the house when I was 15 years old. The next few years after that made me grow up quite a bit and I mended fences with my mom only after that. I never moved back in but I did go to visit off and on. Oh and another punishment type I got a few times was paying for stuff I broke during fights and also a couple of times of paying hospital bills. Those last two I hated the most because they took money out of my pocket that I worked hard for.

My parents punished me when I was little with things like standing in the corner, spankings, no for a week, things like that.  After about 9 or 10 though, they stopped doing things like that. Instead, they talk to me about the issue, explain why it's an issue, and why I need to stop, or not do it again. on sever occasions,  I've had things like my computer time limited or taken away.

Really, (I'm not saying I'm better than anyone else, I just have awesome parents) my parents have always taught me and shown me reasoning as to why such and such was a bad thing, typically before it happened or I did it, so I usually have stayed out of trouble for the most part. I trust my parents, and know that when they say I shouldn't do something, they have a reason and I listen.

My parents don't punish me .

I rarely ever get into trouble, but when I do they usually just get disappointed and talk to me, which I think is the right way to tell kids what's right and what's wrong.

If I ever did do something reaaally mischievous, I'm guessing the worst they would do is tell me to read a book for an hour instead of using the laptop, which they know I don't like (although, recently, I've found a book that I'd actually give up on my laptop for for an hour because it's so good).

We weren't really bad, just sometime when we were really young (I have a younger brother) we'd refuse to clean our room. Mom is the asking and reprimand type, probably cause whatever our 'father' was going to do to us was worse then what was necessary. He use to take his leather belt and spank/whips us with it. Once or twice he got a rubber race track, a book, never got a wooden spoon cause we never had one in the house. After this one time, I think it was one of us refused to pick up some blocks and 'dad' took out his belt. Whipped the one and one of us was watching... new rule we didn't know about apparently. If one of us watched the other get punished they would get punished too.
After that, our 'father' seemed to get busy with work and Mom took over our punishments. Being grounded wasn't always bad, but neither of us like cleaning our rooms lol. But after about turning 9 or 10 I never really go into trouble ever again and I would make sure that my little bro stayed out of trouble as well. He was really young at the time of the harsher punishments so I'm not sure if he even remembers them. He was probably about 5 or so when he got a belting so I'm hoping he doesn't remember that, he's a good kid. Other then that, yeah after about 9 or so, I never really got punished again besides the occasional groundings till about 13. I learned fairly quick who's side you wanted to be on and who you wanted to be punished by.
