So I want to know what all of you all think is the most disappointing game that you have ever played.  Be sure to explain why you think that it was disappointing.  For me, the most disappointing was Resident Evil 5, it ad clunky controls, stupid inventory management, dumb story, and just stupid all around.  It was bad, not worth the $60 I shelled out for it on release.

The most disappointing game I ever spent money on was Final Fantasy XIII. Heard so much about it, and it generated so much hype, so I was really excited when I first started the game. About 30 minutes into it, I was not so excited anymore. I usually like RGPs, particularly ones from the Final Fantasy series, but this one... My main problem with it was the gameplay. The battle system sucked so much, I was literally pushing two buttons back and forth for every battle. And the tiny area maps when I was expecting an open world was such a disappointment. Every new area was basically a straight line from point A to point B, and then repeat. The story was mediocre at best, and the characters more than a little flat. I will say in the game's favor that the graphics were amazing and the music was pretty good too, but it definitely was not worth buying or playing, really. Worst $35 I ever spent.

The most disappointing game that I ever spent money on was Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. I thought it was be as good as the original but it wasn't even close to it. The chapters were awfully short, the battle system changed a lot, the main characters from the original game couldn't level at all, and the characters were just bleh. Worst of all, they removed the traveling when you get out of a town. That was one of the best parts of Tales of Symphonia and it got removed from the sequel. I can't believe that I wasted $50 for the game too!

kivdabe : I also greatly disliked this game right from the beginning. The tunnel-maps were so boring. I think I played about 2 hours and gleefully turned it off, never to play again.

For me hmm there are examples of over hype - like Square's The Bouncer for PS2, but I didn't buy that. Let me think, what did i buy, so I have the financial loss to stew over also, that was a big disappointment. I recently bought the new Borderlands Pre-Sequel, and its fairly unfun and pointless. I regret purchasing that, but there is one more that will always bring me bad memories.

For me emotionally, it was probably Mass Effect 3 - I got pretty invested in that series. There are parts I love of the game, and at least half of it I hate. And while I wasn't as volatile as some with my actions towards the ending - it did leave the bitterest taste in my mouth. I would still play a Mass Effect game, but they've only shown me not to expect a complex, cohesive story from them.

For me it would be Mega Man II for Game Boy. I'm a huge Mega Man fan. Some of my favorites are Mega Man 7, V for Game Boy, IV for Game Boy, Mega Man 5, 4 and 3. I also like the X series. I played Mega Man V, IV and III for Game Boy before I played Mega Man II for Game Boy. I was hoping II would be good as III, IV and V. I was disappointed. The sound was terrible, the graphics were not good and the plot to the game was very lame. I gave it the title of one of the worst Mega Man Games out there. Thankfully I'm glad it did not ruin the great franchise of Mega Man.

kivdabe : Yeah I played the game until the part where you are getting Sahz and Vanille from the airship.  Tried so hard just to power through it, but it was really boring and bad.
ghostfishy : I've never played Tales of Symphonia, kinda got turned off from the beginning by the art style.  I like other tales games, my last one being Tales of Xilia (which is amazing by the way!) should I try out Tales of Symphonia?

I dunno, I thought that Tales of Symphonia really, really dragged in the middle.

For me, I really wanted to like Class of Heroes, it had everything I liked, a school setting, dungeon crawling gameplay and lots of customization...instead it was a boring, "hard-to-be-hard" RPG with a school skin. Age of Empires II was also pretty disappointing, though it did help me get into RTS games.

DARKANINE : I love hard to be hard RPG's, I don't own a PSP though, so I can't even try and see if I like it.

A really disappointing game for me would have to be the original dead rising. That game isn't fun to me. I cant get into it. itd boring. I thought it would be great. Turns out i was wrong.

kivdabe : did you get far enough to where you can use magic. The game is ok but it is really boring when you first start the game.

ThatBigGamer : I think I got as far as getting the first summons and a bit after that. That should be after getting magic? I honestly can't remember. If it is, it didn't make much of a difference. I did hear that it got better somewhere around halfway through the game and there are some side quests? I don't really know, as I am unlikely to ever make it that far.

I haven't encountered any games that really, truly disappointed me. However, i guess the closest one is Assassins Creed III. I really didn't feel anything from this game. Sure, the mechanics are nifty but they just feel like yet ANOTHER remake of the fantastic original.

The game that disappointed me the most would have to be pokemon X and Y as they were way too easy and the Mega evolution totally ruined the game but it luckily had to some good points and the designs for the new pokemon are so lazy it's unbelievable.

spenser1151 : It's really not remotely fun, unless you want every random encounter (and they are common) to be 5-10 minutes long and give horribly low EXP and Gold. Oh and their isn't really much strategy either, skills do very little damage or healing and the class system is horrid.

Class of Heroes 2 is pretty fun, though.

For me it would have to be Sanctum 2 PC. I got it from here, bought it,, installed it, and really it has a cool idea, but it wasn't done very well. At this point, it is one of the most disappointing games I own.

Once, I bought Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World for ps2. It was a really great game. I loved every second of it. Except I couldn't get past one certain boss, even on very easy difficulty. And I wasn't that bad at the game, either; the game was just way too difficult for its own good. I broke the L1 button and the vibration function on the controller out if rage and never played it again.

The most disappointing game I've ever played would be portal 1 I know it's a good game but has very little story I love the second one with story but the first one was good but missing the touch of other games it seems creepy with no story but a psycho robot "talking" to you other then that the physics is amazing.

deg2000 : How did mega evolution ruin the game?  I thought it was pretty cool giving you a powered up pokemon at a price of no other item on it and only one at a time.  And I liked most of the new pokemon expect for Kleftkey, that one is just plain weird.

Pac-Man for the Atari 2600 is the most disappointing video game I've ever played. Pac-Man isn't animated well, the ghosts flicker way too much, and it's much easier to lose a life than it is in any other Pac-Man conversion.
