I'd like to see more competitions hosted on this forum.

That said, there's a few guidelines I want to set in place.

1) Try to have the competition with a game in the RGR.

That way it's possible for virtually everyone to compete. Plus, it's much less likely to become a flop. If you know of a popular sports game that's non-RGR, AND you have good reason to believe that it will get some participants, then we'll probably give you permission that as well. A list beforehand of at least a few people you think will compete is not required, but would show you put in some time in beforehand scoping your idea out to see whether it would succeed.

2) Try to keep it short.

It's also likely that your competition will be a flop if it takes over an hour of playing to participate. Especially if the game isn't all that interesting. So it's suggested that you keep the etp (estimated time playing) below 15 minutes. Of course, there will be cases in which the game is interesting enough where this won't apply. It might not apply if the prize is high enough to compensate for the time played.

3) Try to keep the winning prize above 2,500 Viz.

2,500 Viz for winning a competition is pretty low, and we'd like to make that the minimum. If it's not worth the effort, even short competitions will get little activity. Higher Viz prizes generally equate to more participation.

4) Try to make it fun.

I mean, that should be the goal of all competitions, right? To keep it fun for everyone involved. Don't purposely torture people with a mostly unplayable game. But shorter competitions will have more leniency towards this form of torture. The amount of Viz you're providing as a prize also has an effect as you may have guessed.

But speaking of viz, there's a chance that you'll get some funding from us for prizes if you do manage to create an really fun competition. You can use that either to increase the prizes, or to rely less on your own pocket. It's our way of promoting those competitions which we feel are really fun. This is also a reason why we want you to ask for our permission beforehand. You might get an estimate of how much we're willing to fund. Though don't worry if we don't decide to fund the second we read your idea. We might just want to let it get started before we decide whether to fund.

5) Ask for permission before you create the thread!

Chances are that we'll accept. But it's crucial that you ask. If you notice, this was the only point that didn't start with the word "Try". That's because it's mandatory, and your thread will be closed if you don't listen.

So those were 5 things to keep in mind should you want to host a competition in this forum.

If you have any questions feel free to ask below.

That sounds like a good idea, maybe make a thread just for submitting ideas, but also in that same thread let them apply for funding. There has to be some kind of punishment if somebody makes something and breaks rules, maybe doesn't pay the Viz or something.
