Warioware, it’s one of those weird things you will sometimes have trouble admitting you like, because of how strange it is. But, you know what? I’ll say it, I LIKE THIS WEIRD JAPANESE THING! There, now with that out of the way…Warioware Mega Microgame$ is the first Warioware game. In it, we see the legendary origins of the previously mentioned fictional company. What is this game? A few of you may ask. Well, read on, because I got some reviewing to do. (And three seconds to write every segment of the review.) Graphics: 8/10 Graphics…Well, that’s a weird thing about this game. It shifts quite often. Mostly the animation in the games, and in the cutscenes is pretty smooth. But at times it can be pretty bad. I’m being merciful with my rating since it’s the GameBoy Advance here, not a 3DS. It can’t always give the best. Plus the most painful sequence is only four seconds long. It actually looks great most of the time! You can tell they put quite a lot of effort into Jimmy T’s scenes. They were the most flashy. Also, in my favorite section probably, 9-Volt’s games are all Nintendo based. So it jumps from NES, to SNES, and beyond! As the series grows older, the very short emulations get more expansive also. Sound: 7/10 The music itself is actually pretty nice. And so are a few of the voice clips. They all sound pretty good, but for a few it’s really hard to tell what they’re saying. But, really, the music and sound effects are great! Good enough to save this from a bad rating. It’s simple, and straight to the point. Addictiveness: 10/10 There is another danger that the warning label didn’t warn you about. Once you start playing, you won’t be able to stop! *Maniacal laughter, and thundering in the distance* And once you beat all the employee’s games, you’ll still have a need to come back for more! This game will provide you with a weird itchy feeling that can only be quenched by playing this game. Story: 4/10 Well, this doesn’t have too much of a story. But it’s sure packed with side-stories. One day, Wario was watching TV, and on the news he sees that the GameBoy Advance, and it’s games are having tremendous amounts of sales. And, Wario knew that if he made games, he could be raking in the money too. So he stared Warioware, a game development company. But in order to save as much money as possible, they don’t develop full length games, they make extremely short, simple games they call Microgames. Wario isn’t the kind of gut do do all the hard work himself though, he hired a few of his friends in Diamond City to help develop them. (Paying them for their services on the other hand is another issue…) Going through each character’s games is a story of itself. With Dribble and Spitz you’re driving a client to the ocean, with Kat you’re saving her sister Ana from a monster, with Jimmy T you’re leaving him messages on his phone while he dances. And a lot more! But, sad thing is, they're all pretty weak stories. Depth: 5/10 Depth…Well, they advertise it with “Over 200 Games!”. But, well, I think they’re counting the different levels too. When you beat a story and come back to it, it just stretches the length by about four times as long as it normally went. And after beating the boss, the next set of games is slightly, or significantly harder versions of ones you already played. There is a lot of games, but it won’t ever feel that deep when you play it. There isn’t really any hidden content. You unlock everything by just continuing forward. There is a lot to do, until you realize that you've been playing the same set of games through the whole thing. Difficulty: 4/10 On a casual playthrough, it won’t be TOO hard. The only controls to play the games are the D-Pad, A, and B. You won’t have much trouble until you replay the levels you’ve beaten. The final level in the game, on the other hand....It's infuriating after you’ve gotten your 5th game over! Most of the difficulty here lies in that final level, just because of the sudden shift into a need for skill. Some things not covered: Pro: A great portable boredom-buster. Con: No Waluigi Pro: It combines the weirdness of a Japanese commercial, with the minigames of Nintendo’s diabolical genius. Con: Wario didn’t pay me for my playtesting time. And there you have it. It’s a clean cut, simple, and easy to play with a few hints of difficulty for the hardcore gamers out there. But all in all it’s built for casual play. Which isn’t really a bad thing. It’s just different than what I’m used to playing. Overall: 8/10 Graphics: 8/10 Graphics…Well, that’s a weird thing about this game. It shifts quite often. i love this game also, but I believe you may have not made it to Dr. Crygor's stage yet. He has a mandatory prism game that has always crashed the player for me-- making it impossible to proceed. Comments posted about the game show this issue as well. Did you get past it? |

endings : I've beaten the whole game. And, I think I know which game you're talking about. I never had any crashes in the game. Are you playing it on the RGR? I just own it on the WiiU Virtual Console. |
