Ikari warriors 2 is a fun quick game. I remember playing this a lot when I was a kid. My friends and I would play 2 player all the time and of course we would die a lot, but there is a secret continue, just press A, B, B, A after you die and you will continue right where you died. Though my friends and I could never beat the last guy when I was a kid, because when you are at the last boss you only get 3 continues and then you are dead. You normally have unlimited continues but at the last boss you lose that and only have 3 continues. I just now played this game again and I can easily beat it with no continues, so I guess I got better at games. But now for my rankings, you ready, here we go.
Graphics: 2 - The graphics on this game are really bad I think for Nes standards even. The characters look like they bandaged their legs for some reason. The bosses are bland looking and even the last guy looks wrong. The background not that good, The shop is the only good graphics in the game. But remember graphics are not the only reason to play games, the game play is pretty good on this game.
Sound: 5 - Sound is upbeat and makes you wanna venture forth and destroy the enemies. The voices in the game are horrible but in Nes time any voices in the game was awesome, I remember loving hearing the voices in the game when I was little.
Addictiveness: 5 - If you can't beat the game its addictive enough to keep you playing just to beat it, because the game with continues or not will let you get to the end, and if you lose 3 times will take your victory away from you. You will just wanna try one more time, and again, and again.
Story: 2 - The story is blandish. The story tells you in the most annoying and slow typing text that: You just got done beating Ikari warriors 1 and now you need to return home. The random officer is telling you he will give you his plane to fly home (really nice of him to just give me his plane). The weather turns bad and some alien starts talking to you (Man just typing the story it sound really weird) and telling you that you need to kill Zang zip to rescue his land. The last boss fight will wrap the story up a little.
Depth:1 - Ikari warriors 2 is a really short game. You can beat it or lose the game in about 20 to 30 minutes and that's with shopping still, and going in the mini games.
Difficultly:6 - I give it one above average because you may get unlimited continues but you only get 3 at the last guy. And as I said before I never could beat him as a kid. Even with the 3 continues you may not even get to fight back on your continues and most of the time you appear on the boss and die again right away without even hitting him.
Overall: 9 - I scored it high probably because of nostalgia, but I really think this game is really fun with upbeat music. The game play is really challenging and the 3 continues upped the difficultly a lot. Its got a nice mix of challenge and fun. I would recommend trying it once and I bet you will wanna complete it then. Give the game a try.
