Originally the scariest game(s) I've ever played was the "Siren" series, (A really good Japanese psychological survival-horror series.) But today I played P.T. (Playable Teaser for the new Silent Hill.) And it is the first game I have ever stopped playing because of how scary it was. It is the first game I recall making me physically tremble from fear.

Oh, I've been meaning to try out that new teaser! Thanks for reminding :-)

I must say that the scariest game I've ever played is from the same series, and it's Silent Hill 4. I've been freaking terrified of the game-series ever since I was a kid. My fear began with Silent Hill 2 and the killer nurses. I've played SH2 at an older age and I seemed to somehow get past my fear of those darn nurses... but SH4 brought it all back. It took me days to get past the first building since it was of course a hospital. I could've picked Amnesia because I haven't been able to finish it yet, but my fear of SH-nurses even tops that. Luckily I'm not scared of real life nurses, I'm just scared of them in the game in a similar way some people are afraid of clowns.

Zombiegone : For me it was the original "doom" game on pc. I was young, so probably why it was kind of scary. It was my absolute first introduction into the "gore" scene. Just having all of these hideous creatures throwing fireballs at you at an insanely fast rate was kind of freaky at the time. Now it's just as relaxing as a walk in the park. Amazing how quickly it takes to de-sensitive to this kind of stuff.

The game I choose would be Friday the 13th for the NES, I didn't play a horror game until Resident Evil 2 after that! Like most people I was young at the time so looking back at it now I feel kind of silly about being scared of it.

The scariest game I have ever played is obviously Slendytubbies. It's a PC game that's a spin-off of Slender, plays like Slender, and to come to think of it, it IS Slender!

P.T. Made me scream like I never screamed before. I surprisingly stopped playing it because it was too scary, including the hidden objectives you have to do just to complete it.

Hard to say.
While it may not have been the scariest
the one that was certainly the most unsettling was Silent Hill 2.
That game got under my skin like no other game has managed to do.
Still stands to date as my favorite game of all time
and the first game I wrote a review for on here.
It didn't scare me so much as it made me scare myself

PT was pretty freaky though. I look forward to what they do with the new Silent Hill.
I'm a huge fan of the series, and have been increasingly disappointed with what they've done with it since the original team disbanded
Downpour showed a lot of promise, but ultimately let me down.
I had given up on the series, but this trailer has me interested.
Let see how they do with story though...

I don't really get scared of games, but I have had a few games make me jump. One of them is Resident Evil 2, one of the first zombies that were laying on the ground grabbed my character. Another is Manhunt on PS2, a guy came around the corner and starts yelling. Another game is Outlast that is on PC, it's a newer game. Has a lot of jump scares. Fun stuff.

I think it's I HAVE NO MOUTH AND I MUST SCREAM.

It really freaked me out the first time I played.

I mean, games like Half-life 2 are scary. It's just these older ones I find truly nightmarish.

I don't think I have ever thought a game was "scary." Whenever I played a game that was very dimly lit, or involved some kind of monsters or zombies, I thought it looked cool. I mean, you are playing a game. Its not like its real life. You're not even watching a movie. At least movies involve real people.

However, there is one game that gave me nightmares when I was a little kid. It was a NES game called "Friday the 13th" and of course it featured Jason. Don't get me wrong, it was a very fun game to play. But when I went to sleep one night after playing it, I had nightmares about Jason and the game. I haven't played it in a while but if I remember right, it had some eerie music to go along with it. Its the only game I can think of that was like that.

I have only played one game that has genuinely scared me. That game is Nancy Drew: Message In A Haunted Mansion (PC). There are spooks around every corner, terrifying music, all sorts of stuff that gave me nightmares when i was younger. It's the only game that still scares me to this day.

I would have to say Silent Hill 3 I think it was more my age though that played the main factor in me believing it was so scary, but even today it is still quite scary for me, the characters re just so gruesome in that game, and the music and macabre atmosphere does not help the situation at all. Also the character developement is very good in the game, in my opinion so you can really relate to Heather, and not wanting her to get hurt. Also grotesque looking things randomly popping up and scaring you, does not help the situation at all.

I came here just to say Siren as well. I played the demo on my PS2 thinking I would get the full game but then I was like "f**k this".

I never touched that game again it was one of the last horror games I played aside from "Silent Hill" I tend to avoid horror games all in all nowadays.

I didn't think anyone else played Siren.

EideticMemory :
I have no mouth and I must scream was a very interesting game.
I still love the part where you were carrying an actual person in your inventory, lol.
Tell me, have you read the story? It wasn't exactly scary, but it did have a very oppressive and dark tone to it.
A bit depressing, but a great read.
If you had the right mind set, it messed with your head in a way few short stories have touched.

Silent Hill: The Room, I know this because out of all the horror games this is the only one where I physically could not move past the first horrific moment, the part with the first Scream almost made me drop the game completely, but when the zombie came out the wall I was done. The psychological nature of the game basically did not work well with my overactive imagination.

I mean I've played Dead Space 1 through 3, Resident Evil, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and a whole lot of games that you could put in the horror category, but I have never seen anything else as mentally and physically taxing as Silent Hill: The Room. I suppose it comes from the unnatural element, that very few games manage to capture. There wasn't as much gore as seen in Dead Space, there wasn't the sense of 'I can do this if I try enough times' you get in Dark Souls, there was just this fear brought on by the fact that you knew there was something out there, and
you had to go there, but since it was a game you didn't have to go through it, so I didn't, and I put something fluffy and cute on instead.

P.T. comes pretty darn close, but as that game is not even finished yet, I'm not counting it. Clock Tower and Silent Hill 2 are the first games that come to mind. There's also Slender, which had literally (meaning it actually happened) had me peeing my pants once out of pure suspense, oh and of course Amnesia: the Dark Descent.

Well, seeing as how I have never actually played Five Night's At Freddie's, I would have to say the scariest game I have ever played would be Doom 3.

I wouldn't called these "scary", but they are startling. I've played Slender before, and I remember feeling really uneasy the whole time. It's probably the most frightening game I've played so far, since I don't usually play scary games . I also played both Five Nights at Freddy's demos, which both had my heart rate up and reaaally strong desire to press Esc had it not been for my best friend who was forcing me to play the whole time .

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
