I remember playing the series when I was younger, but had forgotten the majority of what happened in the games, and I also forgot what the series was even called. It was a shame, really, because I really enjoyed the series and I used to take turns with my friends while we played it at my house. We would take turns everytime someone died, and really just had a whole lot of fun. Not that I remember everything vividly, as it was quite a while ago that this happened. [Recently], however, I stumbled upon the Jak & Daxter Collection, and I was able to relive my old adventures in glorious HD. The games are still really enjoyable. Maybe not as much as they were when I was little, but I still have some zany fun jumping around and fighting enemies. I am still loving the series, and while it may have been re-released in HD, there has not been a game in the series that has been released as of late, and I would consider it dead. I hope that it is revitalized in the future, but I will not get my hopes up too much. Anyways, do you have any thoughts on the series? Any loves about any individual game? Hates? Have another favorite dead gaming series?

My thoughts? I loved the first game. 3D Platforming with almost no story line at its finest. I just don't like the second and third, as it leans more toward action/adventure and away from platforming, and becomes too mature for what the first game was.

I have the collection too, and it's awesome, because it does not change the formula of the game, just slaps HD on (which would be expected) and changes PS2 to PS3, after adding some trophies that I fell enhance the games, gives you some more things to do.

I actually own the original Jak and Daxter for the PS2. I bought it off of a Fleet Market, I think, and it's pretty fun! I don't recall too much of the sequels besides the plot kinda went a bit everywhere from the original, but if anything could be revived, I wouldn't mind seeing it come back again, but I would base it off of the first one.

I've only played the precursor legacy but from what I played, I really enjoyed it. Good old fashioned platforming goodness.

I've played the original Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy a countless number of times, and I have also played Daxter on PSP (if that counts). Jak & Daxter TPL was one of the very first video games I ever played. I practically grew up with it. It's not your traditional platformer. The reason I loved the game (other than the great atmosphere of the levels) was because it was so unique. The Eco was a lovely feature, and I really liked how you get get the power cells of each level in any order. Other than Jak & Daxter and Banjo-Kazooie, I played Mario games a lot. Mario games have "episodes," where you are supposed to get a certain star. Jak & Daxter levels are just free exploring levels where you can get any power cell you can find.

For awhile now I have really been wanting to get Jak 2. Is it as good?

TheFadedWarrior : I would say so, but it is definitely a bit different than the original. They've added a more "modern" feel to the game, and weapons have been added. If you have a PS3, I would say get the entire collection on one disc, but if you can only get it on PS2, it's definitely worth a shot. Despite the new additions, there is still a decent bit of platforming action, and that relatively open-world aspect of the games.

I love these games i was disappointed in the second and third compared to the first which was amazing but that doesnt change that this game is a classic like Zelda and its my PSN icon haha this game is now very easily obtained because of the new 3 packs for ps2 for only like 20 bucks but the ps2 ones are still rare thus more expensive. I just wish they didnt go all crazy with the guns and stayed with the first ones style and brought the characters in a little more i felt like i was just walking through stages not learning anything about the characters but its still a good game : ) The first is an easy platinum trophy on ps3.

TheFadedWarrior : The first Jak was the best but Jak 2 and 3 were still instant classics in my eyes. Although Jak 2 went a little overboard trying to be dark and gloomy the levels are just as great if not better plus the made it where the guns are actually pretty fun for the most part plus if you don't wanna use guns you don't have to 90% of the time and as long as you don't mind a little more juvenile humor here and there then you need to play it
