For now, just use this guide. I hope I'll be able to master some of the glitches & tricks, and a speedrun guide would also be useful.




Hello, and today I will guide you on how to fly on Super Mario World.
So yeah, let's get started.

Section 1 - Power Up -
-------------------------------
You will need a Power-Up in order to fly. This Power-Up is called a 'Feather'.
This is how it looks like:

The Feather transforms you into 'Cape Mario'.
The first time you can find this Power-Up is in Donut Plains 1 (World 2-1).
It will be the first enemy that you'll come across, if you jump (NOT SPIN-JUMP) on him, he will drop a feather. Get the feather, and voila, you transformed into Cape Mario!

Section 2 - Run -

To Run, you will need to Press and Hold the 'B' button. While holding the button, go left or right. Instead of Walking, you will run!

Section 3 - Fly -
--------------------------
Now, how do you fly? Well I teached you on how to run, and to fly you need to run.
Start running and wait until Mario spreads his arm like this:

Once Mario did that, press the 'jump' button. (B)
Now you are going high in the air! :')

Section 4 - Stay in the air -
------------------------------------
Now, you are in the air, you need to hold right on the d-pad. (If flying right)
Once mario is going fast down, his cape is up like this:

You release right and press left for about a second then release left and press right again.
You keep repeating the steps of Section 4 until you fall on the ground/die/finish the level.

Oh, hey, dumbass (me), you didn't know how to actually go up while flying. Looks like I can't fly, and I will probably rewrite this walkthrough someday.

Thing is, a MUCH easier way to fly is to just tap left. Requires a bit of practice for speedruns, though. *cough* Star World 4 *cough*

Section 5 - Tricks -

When you are flying, you can stomp the ground to kill the enemies on screen.
Another cool thing is that sometimes something happens, you get hit by a enemy while flying, you suddenly spin and you are not flying anymore, you are invincible for a second, and you don't lose your power-up!

Section 6 - Extra ways to fly -

There are actually 2 other ways to fly... Spinning Fly and Flying with Yoshi, but you won't be able to stay in the air like the original flying mechanic.
So yeah, the spinning fly, when you run, instead of pressing B, you press A. You are spinning while flying!
For the Yoshi Fly, you need to have Yoshi. While you are running, press B to fly. While you are flying with Yoshi and you press A to get off Yoshi, you start flying with the original flying mechanic, you can get higher this way, but you will lose Yoshi.

Eh... no I think... Are you sure you saw it normally? Maybe it's a temporal glitch.

Everything's understandable and written well. I'm not sure if I knew that you could spin while flying, so I might try that out some time.
One thing, I might add though, is that you could've shown a picture of the feather, since you also have other pictures in there. I think that would be one thing that's missing.

Thanks, I have added a picture of the feather but I couldn't find a small version, so I'm gonna have to make one myself, but for now I'll stick with the big feather.
I knew about the Spin fly thing because I use the Spin-Jump more then the normal jump
