Not sure if this has been covered or not but it doesn't seem like it anyways.

I have given the RGR room a thorough scanning (that's with my eyes) and there doesn't seem to be an option to export or import save files. Now I'm going to suggest 3 things so I don't end up looking stupid, here we go.

1. Either the option is there and I'm not looking hard enough, if so then make it more visible to the naked eye.

2. It's not there and should be implemented to the site as it may prove useful (I'll explain in a minute).

3. Vizzed has had problems with importing and exporting save files before and I'm missing some important information that might explain why (as I'm new here).

As you can see, exporting and importing save files may prove useful. Say I'm going on holiday and I have an emulator app on my phone but I'm already halfway through a game on Vizzed and I would very much like to FINISH HIM!!!... uh I mean finish it on holiday, I could maybe export the save file from vizzed and import it to the emulator on my phone (which has an import saves option quite surprisingly). Or maybe I'm getting sick of using emulators on my computer as they may carry viruses or make the desktop look like a mine field and start using Vizzed as it is more efficient in more ways. But I have save files that I may want to carry over, maybe I could import them to vizzed.

But the real question is: can it be done? If so, that'd be great and may help a lot of people out.

I hope I didn't sound ignorant in this post and if I am wrong then I need a good educating.

You can sort of do this manually.

Your save files are located on your computer. To access them on Windows 7...

Start > All programs > Vizzed Retro Game Room > Open plugin data folder > User-xxxxx (your user ID)

Everything from here is dependent on what system you're looking for. For the GBA...

User-xxxx > VBA > Saves

What you're looking for should be files with the .sav at the end of the name. Those are regular in-game save files. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) The ones with the .sgm at the end are the save states that Vizzed uses, so I'm not sure they're compatible with other emulators.

Anyways, you're going to have to copy those saves and manually transfer them to the other emulator's save file. Just make sure you have the appropriate ROM for the game and the saves should work. I wouldn't know if this would work on a phone emulator, though.

Now the reason why Vizzed can't have this export/import feature on the site itself is because of strain. Having this would mean that every in-game saves and save states from every user on this site would have to be uploaded through the Vizzed server to work. That's a lot of space. It's going to cause too much pressure and make the whole site laggy.

Wouldn't it cost more to pay for David if this comes true?

TheJmsGamer :

Yeah. Bigger and better servers are always the more expensive ones. Believe it or not, Vizzed is actually low budgeted. Very reliant on ads and donations. Heck, if there were loads of money for Vizzed to use, then maybe this could happen.

Anyways, I'm going to close this. If anyone has any questions or concerns regarding this, you can always PM the RGR Staff or Local Moderators inbox.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
