Well the review part was good but I am sort of speechless about the other part.....

You cannot just continue a review and have it go on and on like that. It makes it seem like you are doing it for word count and that stuff is not tolerated especially in TDV months.

sixstringmo : Here's a few things that I noticed while reading your review:

1. The whole red vs blue and pokemon song in the middle of your review seems like word padding for the TDV...so I would advise against doing that in the future.

You had a few comments in your review that pretty much made me not want to read the rest of it or just that you should do more research. I don't mean to offend, but I will let you know my opinion based on what I read.

1. RPG's were unheard of on the Genesis?? I would counter that a lot of hardcore RPG fans love games on the Genesis. Ever played the Shining Force Series? Phantasy Star? Even aside from those offerings, there were a TON of great RPG's on the Genesis.

2. "They were however, very similar in design. Unlike in our modern gaming age where each console manufacturer tries to be different to bring in sales, in the early 90's the manufacturers competed only on price and performance."

How are the Genesis and SNES similar in design? Whether you are talking about hardware, software, or just aesthetic design, they couldn't be any more different. Really the only thing they have in common is that they were labeled as "16bit"

Back in the "old days" ALL consoles were trying to make their own spot in the market to be noticed. With no internet back then they way these companies usually accomplished this was by making something that looked crazy, or some other marketing gimmick.

How do Console Manufactures today "Stand Apart" from each other in comparison? (Aside from Nintendo) They are all black boxes with almost identical looking controllers and basically aside from a scant few exclusives on each system these days have THE EXACT SAME GAMES.

A lot of what people forget these days is that by the Time the SNES was released, the Genesis/Mega Drive was already 2 years old. So of course the SNES would have better specs under the hood.

Although I personally love both systems, there should be no doubt in anyone's mind that the SNES was the superior console just on hardware alone, but we all know how fast hardware advances/ages.

The way that Sega Made everyones' eyes pop early in the lifespan of the Genesis was porting popular arcade games to the console while people were still playing 8bit back when no one was expecting near arcade quality on a home console and playing the games the NES (and to a lesser extent the Master system) had to offer.
