Probably when I made my 2nd character on Skyrim after I bought the DLC a few months ago. I decided to jump right into grabbing all of the Deadric Artifacts ( did I spell that right ? ) . Well, I went and the one where you have to get the weapon or whatever back from the Giant for the Ogre. Well, little ole' Level 9 me got one hit killed with my crap armor so much that by the time I finally killed the giant, I was a Level 13. And then, I had to fight the Ogre, so that took even more time. By the time I killed him, I was a Level 15. 
That was so cheap, I remember I was Party Chatting one of my friends, and I was half - way raging for about 2 or 3 hours in his ears. It was actually pretty funny, looking back on it. 

Any death in mega man 1 from spikes or those damned helicopter platforms or ice man/elec man. Otherwise it's completely your fault if you died in that game .

The cheapest most recent death I could think of that I had was in Pokemon SoulSilver for the DS.

Basically I was battling against lance and he only had one pokemon left then my mum accidentally bumped into me causing me to drop the DS and the game froze meaning I had to go back to before I entered victory road because I was dumb and hadn't saved before battling him.

To make matters worse the game stopped working a week after that :c

This is kind of a hard question, because I play RPGs (turn-based) so it is rare to have a cheap death, but there was one time when I was playing Pokemon with a friend and we were trying to do a Wedlocke challenge (something I've never done before) and not ten minutes into the game I failed the challenge... death by Pidgey.
Another time I had difficulty with a game, it was (shockingly) Lunar: Silver Start Story. Funnily enough, this later became the first game I ever beat. I actually got stuck trying to beat the second boss of the game. No matter how much I leveled up or strategized, I could not beat this stupid giant sewer snake-dragon thing! It frustrated me that when I let my friend borrow it (different friend), she was easily able to beat the game in a weekend. I'm glad I tried to beat it after she gave it back because it quickly became one of my all-time favorite old-style RPGs (the second being Golden Sun)! 

fightorace : Yu yu hakashio dark turnamite  for the ps2. on one mission in the story you start with half health and you can not use your special moves. But the catch is that the guy you are fighting kills you in one combo. once he starts his combo you can not get away. The computer spams that combo so it is hard to say the least.

One of the cheapest deaths I'd ever had in a game...

I was playing Uncharted 2. At a point late in the game, you are on a mountain in the Himalayas. It's snowy, and you get put into a gun fight that is ridiculously hard on high difficulties.

Now, I had accidentally wandered out of cover and got seen on said higher difficulty, and so everyone converged on me, and I was in for a hell of a fight.

After BARELY escaping with my life from an army of like 7 guys all shooting at me as I deked for cover, I manage to kill the 7 guys chasing me.

I sit there for a minute, and no one else comes after me. So I naturally assume it's safe to move from cover. I crawl around for a while to make sure there's no one I missed, using cover and keeping my blind spot safe.

I get to the cliff you are supposed to climb to advance to the next area, and hadn't seen an enemy in 5-10 minutes at this point. I climb up the cliff, but get the auto-death scene you get if you didn't kill one of the enemies. (If you leave even one alive, Nate is shot dead as he climbs up)

I had to do that entire fight 3 or 4 more times, before I found out the first 3 times I killed the exact same amount of people as I did on the other try. So either the last guy never spawned on the other 3 runs or I got hit by a glitch on climbing the cliff.

It was the cheapest thing ever, because I did win, but I didn't.

The cheepest death ive ever encountered is in GTA SA.
In los santos there is a spot where you can sky dive, so I did. But as it turns out, the parachute didn't pick up right, so it didn't open or equip. I just feel and died. It wasn't very nice of the game to do that to me and it made me mad Not rage quit tho.

I was playing a Castlevania game (I forget which one) and I died because of a glitch where I got trapped in a wall.

Pikmin 2, I was fighting a swooping snitch bug and he got 2 yellow pikmin as soon as i plucked them a wollywog came in ang killed them all when i wasn't looking.

I've had a ton of cheap deaths before, but the cheapest of them all would have to be when I was playing Brawl with my cousins. It was on my birthday, and like every family reunion, my cousins and I play Brawl, Melee, or Project M. It was between-- let's call him Okimattai-- (since that's his online name) and myself. We were the last ones on the stage, Corneria. I was playing as Peach, with 20% damage, and he was playing as Ness with over 200% damage. We both had one live stock left, so the game was getting pretty intense. Anyways, I somehow ended up getting cornered to the very edge of the stage. Since I'm so used to dodging by moving backwards, I realized what I did and before I knew it, got hit by Ness's bat. Which sadly, ended the game. I was so shamed of myself, considering that I'm the best at Brawl and Project M in my entire family. But after that match, I realized that there will always be people greater and lesser at things than you.

Well tough question. When we say cheap death in video games, I've been playing a lot of Kaizo Mario and Battletoads so I've had a lot of cheap deaths in those.

But lets go to something not as hard, something where you fight dragons and stuff. Yep I've have a cheap death in skyrim. 

I was fighting a dragon and had just barely killed it, I was low leveled and had about 15 hp left, when out of no where a freaking wolf came up from behind me and hit me for my last points of hp. I don't normally get mad at video games but I got so mad I though my controller across the room.

That's my cheap death story.

Probably Skyrim the time I played it through again just to get the Oblivion Walker Achievement. I went to do the quest for the orc, and I got killed by the giant about 20 times. Well, one of those deaths I got hit like an uppercut by the giant's club, and it sent be flying. On the way up, I hit a few branches. I first lost an arm, then a leg, then the other arm, and then my head. Then, I fell for a goood 30 seconds, and upon landing, I lie to you not, my other leg just fell off. XD 

Happily playing Pokemon, get in to a tough battle, almost win, then all of a sudden BOOM the enemy gets a critical hit on me, making me lose. then i hardcore rage at the game.

any death in sparticus legend XD a lot of the user's there are very over powered with limited edition items no one can get anymore i'm level 43 out of 50 and its still hard

Cheapest death I've had was probably in the DS port of Final Fantasy 3. So, I was at a certain point in the game where I had just reacquired the ability to use my airship, so I was in the middle of flying around, when I came across some weird pillars that my airship couldn't fly past. So, I got out of my airship, and tried to pass through. The barrier disappeared. I walked right through another barrier, but when I came to the third barrier, a cutscene happened and my entire party died instantly. Game over. So what did I do wrong? Well, it turns out that was actually the path to the endgame areas, and you're not supposed to go there until you have every elemental shard. Nobody in the entire game had even mentioned a series of pillars that required elemental shards to pass, much less the fact that they would kill you if you didn't have them. If I didn't have a guide for the game, I'd have been totally stumped. In other words, it was a death that came out of nowhere and forced me to refer to a strategy guide to find out why it was happening.

My cheapest death has to be in Mother 3, facing the Mecha Drago. In order to kill him you have to press a after you've gotten rid of all his health and if you don't, he one hit kills you, so I faced him multiple times not knowing that i  had to press a. I farmed for around three hours to try to kill him yet all I had to do was simply press a.

Maybe not the cheapest, but game mechanic wise, I hate you.  I was kicking someones ass online in Pokemon; I still had 5 Pokemon, 4 at full health and my opponent had an Alakazam left that was all.  I went for a Crunch with my Houndoom and missed, got pwnd by focus blast.  Sent out Vaporeon and used Surf, missed, got critical pwnd by thunderbolt.  Sent out focus phanpy, Alakazam used psychic, missed, phanpy used endevour, Alakazam still had 20 some HP, next turn quick attack did like 1 HP damage, phanpy taken out by psychic, sent out Heracross, Alakazam used recover, heracross used mega horn, missed, Alakazam used psychic, Heracross used Mega horn, Alakazam saved by tenga berry, Alakazam used Psychic, pwnd Herracross, sent out Wobbuffet, Alakazam used recover I used mirror coat, nothin, alakazam used thunderbolt, I used miror coat, Alakazam used recover, I used Mirror coat, Alakazam used thunderbolt, critical hit, 2hKO'd wobbufet... defeat.

I did not play Pokemon at all for more than 2 months.
