Overall, it's hard, there are ups and downs for both, but I'd go with Family Guy.

But Family Guy when the characters were treated more as "characters", so like the first 3 seasons, before it came back. Seasons 4 and 5 had some funny episodes but everyone became kinda flattened out. That and more laughs came out of not-so-current references in the earlier episodes that made them instant classics, like in the episode in season 3 when Peter finds out he had a black slave ancestor owned by Lois's family, gets reparations from Carter and turns the living room into Pee-wee's Playhouse...and for classic, the closer of that episode, Quagmire's "Dear diary, jackpot"

Yeah, the last couple of seasons have just about no replay value (if worth a first watching).

Oh definitely The Simpsons - the older episodes anyway. Family Guy was good up until season 5, when it became a series of random pop-culture references and the characters just totally changed; at least with the Simpsons they waited about 10 seasons to do that!

But the messages, the creativeness, the cleverness and the impact some of the older episodes of the Simpsons have had on me are unrivalled - they're layered so that the jokes I didn't get as a kid I certainly do now. It's potentially the best US comedy of all time. It's that or Frasier for me.

sirloopert : I watch Simpsons since I was 8 or 9. But Family Guy it's also OK for me. I like both, Simpsons by it's humor sense and Family Guy by it's dark humor (if that's the word).

Family Guy is a cheap rip-off of Simpsons and everyone knows it. That's not to say it isn't fun to watch, actualy, now adays family guy is bringing on more laughs than simpsons. i still like simpsons, but that's just how i feel.

I like futurama best of all of em, but simpsons is THE original and still kickin strong so many years later. Family guy is good and while deriving from the simpsons I wouldn't call it a rip off, it is very different in a lot of ways. So glad they are bringing new futurama back.
