No, it is just that a lot of the vocal game players are expressive of their need to have amazing graphics that rival even real life. They are not in the majority--at least, I do not think that they are, nor do I hope that they are--and they should not be treated as the majority. The majority cares more for the "quality" of the game, though that is extremely subjective. It all comes down to people's personal wants from a game, but generally speaking, people seem to value the gameplay over the graphics. 

Now a days a lot of people say graphics make the game I do not agree with this however. This is just how this generation is and it's sad how they prefer a game that looks pretty with crappy gameplay over a game with decent graphics and excellent gameplay. Of course I like great graphics but that will not make me pay $60 plus just to play it. If I did than I would be broke right now.

No. I seriously doubt that anyone cares only about the graphics in a game, as they wouldn't sit down and play the worst game ever all the time just because it had the best graphics ever seen.

Still, despite what anyone wants to say, unless you play nothing but text based games (I love a good text based game, but I play other games as well), graphics do matter to you. Think about it: if you sat down to play an NES game, and everything was distorted beyond recognition, or colored some bizarre color for what they represent, would you be as interested in actually playing it? How about if random body parts flickered in and out on your character? Or enemies or platforms disappeared (visually only) randomly? I could go on, but we all would have our breaking point.


Great graphics are important, and always have been. The reasons for this are simple:
1. Great graphics grab any gamers eye, and if a game trailer or screenshots look bland and plain to you, you're far less likely to try it out than you would have been if the visuals were stunning.
2. Great graphics pull you into the game better.

Note that great graphics doesn't always mean realistic graphics. There were Genesis games with great graphics. It's more of an art thing. But yes, realistic graphics are usually important in a modern game as they have to compete with the competition.

So yeah, good graphics are important, but no, I doubt anyone would literally care about the graphics alone. If the best looking game ever were about sitting down and counting pennies, and that's all you did, it still wouldn't sell.

As you know, I come from a generation of complete idiots. Whenever I hear guys at school having random conversations abt video games, I always hear stuff like "Ohh well that game's **** because it has crap graphics. They obviously never played any game that was released in NES, SNES, or anything like that. And I feel sorry for them.

really i do not think that the average gamer just look for better graphics because if there is a game that is SUPER REALISTIC but the game play is terrible who would play that like i know games that have good graphics but is hated like mortal combat vs dc universe

Many only care about graphics and frame rate,I don't agree with that at all.

I think graphics are good if you can recognize things but if it's 16-bit or  64-bit, both can be great. Just like many people said, games with great graphics are the first thing most gamers see when they take a look at a picture and some have already decided by then that they want the game. I like graphics as much as everybody but I think that good graphics can't make the game good. It needs more great things, like the plot, gameplay and sound. I am playing Robopon right now and although the graphics are weird I can recognize everything and the rest of the game is still very good so I have no problems with it.

 In my opinion, yes and no. I know a lot of people you don't care too much about graphics, and I know a lot of people who think graphics are a main factor of their rating of a game. Me, I don't care too much, but graphics still do come to mind when deciding how I think about the game. Most modern 3D games look fine anyway ( Excluding Payday 2 and Rainbow Six Vegas ), but I digress. Most of the gamers I do know that think about graphics when they are deciding to purchase a game like to use it as an excuse to hate on a game. I mean, I know Call of Duty sucks, but when a Battlefield fanboy comes up to me when I have a conversation about CoD and they start talking all kinds of s***, and then sometimes they mention how terrible CoD graphics are and how Battlefield has superior graphics. Some of these people are my friends and I know them, and a lot of my friends love GTA: San Andreas so I just mention "What about San Andreas?" and they have think for second and either question their logic or start to think up more excuses. Then I see them playing a game with worse graphics then CoD and saying they love that game they're playing. And this isn't just with CoD, it is with a lot of games.

P.S. I don't see how CoD graphics are bad. They are not breathtaking, but they get the job done.

It seems like a lot of younger gamers only care about the graphics. Especially the fanbase for Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Skyrim, etc. Graphics and sound don't really matter in a video game, but it seems like a lot of children today only care about the graphics. Final Fantasy 7 can look like an Atari game, but I'd still like it

Framerate actually is kid of important. I'd rather not play a game that lags thank you very much.
