Basically what the title says made a similar thread to this except it's about Pokemon in the pokemon forums but whatever.

Anyways 2 cartoons I feel are really underrated that I've watched a lot is:

Time squad which is a cartoon about the main characters basically traveling around time and fixing problems that could otherwise alter the present which I thought was a clever premise and it can be educational at times as well as it being funny how they make historic characters look. It has had it's fair share of ups and downs though.

The other cartoon I feel is underrated (and probably my pick for the number 1 underrated cartoon ever) is Sheep in the Big City. Which is basically a show about a sheep named Sheep moving in to the city basically like the title says and all throughout the show a man called General Specific is trying to catch Sheep and use him for his Sheep powered ray gun. It's also full of references to all kinds of things. It's and extremely funny cartoon and is pretty imaginative at times too. I feel like it's one of those cartoons you like watching more when you're older then as a kid (granted it can still be fun when you're a kid though) which I'm guessing is one of the reasons it never had a big audience since it only ran for 2 seasons. It's a must watch IMO if you like cartoons and haven't watched it before.

A cartoon I find a tad overrated would be Spongebob Squarepants and while I do still think it's good I don't think it deserves as much praise as it gets. Another cartoon which I couldn't really get into was Scooby Doo. While I have watched my fair share of it I still think it gets more praise then it deserves as I feel and have felt when I was little that it can be quite boring and repetitive at times.

Also Family Guy (even though it might not really fit in with my other picks but whatever) While I do get an occasional laugh from it the jokes are dragged out for far too long and most of the characters are just plain annoying. Not to mention when they (spoilers) killed of Brian I think the show pretty much jumped the shark. And then they decided to bring back Brian even though they had pretty much almost closed of any way of that happening which pretty much made him dying pointless from the start except for shock value.

I don't know that much about cartoons, so I'll mainly write my thoughts about what you wrote.

I agree on Scooby Doo as overrated. Never really liked it much, nor do I find the dog Scooby that funny as he seems to be supposed to (zat English?), but hey, it's a classic. That's probably the main reason for it being overrated. It's still popular to this day.

Spongebob Squarepants is really good, but he was everywhere. You'd always see new commercials or merchandise and the show's still on TV here for more than, hmm, 5 hours per day. I'm glad that it has become a bit calmer about Spongebob now. And while I still see an episode sometimes, I don't think the new seasons are as good as the older ones. The humor seems to have become less clever, which was one of the great things about Spongebob - it had a few jokes that you wouldn't understand as a kid.

That cartoon called Sheep in the Big City sounds good with a nice concept; never heard of it. Uh, you wrote "[...]is underrated (and probably my pick for the number 1 overrated cartoon ever)". Is that a mistake? ^^

Personally, I love Family Guy and how the jokes are dragged out. Like the scenes when Stewie and Brian talk about something and then just start to talk slow like they're feeling awkward or they're talking in a way that the viewer thinks "Yeah, I got it. Next scene!". Don't know if you know what I mean, but I think that happens regularly... But yeah, the spoiler you mentioned was a bad decision.

For underratted, I pick Gravity Falls and Futurama. Gravity Falls is just one year old and does have a huge following, but I guess being that it's a Disney show, not that many people have high expectations. As for Futurama, just the fact that it was cancelled with one season left proves that it's underrated. The show was amazing and had MANY fans, but just did not really recieve enough suport where it matters.

As for Sheep in the Big City it's basically crammed with jokes that for the most part only older people watching it will understand as well as lots of 4th wall breaks and purposely bad puns it's basically making fun of itself hell there's even a robot called plot device which is just there to advance the plot.

Really the only thing that I think is about it that is bad about it is the fact that young kids might not like it as much as well as the style it's made in doesn't exactly look very pleasing to the eyes (although I do think it sort of fits in with the feel of it).

In the mid-2000s, there were two animated series that focused on reality tv.
One of them was Total Drama (X), which is one of those shows that you would watch when you have a free minute and wouldn't give a crap.
The OTHER cartoon, however, was much, much MUCH different.
That was Drawn Together, a cartoon that aired 3 years prior to when TD aired in Canada and is much of an improvement. The jokes are hilarious, though unlike TD, the jokes are very much for adult audiences. Considering the show aired with a TV-MA rating, I can't really be surprised, but in all honestly, it makes South Park look like Barney and Friends. If you're easily offended, no doubt you're not going to like this, but otherwise, it's a very funny show indeed.

Rocko's Modern Life is phenomenally underrated and misunderstood by the public (when you become a teenager and get too old for Spongebob, you should learn to appreciate how rock-solid and adult-oriented this show actually is for a kids' show), but I sometimes feel that it might be just a little bit overrated by critics and the people who actually saw all 52 episodes (it's by far the coolest Nickelodeon show of all time in my opinion, but can you really give something five stars JUST because it has Rocko in it?).

In fact, yesterday, on the day when someone else won a copy of Rocko's Complete Series DVD set at the prize raffle at school (yes it exists now), I did a joke where I acted like my teachers were going to give me a Butterfinger chocolate bar just because I had a T-shirt with Rocko on the front of it).

However, since I'm constantly arguing in my mind between my own thoughts and the hateful thoughts of Rocko haters (I almost considered taking my Complete Series DVD set out to the dumpster because someone called the show "garbage"), I sometimes cannot decide whether the show is overrated trash or underrated gold. I feel that it is a cross between the two. Still really awesome though. Nearly everything Spongebob did was actually easily outdone by the Rocko series (even the Ugly Barnacle joke), an example of why sometimes you really do need to root for the underdog.

One thing that I definitely need to point out is overrated is Spongebob. At its best, Spongebob was (mildly decent show, incredible YouTube Poop material). Currently, Spongebob just needs to die. Just make the second movie and then cancel the show. PLEASE. Stop. With. Freaking. Spongebob. Squarepants.

xandermartin98 : Out of curiosity, have you seen some of the recent episodes? There are some great gems in there like Treats, Planet of The Jellyfish, and License To Milkshake. Season 8 in general felt like a massive improvement from seasons 5-7. In fact, now SB should be included on the UNDERrated side rather than the OVERrated side.

Most overrated cartoon is spongebob squarepants and the most underrated cartoon is Martin Mystery I really hate spongebob squarepants in is not something kids should be watching . Martin mystery was one of the best cartoons I ever saw be it only lasted like one season.

The circumstances around Spongebob are what make it overrated. 

The fact that it is the last decent cartoon on Nickelodeon from a generation that had an excess amount of good cartoons (Doug, rocket power, ahh real monsters, etc...).

Plus it is living off of the success from the earlier seasons of spongebob which were just as silly but a hell of a lot funnier .

Samurai Jack from the old Toonami was extremely under rated. It really made me mad when they canceled it. 

The most underrated cartoon is South Park, and the most overrated is Dora.

Has anyone even heard of Megas XLR? Damn this series is so underrated. But arguably the most overrated cartoon hands down has to be Spongebob. There is too many bad episodes compared to good post movie.

I think one of the most over rated Cartoons of all times is Courage the Cowardly Dog. I honestly did not like that show, and it just seemed really stupid and pointless to me. 

Two of the most under rated cartoons of all times that are actually rated pretty highly are Tom & Jerry and Loony Toons. Those are classics, and they are extremely humorous. Tom and Jerry didn't even talk at all, and I laughed so hard, I nearly broke a rib every time I watched one of those episodes. 

Most over rated cartoon for me would have to be South Park. It started good, but after the movie it soured horribly and now it's nothing more than a mouthpiece for the creators.

Most under rated would have to be Looney Tunes (classic).  The stories are always a great deal of fun and the characters are even better.

My favorite underrated show is Phineas and Ferb. It's one of those shows that grows better the more yu watch it. And it never fails to make me laugh, which is one of the main things I value in shows.

One of the most overrated shows of modern times is The Legend of Korra (and its predecessor). The creators did so many things right but had serious difficulty resolving plotlines. The endings to season 2 of Avatar, and to seasons 1 and 2 of TLOK felt like cop-outs. I think the creators knew they had a brilliant idea and became drunk on that, losing their focus. It's really sad that those shows haven't lived up to their full potential.

Not a universe - the world of youngsters. I know many young people who hate Looney Tunes because it's too old and will gobble up rotten stuff like SP. 

Maybe it's not so grand to some, but it's a world that surrounds me every day.
