I have 'Plants VS Zombies 2: It's about time' for my phone and I think it's a great game. But most people hate the new game saying things like 'EA is making it a money greedy game' and 'I threw my phone against the wall from frustration' and there's even a petition against the second game going with 93 followers (at least the last time, I looked). So my question is: 

'What's your opinion about the game?'

For me, most parts are great. The only thing that really bothers me is the lack of mini games (the first part had a ton of them) and the premium plants need to be bought with REAL money.

Mecha Leo : Yes it's true, almost every free game has loads of ads or asks for money to play a full version. But in the first version you could get the premium plants with in-game money, so that's why I'm so bothered by it.

Well, I do agree that most of these games get sequels just for the point of bringing in most, but I have never played the game myself. I love the series though, so I am guessing that I might like the 2nd one just as much.

juuldude : The Ds version is the worst of all of them, try it on PC, or even put it on your phone, and it will be much much better. As for the second one, it just doesn't feel like a PvZ game. Too cartoony, too easy, too.... unfinished of a game. I'll just replay the first one a few more times when I want to play a PvZ game.

thelastrequim : The phone version costs money, and I already have it on the DS so I'm happy with that. I don't think the second game is too easy tough, compared the first game it's a lot harder. And the game is unfinished because Popcap and EA are still working on it, so we have to be patient But I agree with you, it's more cartoony, but I also like that kind of style (or maybe it's because the DS zombies look very simple).

juuldude : The DS zombies and plants were definitely a whole lot simpler in design, due to system limitations. One question though, did you download the game, or did you get the cart? The downloaded version doesn't even have multiplayer or the Zen Garden.

I like it. It's nice that it doesn't require any pay, and the extras are just small additions. However, the first one had loads more content and I miss having a straight campaign to play, and earning trophies, and tending to the zen garden. It's good, but the original triumphs over it.

I have not played the second one yet but I hope I can someday. I played the original on DS so I think the 2nd one might be good but one thing I do not like is the new kinds of zombies and places. In my opinion it seems to weird for a game that is meant for you to just pick up and have fun.

taterii : I agree with you. It's great in its own way and all the things that can be bought don't add too much, they only make the game easier.  The first also had more content in many ways, dialogues from Crazy Dave, weird zombie mini games, that kind of stuff. I like the original more as well.

I already told thelastrequim in a comment on his profile but I'll tell it again in this thread: I've downloaded the game, meaning there's no Zen garden or multiplayer available for me so I have the most simple version of the game. I still liked it though.

If you like the first game I can't guarantee you will like this one as well but since you have tried it once you might as well get it. It's free so that's a good thing

I agree with the premium plants. With the original you used coins to buy all sorts of things. In this game you only use them to use power ups (Which I rarely use because it's so easy to forget about them)
One addition I do like is the plant food. It's much more useful for a pinch than the powerups are, PLUS thanks to the zen garden, you can make it so that for one match, every plant that you use from a certain species will automatically use their plant food, which is a really cool idea. I also like how you can go back to a certain level whenever you want, instead of having to wait until you beat it.
Overall, despite how there's fewer mini games and you have to pay for more plants with real money (Which is semi excusable as a Free game), I enjoy it more than the first one.
