My review of Mega Man V one of my favorites

Story: 9
After Mega Man IV for Game Boy being a big hit they needed another hit. So Mega Man V came out with an awesome story line and plot. Here is the story from the intro of the game and manual. Mega Man has successfully defeated Dr. Wily and peace has been restored. Dr. Wily has faded from the minds of citizens. Mega Man and his sister Roll are taking a stroll when suddenly Terra appears. Terra introduces himself as leader of the stardroids. Mega Man is gasp defeated and Terra and his army of stardroids launch an attack on earth. The Stardroids are made up of alien material so weapons do not hurt them.  Why have the stardroids come here? Dr. Light gives Mega Man a new weapon to fight these invaders. Mega Man discovers he can launch a fist full of powerful energy. First of all, I love this plot, we have new robot masters and Capcom finally got away from hinting that Wily is behind this. The story makes the player think that the Stardroids are a new force wanting to take over the world. This was something new because all previous Mega Man games have used a fake bad guy or its been Dr. Wily. This was something different and is what the series needed.

Graphics: 9
Mega Man V had better graphics. In fact if this game is plugged into the Super Game Boy the game is then in color. I think that was remarkable that Capcom would make a game for Game Boy that could have color in it. If players do not have the Super Game Boy the graphics are great for this game considering it is a Game Boy game. Mega Man does not appear to be sluggish and the controls are nice. The springs are nicely done in this game. The only thing that keeps this from being a 10 is there is a part in the game were lagging occurs. However the lagging part is short lived. I was very pleased with the graphics of this game.

Sound and Music: 10
The sound of this game is great. Mega Man V is up there with Mega Man IV sound and music. The Star droids themes are very nicely composed. Pluto, Terra, Uranus, Jupiter, Neptune  and the space theme are very memorable  and flow nicely. The music does not tingle or feel scratchy at all. The sound of Mega Man charging is really nicely done, and him launching his fist that is a plus. When Mega Man launches his fist it sounds like it is really going to knock out enemies. The enemies sounds are nicely done too making the player think their attacks are going to do a lot of damage.

Addictiveness and Depth: 10
This game rocked in so many ways. It is very addictive and I often replay this game. I just like how the story was done, the graphics and the awesome music. Mega Man V is a lot like Mega Man IV both have a lot of depth to them. They are several items to collect and in the second half of the game more items to collect. This game also has a lot of surprises in it so be prepared it will take a while to beat this game. I also think of the cool new bosses and how long the game is adds replay value. There is only one other Mega Man game I play more than this one is Mega Man 7. I also think it is nice how you can plug the game into a Super Game Boy and get the game in color.

Difficulty: 8
If there is anything wrong with Mega Man V at all it is the difficulty has been toned down just a little. Mega Man IV was known to be difficult. Mega Man V did not get difficult for me into the second half of the game. The first half of the game had its tricky spots but nothing to bad. The second half is what makes me rate the difficulty as an 8. In the second half the enemies get tougher, the stardroids get a lot tougher and there are more traps galore. Sometimes in the second half enemies just like to gang up on you and knock you into the pit. One stage even tries to push you into death spikes. The very end of the game is very difficult. One of the hardest robot masters in the entire series is at the end. The final boss of this game earns a 10 just fighting him. But I cannot give the game a 10 just because of the final boss. I had to consider all the other stages. So since the game did not get very difficult into the second half that is why I give it an 8. But, this game is not easy just not very difficult as Mega Man IV.

Overall: 10
Mega Man V really rocked as in quality and greatness for a Game Boy game. It is my second favorite Mega Man game only behind Mega Man 7. I often play this one the most only behind Mega Man 7. This game had good graphics, great music and was challenging in  a fun way. After the fake bad guys being used and Dr. Wily being involved. Mega Man needed something different. Capcom pulled off a masterpiece here by having new Robot Masters called the Stardroids challenge Mega Man. Not to mention in the intro stage we get to see Mega Man get defeated for one. Like when has that ever happened? We also have a great game with graphics that can be colorized, awesome music. I highly recommend this game. I got this game a few years back and have not put it down since. If you want to play the Game Boy Mega Man Series I recommend playing III, IV, and V. This is the last and greatest 8 bit Mega Man game.

tornadocam : Congrats on getting in the featured review!  Though I do have to note some things that are my opinion:

- I honestly thought that the story of this game was mediocre, as the story is really an "aliens attack" story.
-
Spoiler:
Wily is really behind everything, so the "wily is not really behind it" isn't really true.  Because of this, the "fake villain thing" was done here too

These are just minor nitpicks of mine, so don't mind them.  I envy you for getting selected as the featured review.  Keep up the good work!

Nice review!  I love Mega Man, even though it can be very difficult at times, and perhaps because of it.  I used to hate Mega Man for that reason.  But times have changed, and now some of the hardest games are among my favorites.
