A review of Ratchet & Clank 2: Going Commando

This game, created by Insomniac Games, is the sequel to Ratchet & Clank. The R&C series were supposed to be a trilogy, though the sequel doesn't have too much to do with the original.

Ratchet & Clank games are a good series of games, and it is of several genres.
Shooter: There are hordes of enemies, sometimes requiring some heavy artillery in addition to your always useful OmniWrench.
Strategy: Though there isn't too much of it, you often have to stop and think of what you're doing. There are also different puzzles, some harder than others.
Platform: A huge part of R&C2 involves jumping, swinging, grabbing, climbing, pushing, falling, and so on... There are always room for some acrobatics.

The story of the game:
After finishing off the evil Chairman Drek in Ratchet & Clank 1, Ratchet and Clank are interviewed by "Behind the Hero", a TV channel about the fall of Captain Qwark, once super hero, now super zero. Qwark was just as evil as Chairman Drek, and tried to kill Ratchet and Clank. In the middle of the interview, they are both suddenly teleported into a mysterious room, and soon contacted by Fizzwidget, the owner of Megacorp. He wants Ratchet and Clank to get back a stolen experiment, a blue thing that is supposed to be a pet. Now just guess what Ratchet says.

Rating of R&C2:

Storyline: 8/10
The storyline is great, but not as good as in the first game. Also, the story does not really follow the story of R&C1, as it was supposed to be. The good thing about the story is that it's extremely funny, just like the original. As good as everything is turned into a joke.

Graphics: 9/10
A little cartoony, but that is the way it's meant to be. Few glitches, though there are some weird ones. Environments, characters and animations are great. There are few objects that Ratchet can interact with, just some specific items that can be crushed for Bolts, the currency of the game. Very good variation between the different levels.

Gameplay: 7/10
A great game that you can't put down before you've completed it. After completing it is another story. A great new feature is that after you beat the game for the first time, you are returned to the beginning, but this time with quadruppled difficulty. The bad thing is, after completing this, the game never gets harder. Only thing to do is to start a new game from scratch.

Overall: 8/10
A really good game worth buying. As for weapon freaks, this game is perfect, with it's arsenal of 24 incredible weapons, including the R.Y.N.O II(Rip Ya a New One), the Zodiac, and also some old school weapons from the first game, free if you've got a completed R&C1 game saved to the Memory Card.

Since this is a sequel, I advice anyone that finds this game interesting to buy R&C1 first.

Also, if anybody need help about R&C1 or 2, feel free to contact me.
