Hey guys! I, TheFadedWarrior, am back with yet another review for you guys. This time I am reviewing one of my favorite games of all time, Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. Metal Arms is a game where you play as a robot named Glitch. It is a shooter game, but a much different shooter game than most. For one, it is unrealistic. Two, it's all robot-based, so the story, gameplay, and weapons are all much different than what you would expect from a regular shooter game. This game is for the Nintendo Gamecube, the Sony Playstation 2, and the Microsoft XBOX. Now, onto the review! I hope you enjoy!

Graphics - 10

I believe this game can show what the Gamecube and the Playstation 2 (but not the XBOX) can really do with the system's graphics engine. Everything is textured well, lots of detail in everything, and some pretty cool special effects when you blow your enemies up. This game truly has amazing graphics for the platforms it is on. The coloring and especially the shading are both very well done. I honestly can't recall ever seeing anything in this game that does not have very good design or graphics. I give the graphics an amazing perfect 10!

Sound - 8

The sound and music tracks of this game are quite good sounding. Each track and noise describes the event happening perfectly. Some of the songs can sound pretty awesome. Here is an example (link). Here is a better example (link). I apologize, but I could not find the full soundtrack. I give the sound a great rating of 8.

One of the things about this game is that the dialogue is supposed to be funny. It is. The enemies ranting hilarious phrases can get annoying sometimes, but when it's not annoying it's pretty funny and entertaining.

Gameplay/Addictiveness - 10

This is one of the single most entertaining games I have ever played. So you're a robot named Glitch and there are all these enemy dudes. There is a medium variety of enemies, but each one is completely different. Most of the enemies are Mils, but there are also Zombiebots and some other types of enemies. But first, let's talk about the weapons. There is a large variety of awesome weapons to be found in the game. Each weapon has 2 upgrades to it, each being either hidden or at the barter shop. Here they are:

PRIMARY WEAPONS

1. The Mining Laser

Glitch was actually recruited as a mining droid, which explains this weapon. The Mining Laser is one of the main weapons (and the first), and deals little damage, but is accurate and has to recharge in a short amount of time, rather than needing ammo. This is best used if you are fighting Grunts, the weakest enemy in the game, since it deals little damage. The first upgrade allows you to charge up your Mining Laser for a more powerful blast if you hold down the R1 trigger super tight. The second upgrade gives the Mining Laser another barrel, making you shoot twice as fast and deal twice the damage. This upgrade makes the Mining Laser much more useful.

2. The Ripper

The Ripper is pretty useless in my opinion, but it can be great if you aim right. The Ripper is a gun that shoots out razor blades. This is the only weapon that lets you cut wires to get across certain places. If you shoot a razor blade at an enemy's arm, it will cut it off, so it's just hanging there. If you shoot at it some more times, it will fall completely off. You can also shoot the enemy's head and the enemy's legs. Shooting the torso wouldn't do much. The first upgrade is a huge advantage. It gives you rapidfire, so you can cut the enemy's body parts off much faster. The second upgrade is even more of an advantage. It makes the razor blades actually spin when they hit the enemy, tearing through the metal.

3. The S.P.E.W. (Small Projectile Emitting Weapon)

The SPEW is another one of the main guns in the game. It's a small, inaccurate rapid-fire gun. Nothing much to it. This is your best choice once you get it, until you get the upgrades to the Rivet Gun. The first upgrade for the SPEW upgrade increases accuracy and damage. The second upgrade is a very good upgrade. It makes the SPEW super-rapidfire and much more accurate, making a very powerful weapon.

4. The Rivet Gun

The Rivet Gun is a very unique gun. It shoots arrows at your enemy, which stick to them. The first version is pretty useless, but once you get the upgrades, the Rivet Gun can be very powerful. The first upgrade makes your arrows explode after awhile, dealing extra damage. The second upgrade lets you charge the explosion of your arrow if you hold the R1 button down really hard. If you hold it down long enough, the arrow will turn orange and deal massive damage once you let go.

5. The Rocket Launcher/Barrage Cannon

The Rocket Launcher is obviously one of the strongest weapons in the game. It deals a large amount of damage to all enemies, obviously. There's not much to say about this weapon. The first upgrade let's you carry it one-handed, letting you fire faster. It also makes it deal more damage. The second upgrade turns it into the Barrage Cannon. The Barrage Cannon makes your rocket explode into 4 homing missiles, dealing massive damage to multiple enemies. This upgrade makes it one of the best weapons. Speaking of the best weapons...

6. The Scatter Blaster

The Scatter Blaster is basically a shotgun, dealing a nice amount of damage to enemies. One upgraded to level 3, the Scatter Blaster will be the ultimate weapon. The first upgrade makes the Scatter Blaster double-barreled, doubling damage. The second upgrade... oh boy. The second upgrade makes the Scatter Blaster even more powerful and makes it rapidfire. You can blast all enemies to pieces from 1-5 seconds depending on which enemy it is. According to the game, it "blasts all Mils into pieces in mere zeptoseconds." A zeptosecond is 1 sextillionth of a second (1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000th of a second). Whether you want to attack a massive group of enemies or some super strong enemies, the Level 3 Scatter Blaster is the best option by far.

7. The Slingshot

Pfft. All this "weapon" does is throw secondary weapons at your enemies from a far distance. This is virtually useless once you get your level 3 arm upgrade (which lets you throw much further). There are no upgrades.

8. The Control Tether

The Control Tether is the coolest weapon in the game. If you can successfully sneak up to the back of a Mil, and shoot the Control Tether at it, you gain control of the Mil. You can then walk around as a Mil destroying Mils. This is very fun to do. The first upgrade locks onto the Mil's control panel faster, reloads faster, takes control faster, and makes the enemy stronger. The second upgrade does the same even more, making the Control Tether one of the best weapons there is.

9. The Toaster

The Toaster is not a kitchen appliance. It is rather a flamethrower. Once you catch the enemy on fire, it deals constant damage for awhile. Ammo is rare, and there are no upgrades, so the Toaster is an inferior weapon. It's still pretty cool though.

SECONDARY WEAPONS

1. The Coring Charge

The Coring Charge is an explosive. You throw it at your enemies to deal a very large amount of damage. I would say the Barrage Cannon is better than the Coring Charge.

2. The Cleaner

The Cleaner is basically a super-strong version of the Coring Charge that homes in on enemies. You can lock on to 3 enemies, firing 1 powerful rocket at each of them. If you lock onto 1 enemy, it will still fire 3 rockets. The Cleaner deals more damage than any other weapon, so it is very useful.

3. The Scope

The Scope is the only secondary weapon that can be upgraded. It basically zooms in on enemies for certain guns so you can be more accurate with your shot. It also gives info about the enemy, including its name and health. The first upgrade lets you zoom in more. The second upgrade does the same. The Scope is best suited for the Rivet Gun.

4. EMP Grenade

The EMP Grenade is extremely useful for the Control Tether and more powerful enemies. It basically makes them fall asleep for a couple seconds, so you can fire away at them (though it makes you dizzy).

5. Recruiter Grenade

The Recruiter Grenade, in my opinion, is the most useful secondary weapon. It makes all enemies near it go to your side, giving you an army. This is extremely useful.

6. The Wrench

You can only use this in 2 levels. It makes you fall apart.

Whew! That took awhile. Now... onto the enemies. First off, there are Grunts. Grunts are the main Mil enemies you see in the game. They come in many colors, each having their own weapons. Here is the code:

Blue - Mining Laser
Red - SPEW
Green - Rocket Launcher
Black - Rivet Gun
Silver - Toaster

The next enemy is the Leech. Leeches are especially annoying, but are only in 2 levels. They can get stuck on your head and suck out your health, and they can also lift you up into the air and shake you around.

Next is the Guard. These guys are especially tough. They run very fast, and have a blade-staff-thingy that shoots lasers. So they can shoot you from afar, and they can slice the crap out of you from near.

Next up is the Titan, one of the two most powerful enemies along with the Guard. The Titan has 2 chainguns on its hands, resulting in lots of rapidfire damage, and 2 rocket launchers on its shoulders, resulting in massive explosion damage. These guys have more health than any other enemy. These guys are freakin' tough.

The next enemy is the Trooper. These guys are really annoying, since they usually fly around in the sky, avoiding attacks and shooting at you. They have awesome jetpacks. When they come to the ground they dive at you and slice you up because they have blades instead of arms. When on the ground they slash at you. These guys have pretty low health though, but they are still pretty annoying.

The coolest enemy in my opinion is the Predator. These guys are flying Mils that look like... things. They have 4 guns that shoot rapidfire purple beams at you, dealing lots of damage. They also have a special attack where they shoot rapidfire rockets at you, completely destroying you.

Next is the Swarmer. Swarmers are tiny spider-like robots that, yes, come in swarms. They crawl all over you, rapidly dealing tiny amounts of damage. To get rid of them, you have to shoot them with fire. If they are on you, light yourself on fire.

The final Mil is the Scientist. Scientists are Mils that shoot pink beams to drain your health. If they are on your side, they rather shoot blue beams that heal you.

The final enemy is the Zombiebot. These guys are really annoying. First of all, they are really fast and like to eat you or whatever, dealing lots of damage. Second, they have two lives. You shoot them with a rocket launcher twice, and they fall to scraps. Then they come back to life. Then you have to shoot them two more times before they finally explode.

Jeez gosh baloney. That took a lot of my time. So yeah, this game is really really fun. Seeing as it's so super duper fun, and it's pretty long, I give the addictiveness and gameplay another perfect 10!

Story - 8

I think the story is pretty cool. There are these mining droids on the planet Iron Star that are, well, in a mine when their canine droid finds a robot named Glitch. Glitch has that Morbot insignia on his head, which amazes them. Why does this amaze them? The Morbots are supposed to be extinct. The Morbots were incredibly intelligent robots that had very futuristic technology. So the droids bring Glitch to their general. The general makes him a miner. In the first level, Mils appear out of nowhere, which starts a war. Glitch has to go on a very long journey to defeat General Corrosive, the leader of the Mils. However, there is also General Corrosive's creator, Dr. Exavolt...

Depth - 9

This game is pretty long. There are 42 levels, each pretty long in depth. There are a few that take about half an hour, and there are a few that take about 1 minute. But most of them take from 8-20 minutes to complete. The difficulty of this game also makes the game a bit longer. I give the depth an amazing 9.

Difficulty - 8

We're nearing the end of the review with the last subject, the difficulty. Metal Arms is actually pretty tough. There are infinite lives and about 3 checkpoints in each level, so it's not impossible, but it's still really hard. After you get the strongest weapons, things get a bit easier, but the Titans and Predators can be really tough to beat. There's also sometimes a group of Rocket Launcher Grunts and Titans that can get really hard to get through. I give the difficulty an 8.

Overall - 9.2

Overall, Metal Arms is definitely a game worth buying. I would spend 100 dollars on this game. It has amazing graphics, great sound, and it is exceptionally fun to play. The story is well written, the game is long, and it offers a nice challenge while still letting newbies beat it. Overall, I give this game an astounding 9.2.

Thank you for reading this review! Feel free to criticize! Though there's nothing to criticize about this perfect review.
