Bec here. This thread is all about different ways to study subjects. Anyone can post but must follow these rules. Don't be intimidated since they're easy.

1) Each post must have a header of what subject which you like to share your study techniques. All subjects will have a color coded header so people can easily find it.

Math History English Science Foreign Language Miscellaneous

There's the headers above with the color each are assigned to. ?

2) They must be beneficial and help students find ways to study on subjects with different methods to help them with their studying.

3) Examples are not required but highly recommended. Some subjects usually have little examples like history or English but mathematics and science, I highly recommend you posting examples to show it's valid and give an understanding what you're talking about. Could post a photo, type it out , even make a video.

4) could talk about studying itself or study upon a certain topic of a subject.

5) Stressing this out, we're not here to give answers. ?This is to help you out with studying and get a grasp on subjects. ?

6) Anyone can post. Teachers and students. Though you guys already know lol.

So these are the rules. Plus, the forum rules still apply since its common sense.?

Hoping this seems all right my fellow mods. Feel free to edit if you want and I'll probably will too once it starts rolling.

I don't really know how to specify how I study different subjects, I study the same for them all. So I guess I'll just post ways to study all subjects if that is okay.

1) Make Flashcards. Self-quizzing is open of the best ways to remember things
2) Play light, classical music. This includes orchestras. The key thing is to have NO VOCALS.
3) Have snacks. If you ever get hungry studying, you will be more focused on hunger then studying
4) Don't cram. Studying a little every night I much less stressful than cramming. You will also do better on tests
5) Review, review, and review some more. Did I mention you should review? Going over everything more than once helps you learn it better.
EXTRA- For some harder classes, knowing isn't everything. You have to learn some material well enough to be able to apply it to situations. A good notation of this is if you can teach it to someone else.

Hope this helps. Most of you may know all of this, but a least one person learning something makes it all worth it. Happy studying, you're going to need it.

When you are studying for a test, focus on WHAT happened more than when it happened. Some dates are obviously important, but very few teachers now are going to penalize you for being off on the year if you know what happened (unless you're off by a century or more... that is just silly).

If you own the book and do not have to turn it in at the end of the year (this is more for college students), do not be afraid to highlight important information like names and key pieces of information.

Learn to dissect a textbook (again, more for college). Always read the preface and introduction because they you will get what the author's point of view is in writing the book. Read the first and last paragraph of a chapter completely as those are you intro and conclusion. Read the first and last sentence of every paragraph in between to get the gist of the chapter, then you can go back over it and know where you have to focus for more detail. This is what they taught us in our historiography class.

I use the cornwell study method for most of my classes. It's basically just a note taking strategy/system to help you revise more of the main topics.

Now obviously this doesn't really work for mathe as much but it works for things like history, science or memorizing terms in English.

I find that as long as I keep a date of what happened and when it hasppens it can give me a better idea of what I have to study and when. I also agree with QuigMaster1 here, I never pull all nighter because I end up trying to figure out what I studied the next day.

It's even proven that studying a little bit every night rather than 5 hours straight it better for learning and memorizing.
