Movie-wise I have always been attracted more to science-fiction, especially Star Wars. More fantastic movies like the Neverending Story were good but do not have the same appeal, and Lord of the Rings is simply too long despite being interesting starting with the Two Towers.

For books I definitely prefer sci-fi. During college I read several of Jules Vernes' books. It is simply amazing how he was able to picture the future in an almost prophetic way with From to the Earth to the Moon and 20k Leagues Under the Sea.
