I was watching this hilarious video (sorry, it has some cussing in it, but no F- word)
And I was thinking,can Sega never satisfy everyone with a Sonic game?

Looking back over the series, it's changed a lot over the years.
It went from a game marketed towards 10 year olds, to 14-17 year olds with 
Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2, then it went for even higer audiences with
Sonic 06, and Shadow the hedgehog. And with all the different stuff that they've done,
I think that it's divided the fanbase beyond repair. I mean there are like five different
major idea's on how a Sonic game should be made:

1: Genesis, and colors fans.

2: Sonic Adventure 1 and Adventure 2 is the way to go fans

3: Give us all hail Shadow, and more heavy metal Sonic Fans, oh, don't forget SA2.

4: Unleashed, Sonic and knuckles! (kinda a balance fans)

5 Dimps, Blaze the Cat, Nintendo DS.

I think that it's hard to say what is a good constant for the Sonic series.
I think that it's also hurt Sega a fair amount. Cuase everyone expects something
different from Sonic!

Just See the video, they complain about everything that is to be complained about.
And did I mention that it's a good video?

This is one of the videos' that I've seen. Just thought that I'd show you it.

This is where I honestly stand on the fanbase thus far, and to this day i'm still crossing my fingers it'll get better for the most part. So way back when I had a Genesis and I had the original Sonic games. The classics are and always will be the most  amazing ever and that includes my favorite: Sonic CD. I can always go back and play those without a second thought and have a grand old time.

Now when things moved forward to Adventures, I loved those a lot too. I thought a complete 3D Sonic game was amazing and everyone had character development and a voice to go with them. That honestly changed up everything and made things pretty darn new and fun all while keeping a fast pace to the gameplay and a reason to take out Dr. Robotnik (YES I'M USING ROBOTNIK). After the first one was a huge hit, they came out with another one that blew all expectations out of the water from the first one and now Sonic had a whole new rival to deal with other than Robotnik. This was a game pretty much everyone jumped in on (and by that I mean playable)...besides Amy...because she's Amy. But I think the best feature from the game was playing both the Heroes and Villains.

Sadly, after that..is where my love of Sonic started to drop off. I played Sonic 06'...and hated my life. I tried all the Wii games..they were okay. I at least thought Unleashed was kinda cool for the "Werehog" and how that changed the gameplay up a bit. I didn't bother with Sonic Colors at all. 

You know, i'm sure lots of people may be hating on Generations, but I really really liked it and loved the idea. Bringing Current and Classic together in revamped history of Sonic all the way to the most recent was a genius idea in my eyes. It was kinda like having the best of both worlds and even having rival battles from past to present thrown in too. 

As for the new Sonic: Lost World or whatever it is...probably may not touch it. 

But yes, sadly the Sega fanbase has become greatly divided since they keep changing everything up all the time and trying to appeal to different people. I've also noticed a lot of fans give Sega so much flak because they give ideas to Sega and they aren't used and they throw fits. I've been to enough Sonic Websites and forums to see this occur. Sega will take Sonic whichever way they want but i'm sure they know what they've done for the most part.

Maybe one day we'll start seeing Sonic games that appeal to everyone and are really good.

zerothesaint : Sonic a Lost world is basically a Sonic Colors 2. (imo Sonic was high in colors)

I *might* get it when it's 20 or 30$ but that's it. (I want something to actually play on my Wii U)

I don't quite grasp the Genesis and color fans. 

but yeah there are quite a few groups. 

and the sad thing is that The Black Knight (a game from the dark era) beats Zelda TP to a pulp.

Colors wasn't that bad.
The game was weird, but it was one of the most purely fun
Sonic games that I've ever played. But, other games have
better environments.
