This Thunder/Grizzlies series has been freaking insane.

THREE STRAIGHT GAMES that resulted in overtime.

You can't make this crap up.

First time since 2009's Celtics/Bulls series. I think that's the second time ever, too.

No matter who wins this series, I think they make it to the Western Conference Finals. Both of these teams are absolutely incredible and are doing EXACTLY what they need to.

This is definitely the best of the series in the postseason so far. I mean, look at the rest of the matchups. Other than Wizards/Bulls, what matchups have ended in OT twice? What games have been so close that one or two possessions will have made the difference in who would have won the game? This is definitely the best one in my opinion.

And the Thunder manage to tie the series and we are in a best if 3 situation. I'm loving this series and will definitely watch what happens the rest of this series.

Bulls lost a must-win game four, when Nene was suspended.

Series over.

What a joke.

They played terrific basketball all year, and could have beaten the Heat, when healthy.

Instead, an embarrassing first round exit.

I want to say fire Thibs, but I'll hold off on that.

Sign Melo, hope Rose can get healthy, Amnesty Boozer.

Do that, and I'll be fine with this s***ty year.

legacyme3 : That was a pathetic performance, and this series has been a disaster. This was a must win and they were even given the handicap of playing a Wizards team that didn't even have Nene. Bulls were a disappointment, and now they see a first round exit coming and a long offseason awaits.

Yet another Rockets/Blazers game that goes into OT. This time Blazers came out on top and are one away from advancing. The Rockets got a lot of ground to cover. It's also amazing that the Heat is the only high seed that's not in danger of getting knocked out.
Pacers #1 - have been down in the series
Spurs #1 - are down 2-1 now.
Thunder #2 - have been down
Clippers #3 - have been down only in the first game and the Sterling incident hanging over them.
Raptors #3 - have been  down
Bulls and Rockets #4 - down 3-1

Azul Fria :

Yet, very few of them actually feel like upsets.

The Bulls being upset right now isn't "terribly" surprising, although it's supremely disappointing. The Bulls are the better team, but the Wizards match up well against them, and there's little the Bulls can honestly do. This showed last night more than any other, as even without Nene, the Wizards handed the Bulls a total whooping through 3 quarters. The Bulls made up a lot of ground in the 4th, but it's too little too late. The Wizards aren't a bad team at all, but the Bulls missed their chance.

The Rockets losing to the Trailblazers right now isn't surprising at all. I don't watch a ton of the Rockets, but the Trailblazers are one of my favorite teams in the NBA, so I watch a lot of their games. Going in, I knew it was going to be a tight series, and expected it to be the best matchup of the playoffs. It's been even better than I expected (although this is true of almost every matchup except the Heat/Bobcats series) and a true treat. The Rockets may be the best team to get eliminated this round, aside from the Clippers (I don't really like the Spurs or Pacers, as you can probably tell), and that's a shame, because they can push any of the teams to the limit. They just had the bad luck to draw the only team that could feasibly beat them in 5 games.

The Raptors should lose to the Nets, and honestly, if the Raptors won the series, it'd be an upset. I'm not quite sure how the Raptors got the #3 seed, but the Nets are clearly the better team. The series is tied, but I feel like the Raptors lucked their way into both wins. The Nets beating the Raptors just doesn't feel like an upset.

The Clippers are a special case. In a series not tainted by Donald Sterling, they'd probably be winning. The Warriors have fought them hard, but the Clippers are obviously distracted. It's a shame, because this series could have been really fun. It's just hard to be invested now. The Clippers need to put this behind them, and bring their game to the court when they reconvene in LA. It'll be an upset, but a tainted upset.

The Thunder found a tough opponent in the Grizzlies, and honestly, I think the Thunder are the only team prepared to fight the Grizzlies back as hard. Three straight games in OT. Three. Straight. The fact this is only the second time in post season history says it all. The series has been a killer. I want the rest of the playoffs to be as intense as these games have been. No matter who wins, I can't call it an upset at this point. They are so ridiculously evenly matched that I could honestly see either winning.

The Spurs have been disappointing. I don't watch the Mavericks often (because they are boring, personally), but I have the feeling they just aren't this good. Maybe someone with more knowledge on both team can tell me if this was expected. The Spurs are the #1 seed, and they are losing to an 8th seed that barely made the playoffs. This is an upset, and honestly, aside from the Clippers upset, probably the only one that I'd call an actual upset.

Then you have the Pacers, who stumbled late into the #1 seed. The Pacers have looked ugly, and I'm honestly way surprised that they managed to tie it up. I expect the Pacers to win this series, but I also expect it to go all 7 games. The Hawks winning wouldn't be "surprising", but it isn't the expected result.

The Conference Semis are going to be fun to watch. Pacers vs. Wizards (Don't think the Bulls win now), could easily result in a Wizards/Heat clash in the Conference Finals. Heat vs. Nets (though the Raptors would work too, just not as well), though, will be very fun. The Nets will challenge the Heat, giving them an actual challenge (nothing against the Bobcats, but there are 6 playoff teams in the East). Mavericks or Spurs against the Trailblazers? Sounds like it could be a classic. Then Warriors (or Clippers, who knows) vs. the Thunder (or the Grizzlies). Either series could be as good as the Thunder/Grizzlies series has been.

Fun time to be an NBA fan.

We have just witnessed what may be the final Bobcats game ever (by we I mean whoever watched the game). Just like in 2009, the Bobcats could not overcome the massive challenge of winning a game against the amazing second seed team (I hope the heat lose in the finals like the Magic did in 09). Maybe a name change will help launch Charlotte into a successful franchise...sorry. I can't help but laugh when I say that. It's too funny.

megamanmaniac :

That WAS the last Bobcats game ever.

The next time they take the court, they will be the Hornets.

I'll miss the Bobcats. I never liked the Hornets name, personally.

Even though this is the last time they would be known as the Bobcats, at least they went out with a playoff berth despite being swept. Not only that, they went out with a winning season.
Pacers are in do or die mode now as the Hawks are looking to be the 3rd 8th seed team in 4 years to knock off a #1 and it's too early to tell just yet but it could be double time if the Mavs win this series.

Azul Fria : Even if the Bobcats failed to win a postseason game, I have to give them some respect. They have been the butt of many jokes since their inception in 2003 (you know...when New Orleans was formed). They even had a 7-59 season a couple of seasons ago. Despite this, they turned things around a little and clinched a playoff berth with a winning record. They just had the s**t luck of playing the Heat in the first round. If they had faced anyone else, they probably could have won a game or two.

Pacers are an even bigger disappointment than the Bulls right now. There is no excuse for trailing 80-30 on your home court against a sun .500 Hawks team after pulling out a 91-88 win in Atlanta to take home court back. And now they just pretty much gave it back. I don't think that Indiana is playing like their normal selves in any way shape or form, especially with Hibbert serving up goose eggs in everything but fouls and George failing to heat up. Pacers are in danger of losing to the worst team in the playoffs, and if that's not bad enough, they're letting Atlanta embarrass them on their home court. They may have finished strong, but that means nothing if you're not playing well all 48 minutes.

You can't score 69 points and win a playoff game.

What a disappointment.

f*** you Thibs. You did a horrible job coaching when it mattered most. Which is a shame. You normally don't suck.

Sign Melo in the offseason, get the f*** rid of Hinrich, and hope Derrick Rose is healthy.

The NBA is such an awful league run by a few super stud teams and and bad refs, the playoffs usually indicate this but its been a weird year where nearly all the teams are as bad as eachother besides the bobcats. The NFL, MLB and NHL are much better leagues.

This is a good thing for the Washington Wizards. It's been a while since they've made it to the post season, and now, they are actually going to the second round. The city will definitely benefit from it. It's good for John Wall as well, as he can actually be known as a No. 1 draft pick that did something, and not just a very good player on a very bad team.

Wowsers. Talk about Derek Fisher moment. Damian Lillard hit a three at the buzzer to win the series for the Blazers. Both 5 seeds have advanced and looks like at least one 8 seed can make it to next round. All the other games are game 7s and if Paul George gets suspended, it's over for the Pacers.

Pacers won the first of five game 7's. they'll be facing the Wizards in the second round. I'm upset about it (still pissed that the Pacers beat the Knicks last year). Atlanta couldn't win two home games that would've pretty much ended the series (in Game 4 it could have, in Game 6 it would have). But they couldn't, and now I have to hope the Wizards can beat them.

Right now Thunder vs. Grizzlies has come down to an epic game 7. The Thunder lead 61-58 at the half, and the Grizzlies have led most of the way until a rally late in the second by the Thunder. It'd be more fun if Randolph was playing, but it's still a good game.

I can't wait for the Warriors @ Clippers game. That one is going to be one hell of a game, with a lot on the line (moreso for Clippers). I wouldn't mind watching the entire game (except Toonami is on, so I'll probably miss the second half).

Here's a separate topic that playoff related, but has anyone been noticing the overly called fouls on potentially 4 point plays? I have never seen so many calls in one round of the playoffs that hearing the whistle after shooting a 3 becomes a common thing.

Is this a good thing?

play4fun : The NBA has become way too soft. Nowadays, a tap on the elbow warrants a foul. It's ridiculous, because I've seen players hit a player 15x harder on some jump shots and nothing was called. A bump won't be called, but one tiny touch will. It's ridiculous. I understand the concern for the safety of the players, but it's out of control how soft refs have become.

All three high seeds survived to move on today. Pacers, Thunder, and Clippers. I can't take away from the other teams, they gave it all they had. Only the Clippers-Warriors wasn't as decisive as the others. Now we'll see Clippers and Thunder go at it. It's a match we been waiting for for the last two seasons.

I was actually pretty disappointed.

I'm glad the Clippers had their success story, and no knock on them.

But I really wanted to see Warriors/Thunder.

Stephen Curry vs. Kevin Durant. That kind of shooting would be absolutely insane to watch over a long series.
