Hello everyone and welcome to the new walkthrough. Let's go back to the Master System with another game I played when I was a kid. After "Alex Kidd in Miracle World" and "Shinobi", it's time to make a walkthrough of "Mercs". I beat it when I was a kid, my grandbrother never got a chance to beat it. Several years later, I decided to replay this game and beat it a second time. So here it is, the walkthrough of September. The walkthrough of Mercs. It's going to be a short walkthrough because the game itself is short. Oh and sorry for the lack of screenshots, I made a special bonus for you at the end of the walkthourgh.

MISSION 1

You start on the shore and two guys are greeting you. Kill them, destroy the trees, go to the right and grab the power up. Destroy the cabin, then kill some bad guys, take the food and the missile (1) then proceed to the boss area. This is the first boss of the game. Use your missiles to get rid of it easily. Yes, you spam the button assigned to the missiles and this plane will become a wreck and the first stage will be over.

MISSION 2

Ride the jeep, take some goodies on your way to the next zone, kill some enemies and destroy the tank. Carry on, destroy the tank that blocks the way, grab some stuff, and go to the north. Use you missiles to kill this boss. I know it looks like "deja-vu" but it's the cheap way to get rid of all the bosses of this game. Four missiles will do the trick for this boss.

MISSION 3

Ok, you're starting to get used of this game and its short levels. A new enemy will appear in this level: the turrets. If you have the rocket launcher upgrade, two rockets are required to destroy one of these turrets. Halfway, you'll see some kind of barrier with two galtings guns put on it. Stay between them and shoot the barrier. Proceed to the north, killing the enemies and grabbing some items here and there (including a life bar up at the beginning). The boss of this stage is an helicopter. As always, use your missiles to weaken it and finish it with some shots if it's still alive.

MISSION 4

Take the flame thrower, go north, burn some enemies and reach the other side of the river. Take some goodies, destroy the cabin and manage to take a boat in order to cross the lake. Destroy some boats, the bridge halfway, go east, take the stuff and cross the bridge to face the boss. Yes, it's a boat. Let's sink it with missiles and shots, shall we? I hope you have enough life for this fight because this boat looks dangerous if you are not very ready.

MISSION 5

The mountain pass. The boss of this stage is really long and hard to beat if I remember correctly. I think we're getting close to the end of the game too. But let's not talk about that yet. As always, your goal is to the north, so go there as soon as possible, killing enemies and grabbing the stuff you'll see in the crates, go in the alley behind the last tank and get ready for the boss fight. You're on a platform and you have to dodge the missiles coming at you. Don't fall off: at this speed, you'll obviously die. The first two parts of the train throw some cannonballs. Use one missile and some shots until you move forward. The two last parts are the galting guns. Same technique as always, one missile and some shots. It's a bit tricky at this point but if you are prepared for that, it should be ok and you should take care of this boss easily.

MISSION 6

Things are getting serious. The first part of this stage is easy until you reach the first corridor of death. Kill the enemies and the two tanks, grab some stuff and go through the dagerous path carefully. The shots coming from the left and the right are deadly, they might kill you if you don't pay attention. Carry on, go through the next corridor of your doom, go north, destroy the gate, then avoid the airplanes, destroy the last gate and face the boss. Missiles and shots bla bla bla, you know the score. Watch out, this artillery shoots three times. Avoid the shots and shoot until the machine dies.

MISSION 7

This is it. The final boss. Well, I don't know if I can describe that as a boss fight. I mean, compared to the previous bosses that were somehow challenging, this one is a joke. Even Rion versus Dorothy from the videogame Galerians on PSX (that I obviously made a walkthrough of it a long time ago) is better than this fight, I'm sorry. All you need to do is destroy the two helix and the mission is accomplished. Ok, as the hostage is inside the jet, I agree that destroying the plane is not the solution but come on, more challenge would have been welcome. So yeah, that's pretty much all you have to do: aim at the two helix. At one point, the plane will move but it's not a big deal though. And yeah, no missiles to use... not a problem too. Use your only weapon on the targets and save the president. Congratulations, you beat Mercs.
