You can either talk about it in Star Fox command, or in Star Fox 64, but
I would like to ask the question: Do you like Auquas in Star Fox 64?

On thing that I liked about the Blue Marine over the landmaster is the Blue
marine's ability to use a double laser.

Auquas has an amazing soundtrack, and a beautiful scene.

*oh yeah, I think that ender may still be lurking around here*

I only played Command once and because of that I just don't remember it as well (until I get my own copy here real soon) so i'll just base it off of N64. Auquas is an amazing planet. It may be a giant ball of water but the wildlife and scenery underneath the surface is just beautiful and amazing. The Star Fox team really thought outside the box and made this a very special mission with a brand new vehicle the Blue Marine which I thought was amazing. Like you mention Sword, the sub was pretty awesome having twin lasers AND an infinite secondary of missiles.

The soundtrack and the scenery of this planet is what I think really made it aside from the very unique enemies and boss that came from it. Its like Solar but not as harsh and you can really tell the change in scenery as you get closer to the boss. That was another factor I loved. You see what the planet is like without the bio-weapon but as you draw closer to it you can see the visual damage that has been caused because of Andross' meddling.

Auquas has to be one of my most favorite levels from Star Fox 64.

Well said!

You got me thinking about something, did you notice
that there are pillars under the water?

Those pillars mean that the planet has intelligible life,
or at least it did at one point in time.

Sword legion : That is something i've always wondered growing up and playing that level almost all the time. I did look into that earlier today since this thread was made and apparently the "bio-weapon", Bacoon the giant clam, isn't under Andross' control and that things been there for a long time. So the civilization is ancient and was apparently destroyed because this giant self-aware clam became jealous.

Source: http://starfox.wikia.com/wiki/Aquas

I did also notice the Aquati thing myself and wondered but was going to wait and see what happens. But now I know. :3

Whoa! That is so cool!

don't you love it when Nintendo does stuff like that though?
Throwing in huge backstories that are subtly referenced in the game like that?

It's like how Nintendo made the Forest Temple as abandoned fortess
once owned by the Kingdom of Ikahna from Termina!

New story of the Auqauti:

Baccoon didn't kill all of the inhabitants, because some of the
original inhabitants were creaturs like Zoras, the flood waters made
Auquas a better habitat for them.

OR. . .

The Auquati are intelligent species from outside the Lylat system who made
small settlements on Auquas. The Cornerian made an alliance with them because the
Auquati would make better use of the planet and could warn Corneria of attacks at the same time.

spoiler:

I actually came up with the Aquati before I realized that there were pillars on Auquas.

Sword legion : Hahaha! Man..I use to always point out those pillars to my buddies when we played. But yes, original Nintendo had some of THE BEST hidden backstories to games. When they leave little hints in games it drives us nuts because we want to know what it is, the significance of whatever it is and how it could impact the story we're already given. It pays off to take a little time and look into stuff. I mean its why I love Star Fox and its why I love Mega Man.

Mega Man being that there is a larger story to EVERYTHING. Especially in Mega Man X. It lead to theories and so many things that I literally spent 2 straight years piecing together to make a theory that just hits every key point...it sounds obsessive but man is it fun. It the same with Star Fox for me. I know there is so much more to the series. And the fact they made a big manga series based on the game? Man i'm searching around to find them! XD

*ahem* But back to the thread at hand...the only issue I see with the first one is if being underwater made it better for them then being outside their initial water habitat how can they survive efficiently? And I don't mean like the minute they step out of water they're gonna die but how can they maintain their peak performance and stuff I guess.

The second one sounds just as fascinating though. With them being outside of the Lylat System that could open up to more potential story with them and give them and entire background and where they come from, new enemies, and a bunch of other stuff if you so desired. Just my two cents on those.

zerothesaint :

I'm not letting the RPG stay inside of the Lylat system.
Sonikku is in the Anon system right now.

Hey, that reminds me to make a map, so I'll get to it and post
here is a half hour or so.

I think that I'll go with the second one.

(according to theory one there were two inhabitants one could
only breath air, the other could be in water and on land, they were kinda like Zoras).

I totally hear ya about the Mega man stuff, I might still be, well ok,
I still love Zelda actually.
I hope that Nintendo keeps giving good backstories like this.
It really does help make the series better.

The only problem with this race is that it makes Slippy an Aquati. I believe one of the endings in Command shows Slippy getting married and having kids on Aquas as he spins tales of his adventures with the Star Fox crew. ^^''

The 64 version, I enjoyed playing, but I don't visit the level much because it forces you on a path that is terrible for scoring. I loved the scenery, and the Blue Marine wasn't terrible to control. It's too bad we never see it again.

The Command version, on the other hand, is sadly FAR less detailed. In fact, the only notable feature I can see of it is that it is when aircraft are able to dive into the sea and achieve flight underwater. Whether aircraft at the RP's stage of Lylat's events can dive underwater or not is unknown, because Aquas isn't used after Star Fox 64 until Command. Much prefer the 64 version.

...actually, wait, I think one of the images in Command's epilogue for the ending I mentioned above does show there is actual land mass above the ocean. Whether this is the result of another of Corneria's terraforming experiments or naturally occurring is another matter entirely. Don't quote me on that, though.

sonikku : You mean like this?

It is true though, Slippy just might be an Aquati. As for the land mass that appears on Auquas it is speculated that over the course of the Star Fox timeline that a shifting occurred in the planet which caused the tectonic plates to collide and formed a large landmass island. Soon enough i'll own Star Fox Command myself so i'll get to see what you're talking about but man that sounds kinda sad..

As for the RP, we could somehow incorporate underwater abilities to aircraft since this its taking place in the timeline area of Star Fox 2 with Arwing Walkers and those are capable of "swimming". So we'll see how it ultimately plays out.

Oh right, I actually forgot about that. Yeah, they could fly underwater at this point, and this was (technically) before Star Fox 64. Now it makes me wonder why they had to use a submarine in 64.

And that's the exact image I was referring to. Figured my memory was somewhat stable about that. The only issue I have with that speculation is that it looks like there's a full grown forest over there. Even though this is shown probably a generation or two down the line in the future (Slippy being a grandpa and all), I think having a full grown forest happen within that time frame is seriously pushing its plausibility.

zerothesaint :

I like the pictures to that ending of Star Fox command.
At least it ends well for Slippy:

Slippy'swedding

There's the forest that you were talking about
sonikku.

End7-2

I have to smile at that pic.
Slippy may not be the best pilot,
but he seems to know how to deal with
girls a lot better.

How about this:

1 when we use the word Aquati, we are refering to
anyone who was born on Auquas. (making Slippy and Auquati
if he was born there).

2 But, there are a species of humanoid flying fish
who came to the Lylat System looking for inhabitable water
planets. Corneria made an alliance with these newcomers and
the two peoples worked together to discover the secrets of Auquas.

I've always been terrified of the ocean, so not really. The level always scared me and the boss is very eerie. I will admit it has great music.

Sword legion : I think that would work out pretty well for the RPG. I mean it would make sense as to how and why they have advanced technology and are probably widespread throughout Lylat. (In noahd's thread I noticed the mention of an "Aquati" ship by GG). So I guess both species had something to offer each other aside from the hidden discovers shrouded by the depths of the planet.

SheLikesCloth : I'm sorry to hear that you're afraid of the ocean. But hey, its not all that bad. Your post here is still quite valued and I will agree that the boss is quite scary in its own way. Never thought i'd see anything like that living in the depths of planet Auquas! XD

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
