Zapper started off moderately fun as it was simple at first to play and rather straight forward in how to play the game. The first level I had no problems getting past and thought that while the difficulty would increase at a moderate rate. Instead I found not so much that game became more difficult.. That was only half of it... but I found that the game play was just annoying.

The graphics honestly don't help the matter either. The designs of the characters are nice in the long run, but the colors are all off and said colors are hard on the eyes. However, I was willing to brush this off as I've seen this set of graphic colors for other games and the color scheme seems to be part of a trend that occurs. However, on top of having the color problems there is the fact you can only see so far in this game on the map.

How is that a problem? Well, if you can't see far enough ahead you can't plan out how you're going to get around certain enemies, particularly since it seems that you can't zap enemies. Everything is based on timing, which if you can't see far enough ahead you end up loosing a lives. Which brings me to another thing.

In the first level you start off with five lives. When you go into the next level after words you are stuck with the number of lives you have until you die, and then you have to start the level all over with five lives. In one way this is handy, you get to plan out your plan of attack for your next time through, but on the other hand it feels like you've been cheated of a chance to get through the level the first time through.

Then there are the bonuses that you unlock by finishing the level. The second set of challenges can't be unlocked until you get through a time challenge. The time challenge... well, you have to be very lucky to beat the time. What should have been a fun game ends up being a pain.

poke-fan-1900 :
Not a bad review though it was a little short and did not quite tell me what I need to know about the game. Your review did convince me that I should go out of my way to not try out this game. (Not sure if that was something you were aiming to do). Some questions I have is how far did you actually get in this game, what was unique about this game, and why you think it deserves the overall rating you gave it? Again I did like it and definitely keep working on reviews
