Hello and welcome to another one of my reviews. Just in case you haven't realized by now I'm reviewing Ocarina of Time for the N64, This game was and is an outstanding master piece in the Legend of Zelda series, And until very recently the first in the time line of the series. (And yes believe it or not there is a time line spanning hundreds of years usually with a new link each time, Starting off with Skyward sword and previously this game.)

This game is one of the most popular on the N64 console ever and I'm pretty sure a lot of people who had a N64 had also played this game or it's sequel at some point in time. And if not before now is your chance right here on Vizzed.com and I think it's one you should take... Here's why.

Graphics: Where to start.. Well, Firstly the games graphics are pretty smoothly running but there are still a few things that always bugged me about the graphics in the game. First of them being the fact that a lot of the character sprites are pretty edgy, On my first play-though of the game before I found out I needed glasses I didn't even notice, On my second play-though afterwards it was pretty much un-bearable, But this could just be me mind you. Secondly there are a lot of surfaces that really need more texture, Like a lot of the stairs in the game are just a flat surface on a.. I'm guessing 45 degree angle or along the lines of that but anyway, All the stairs (Save a few) were really poorly done in my opinion. ( They look like sand paper, I mean it they do.) But all in all these graphics aren't the worse either, They only had so much available to them when it came to graphic generators and besides... In my opinion graphics don't make a good game. There is much more to a good game then graphics and almost everyone should know this by now. But still, I had fun sitting back to the cinematic scenes like at the end where the you know what does you know what. (Avoiding spoilers here.) Anyway.. Over all it doesn't exactly have the best graphics ever in our time, Not bad at all in its time, And they were always enjoyable despite there flaws. My score...  7 ( I know.. Maybe a little low but I have reasons and I thought I explained a few of them to back me up here.)

Sound: Oh man... This sound track was amazing musically, It helped tell the story so much, Got you pumped when you needed to be, Creeped you out... You name it this soundtrack was able to pull out on you. (given you're either young enough you into the game enough to be affected by the music so much.) The sound effects were amazing as well, While some not so realistic but they all sound great and match the world perfectly, So while none of it is perfect it was made to be perfect regardless of the poor technology.. Which is something some recent games have been lacking. This game truly is commendable with the dedication that was put into this game when you play it, It shows too. With a soundtrack that works so well and a set of sound effects that contribute so much to game-play, This game has one of my favorite sound... What's the word.. Sound in general maybe? I don't know, But the sounds in this game were outstanding from beginning to end I enjoyed myself. My score... 9.

Addictiveness: This game is great, Once you've beaten it you can either never touch it again or play again maybe... Never using your shield unless you need it to progress or something along those lines, Al the while when you play it you begin to feel like you're the main character (Link is the default name but that's completely your choice.) and you easily become immersed into the game. I've played though this game several times myself so trust me, I know how much people can truly love this game, It was truly a master-piece and still is to this day, Did I mention it received a 3DS remake recently? It's one of those games who have survived the test of time and is even one of the most played games on Vizzed. It's a commonly mentioned game too and might just have the most popularity out of any of the Zelda games... Zelda being the famous series that it is I'm sure you can imagine what I mean by this. This game has already lasted 15 years and remained popular, Let's see how long it'll last. My score... 9.

Story: Alright, This game does have a story.. A decent one too especially seeing as you play such a huge role in it. I won't go into to much detail here because I want to avoid spoilers but you can learn this from reading a back cover on most games. You start out with the impression you are a young Kokiri (Kind of a ever living fairy kid that'll never grow up.) named "Link" (Your choice, Remember that.) who doesn't have his own fairy, Then you are summoned to go and visit the Great Deku Tree who tells you about your past and reveals that you are truly a Hylian (Like a normal person with long ears... Roughly.) and that you need to embrace your destiny.. Anyway... I really hate giving out spoilers so I'm going to cut this short because I could write a book on this games story.. I mean it, There have been Manga about this story too. Might want to give that a read if you're interested. But I also have a problem with the way this games story is played out... You see it's not like your run of the mill RPG and that's what mostly sets it apart, For better and for worse, While this makes game-play ten times better, It also changes the way the story is told in a huge fashion. My score... 7.

Don't get me wrong, The story is good, But it is told in a way that kills the effect in a sense due to the fact you play it and you will mess up more than Link normally would if it were told like a story, Plus the side characters have less story in order for you to be able to interact with them, That is why my rating for this wasn't higher.

Depth: While the story can be some-what lacking in depth the game and the game-play itself are not at all. You are given a huge 3D environment to explore freely and you gain more freedom as you progress through the game, And at the begging you may have only a little running room, But it quickly expands into a much wider area and a good deal of the game itself is running around and exploring it. Not only is there a lot to explore but there are secrets to find and some of them are very well hidden, But they can easily pay off even if you buy supplies before you go. ( I don't. But you could if you need to or want to.) The game is decently long too which means it'll keep you going for a great while, All in all this game is pretty deep. My score: 10.

Difficulty: Well, Honestly this game isn't too hard, Tedious.. Maybe, Hard.. Nah... The combat doesn't exactly take a pro to master and the puzzles aren't even that tough, While some may be hard to figure out, I see that more as tedious than difficult. All it takes is a little persistence, It's not like you're swimming across a river or even kayaking across. (Trust me, That is difficult... Like seriously.) There are plenty of harder games out there too... Just think about some for a moment and I'm sure you'll get what I mean. Even the last boss isn't too hard... And you almost always have Navi giving you advice, Sure she's annoying... But she has saved me hours of wondering aimlessly when I was playing this as a little kid. All in all the game is more long than it is difficult. My score: 6.

Overall: Now just to be clear, This isn't a combined sum of my other scores, This is my rating towards the game itself as a full. And let me tell you, It's a good game. I've already explained in good detail my thoughts on the aspects of the game and this game has never gotten boring for me to play, I used to spend hours every night playing this game until I managed to fall asleep. (Frickin' insomniac self..) Every last minute of this game was enjoyable, It still has a few minor glitches and flaws but they aren't even really worth mentioning. (Besides, Now you get to go find them.) But yeah... I don't really know how else to say this other than with... My score: 9.7.

Well... This is it, I hope you've enjoyed my review, It's my longest and hopefully best yet, I had a lot of fun writing this and hope to do more soon, Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this and tell me what you think, Maybe rate it on the games page for me.... Who knows what you'll do anyway, Enjoy yourself and have a great day... I need to take a break after writing this thing. Bye.
