Oh boy am I on a Mario kart spree today! I have already reviewed 2 Mario kart titles on this site, Mario kart super circuit on the Game boy advance, And Mario kart 64 for the Nintendo 64, Now It is time for me to review the first official Mario kart game ever made, Super Mario kart for the SNES, This is what started It all for the Mario kart titles! But on question, Does this amazing game still hold up after all of these years? Well we are about to find out!

Haha! Why would there be a real story to this game? But oh well, you can make your own story for this game If you want to, but let's just get on to the actual game.

Gameplay-8/10
Super Mario kart is a 3D kart racer where you control one of 8 Mario and his friends, as you try to race eachother to the finish in 8 laps, Along the way you will also be using a bunch of Items to stop your opponents, which include Red and green koopa shells, red shells home in directly on your opponent, green shells head directly straight, Banana peels which can be placed on the ground for you opponents to slip over, Blue shells which will home in on the racer in first place, and a whole lot of more. There are quite alot of game modes to play, 1-player mode, and 2-player mode, In 1-player mode you can play Mario GP, where you race in a series of tracks winning points along the way, And therse is Time trial, where you can race on any track by yourself finishing in the fastest time possible. In 2-player-mode, You can play Mario GP with your friend, you can race on any track you want with your friend, and you can also battle with your friend in battle arena. Controls are simple, A is accelerate, B is brake, X is item, and L is hop. Well that Is it for the gameplay!

Wow! I know It has been over 20 years since this game has been released, but Is that a bad thing? No! This game looked awesome back then and It still looks pretty awesome today! All the levels and tracks tou will be exploring are big, beautiful, and bursting with color and atmosphere, as for the characters, they look pretty good as well! They are all easily recognizable, mostly Our favorite plumber Mario. The HUD is pretty self explanatory, It shows your coins, what place you are in, and everything else. The game also uses two screens, The top shows the race, and the bottom shows the whole map of people in the race.

Sound-9/10
Orobally the best part of the whole game, the soundtrack! All of the songs that you will be hearing in the game are very catchy, happy, bright, and just overall fun to listen to! As for the sound effects, they are pretty self explanatory too, you get all of your boings, booms, bangs, and mostly that sound whenever you get an Item box, It has been an overall staple of the series. But at times, some and I say SOME of the songs can get quite repetitive, but nothing else is wrong.

Addictiveness-8/10
This game was tons of fun back in 1992, and 21 years later, It still Is today! What I will remember most from the game is The multiplayer, I had so much fun playing with all of my friends late nights It was crazy! Is this a game I am going to play again? Of couse! Why not? The game doesn't deserve this hate, It deserves love!

Yes, this is a game that will last you FOREVER! I will always have fond of memories of this amazing kart racer, no doubt about it! The game offers so much You'll never want to stop playing It, there are also 3 difficulty levels for the Mario GP, 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc, each one gets hard then the last, which is great because I like a challenge!

Difficulty-6/10
To be honest, As much as I was praising the game there, there is one flaw with It, and that Is the difficulty level, At times, this game can be way too easy! Rarely did I ever finish in last place or whatnot! Except in 150cc a couple of times, but other then that, the game should not really give you that much trouble, that is for sure, but I won't go too hard on the low difficulty level because after all, This is the First ever Mario kart game in the series!

You must buy this game, no explanation needed, It is quite possibly one of the most fun and addicting kart racers on the SNES! I gave this game a 8.7 because how much fun It is and how much It offers, so buy this game now! It is pretty cheap nowadays. This has been RedHotToddy, And I am signing out! See you in my next review!
