My favorite is Andrew Jackson. Sure he was a jerk to the natives. But he fixed the economy at the time. And he gave us a lot more freedoms that we take for granted. He was a pretty cool guy in general.

Barack Obama has made massive progress in Martin Luther King dream, by being the first Black man to be president. He has also done a lot for his country and world, like solving the katastrophe with Bin Laden and has coped under pressure from nuke threats from North Korea. He has done a lot more for his country, but I can't say too much because I'm English. However he must be good if he kept up the role when it was contended with Mick Romney.
