In 2005, My sister liked me quite alot, She thought I was a well behaved boy who deserved something for myself, So she took me to Wal-mart one day to buy A brand new Game boy advance game, She bought me Yoshi topsy turvy, I liked the overall concept of the game, You tilt the Game boy advance to help Yoshi get across the levels, But did the developers do it correctly? Let's see!
Story-7/10 The main plot behind this game is that One day the evil bowser is wrecking the island of yoshi, Then some other dude decides to trap everybody in a big giant book. Yoshi kindly asks him to release the whole island, So he must adventure through more then 6 big chapters of this book to save his beloved island.
Gameplay-7/10 This game introduces a new feature, It is that you must now tilt your Game boy advance in order to help yoshi Progress through each level, For example, There might be a foldable platform, You must then tilt the Game boy advance in order to let the platform unfold, and so on. I actually like this concept! When I first heard of this concept, I was all like "Oh no what's this...." But then I gave It a shot and It worked out pretty fine! Each level has you doing certain tasks, Such as Collecting a certain amount of coins and reaching the end of the level, Reaching the goal as fast as possible, Etc. But one problem, They can get flipping hard! Especially the time trial missions. I liked the Crash bandicoot time trials, but not these ones! But other then that, You shouldn't have much problems after that.
Graphics-8/10 I'll be perfectly honest, The graphics in this game almost remind me of Yoshi's story, But only a little bit! But anyways, The graphics are actually pretty good for a 2005 title, All of the levels in the game are big, beautiful, and bursting with color. As for the characters, They are pretty nice as well, They all look like theirselves, Mostly Our hero yoshi himself. Okay the reason why The graphics look like they are is because they are in a storybook.
Sound-7/10 Ah the sound, My favorite part of a Nintendo game, But anyways The sound in this game is actually pretty good! All the songs you will be hearing are pretty happy, cheery, and catchy, But this is a yoshi game, So what to expect? As for the sound effects, They are pretty good as well, they are your typical stuff, But is that a bad thing? Of course not!
Addictiveness-7/10 Is this a game I am ever going to play again! Of course! Why would I ever shelve this game? It doesn't deserve that. I still remember coming back to get all of the remaining medals, Which are obtained by completing a level in a certain time. I have beaten this game at least 2 times to be exact, now that is amazing.
Depth-8/10 Believe it or not, This game is actually filled with Replay value! For one, There are a certain amount of medals to earn in the game, These are obtained by completing a level in a certain time. The game is also 8 worlds long, So It will probably take you about 2-5 hours to complete at most.
Difficulty-8/10 One of the game's high points, The difficulty. I actually remember this game getting really hard at certain points! Especially world 5, things got really harder then usual. But if you can get past those gripes, Then the game shouldn't be too hard for you.
Overall-7.7/10 So in general, This game wasn't too bad! I liked Nintendo new concept of Tilting the Game boy advance to help you get through the levels. But other then that, This game is great! I highly recommend it, I gave this game a 7.7 because how much fun It is and the amount of content It offers. So bye! Tomorrow is a big day for me!
